dudalb: :Probably a stupid question:How do you enable cloud save for a GOG game? or does it do automatically if you open the game in Galssy?
And does the Galaxy browser automatically update to the latest version?

Fairfox: ^^^ Nup.

Accident Lee loaded this instead ooof Guild of Dungeoneering (welp, not playeded anythang in a chicken-ass age) 'n', liek, it eated up all mah (as good as) office compy's resources becaaause it totes sucks.

(cappy) BUT.

Seems to work a-ok nao. Looks identi-similar to before, tho-tho.

dudalb: If somebody is asking a serious question, he deserves a serious reply, not a bunch of hipster gibberish.
It's usually enabled by default if a game supports cloud saving. To check whether a supported game has cloud saving active, go to the game in question in Galaxy, click "More" then select "Settings" from the the "More" drop down menu and you should see the cloud saving setting there.
avatar
AlbertCole: Is anyone else experiencing issues with the install process after the update? It always fails during the DirectX setup. I tested three games so far: Fallout Tactics Classic, Jade Empire and Mount & Blade (running Galaxy as admin).

Edit: A warning pops up saying "invalid command line option".
I am not sure but perhaps running Galaxy as admin may have something to do with it? Can you try to reproduce the problem without running Galaxy as admin, please?

Just trying to eliminate variables with my suggestion :)

brainvision: - is there a way to check and edit/delete what is saved on cloud?
Without going into too many details, every save that your game stores in the local folder is also in the GOG Galaxy Cloud - that's regarding the checking part. As for editing / deleting saves: if you launch the game and edit or remove saves from within the game then they should be removed from the cloud once you exit the game (keep in mind that for this to work, saves must be deleted when the game is running)

DDT2005: I have one computer that has no trouble at all and another that does, and exhibits this exact same behavior. I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled Galaxy to no avail. BTW, only one computer connected at a time to gog.com.

dim.146: Yes, exactly the same here. Before the most recent update, I almost never had a problem with Galaxy, now it cannot stay up for more than ~10 seconds. The GalaxyCommunicationService is apparently pretty buggy.

Hi,

sorry if you are experiencing this issue. We suspect this is a problem of running Galaxy over Remote Desktop, which we do not currently support. If you think this is not your case, please open an issue at http://mantis.gog.com, attaching your logs and any information about your machine that you might find relevant (for example using other remoting software, using Active Directory, or having any non-basic setup in terms of user accounts).

Regards,

rignes: Has anyone else noticed that the cloud sync of saves only happens when launching a game from within the Galaxy Client itself? In other words, if I used the desktop icon created during the install to launch the game I get neither the cloud sync nor the overlay.

Is this expected behavior?
It might change in the future to be more seamless (people probably used to other clients that force it), but this is the case. If you're using the desktop icon - it will take you straight to your game without GOG Galaxy time tracking, overlay, cloud saves sync trigger (it will sync later of course) etc. So if you'd uninstall GOG Galaxy (for some crazy reason!) this icon still works.
I recommend running your games through in-Galaxy play option. :)
Hi all,

we had an outage yesterday, and most of the above issues can be traced to that. We have managed to solve most of the problem by now :) Sorry for the trouble.

BKGaming: What about the other people with this issue? I don't know seems a bit unlikely this is totally related to using remote desktop (unless your talking specifically about that user)... I've seen like 5 - 10 people suggest this issue is happening to them. I mean you got four people here claiming it's happening, some on Windows and other on a MAC . Also a report and another in a [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_126_crashes_when_i_log_in]thead and a few people in this very thread and some I'm probably missing. Just pointing out it seems to be kind of more widespread on 1.2.6 then your average issue with Galaxy.
Thanks for those links, I'll look into those. I'm definitively not saying this is strictly Remote Desktop related. Well, especially the one on MacOS isn't :) We're looking into these issues right now.

takezodunmer2005: Galaxy vers 1.2.6 is always freezing, especially frustrating seeing as I have close to 500 games that are updating at this time, I constantly have to hard restart it! Otherwise, I love using it, but it looks like I'll have to revert back to my manual short-cuts from now on if this keeps up!

I'm just glad steam doesn't behave the same, otherwise I would be locked out of my games!

EDIT: Goddammit it Froze yet again after I exited a game, I'm reverting back to 1.1 beta as it was much more stable than 1.2!
avatar
Franck19520: Same here!!! got 900 games and same problem : GoG Galaxy 1.2.6 froze after a while... constantly need to restart it... after a few tests i think this is an issue with games auto-updating... have you tried to uninstall a game an just after to reinstall it? For me if i do that, Galaxy stuck on getting file list...for a long time before updating...(neither if I restart Galaxy, update start immediatly...) I think that the same problem when it freeze... Always before freezing i can read in the log something like: "[Information][ (0)]: The scheduling for the periodic product check was skipped as the installer is busy." And when this message appear, I can't access galaxy anymore...
By the way it's just a theory and after googling this problem the last few days, no-one exept me (and possibly you...) seems to have this problem... Possibly the large library of games cause the issue...
I f you find a solution, Please share... if the issues persists i'll go to reports the bugs on the official service support... but if effectively we are only a few with large library installed, seems we need to wait before the problem become a priority bug if you want my advice...
Definitely send your logs to mantis bug tracking system, instructions are here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_official_discussion_thread/post1

Large library is known to be slowing down especially opening the Galaxy Client, but it might be that or something different.
We have a room for improvements there, so it would be nice to look at your logs.

BKGaming: I seem to be getting a weird bug in Galaxy, the game Kenshi is telling me there is an update from 0.95.29 -> 0.95.33 but when I go to update it, it finishes and Galaxy says it's installed... but the blue dot remains and Galaxy tells me I'm still on 0.95.29.

Any ideas?
Did you install this game via standalone installer, or via Galaxy Client?
Could you describe the "when I go to update it" step?

I would recommend contacting support, so they can check the game itself.
avatar
yongra: GOG Galaxy on my PC just close after telling me connection to the GOG Service was lost. Still having server outage? It was doing that when I first updated to 1.2.6 but started to work about a day later and stayed up for few days and now the disconnect is happening again.
Hi yongra,

The message about "Connection to GOG Galaxy Communication Service was lost" is unrelated to our server outage. It is a problem on your machine, most commonly due to using Remote Desktop - which GOG Galaxy does not currently support.. If you are experiencing this without using Remote Desktop, then please report an issue at http://mantis.gog.com

BKGaming: 1.2.6 is pretty buggy, I'm not quite sure how GOG managed to overall have the release version be in a more buggy state then what beta was for the last few months but somehow they managed it.

---

Why am I getting "There are no downloads for this game" when viewing backup and goodies, to which the game clearly has backups and in some cases goodies?

As I said, buggiest version yet... that or the server is having issues again.
Which game you're referring to?
avatar
Johny.: Which game you're referring to?
avatar
BKGaming: JMich might be correct. It's not any one particular game. I was seeing it in a few random games last night. Sometimes I will look at it for a game and it will show "There are no downloads for this game" and look at it again later on and then the downloads show fine.

Most likely some kind of connection issue or the server was acting up...

avatar
JMich: ...similar to how the button for installing may take a while when downloading something. It does need a bit better handling of what's happening I guess.
avatar
BKGaming: Unfortunately I get this constantly regardless if I'm downloading something. I don't quite know what the issue is but if I restart Galaxy it will work normal for about 10 - 15 min then go back to taking a really long time. We're talking 10 - 15 min to load the install window in some cases as well as games pages and stuff if viewed for uninstalled games. Settings like languages will also sit and spin. The longer Galaxy is running the worse it is. Check connection speed and it's normal, web sites work fine, etc.

No idea why, but I've put detailed logs on mantis but haven't heard anything yet. Maybe this is just a side effect of that issue. :(

EDIT: Actually I have now CONFIRMED it is a side effect of the above issue. I found a game with this issue, and restarted Galaxy. The language setting took a 10 - 20 seconds to load after restart and then the backups showed fine. Before the restart it would just sit there and spin and spin.
I can confirm something similar (less time to wait than for you, but it's still long) happens on my network at home, possibly on any network outside of GOG HQ. :)

Also, we'll see into why you see "There are no downloads for this game" before the data loads (obviously false information).

takezodunmer2005: (snip)
The maddening thing is that version 1.1 worked flawlessly and for some reason, the damn program constantly freezes up and cannot even update/fully install my games without a hard re-start via process hacker/Task Manager!
(snip)
Bugfixes for freezes are coming in next update 1.2.7 AKA bug hunting. :) I hope it will resolve your issue.

avatar
Philby: (snip)
It didn't delete all the files or do proper un-installs, it seems to have just removed them from the installed list. How can I repair or re-install to the same existing location and import my games which are still there? (snip)
Install GOG Galaxy, then try to use Scan&Import method (top-left GOG logo -> Scan & Import ; or your game view -> MORE -> manage installation -> import folder) to import your games. If it's a success, you can try Veryfy & Repair (game view -> MORE -> manage installation -> Verify/Repair).

If the games won't import for you - go to your library and install them and override your games locations.
I recommend to backup those games saves just in case.

Next time you can contact our support for that. :)

we just released GOG Galaxy 1.2.7, mostly with a bunch of stability improvements and bugfixes. You'll find the changelog in the usual spots - in the pinned post in this thread, and in the menu in top left corner of GOG Galaxy :)
