I'm not particularly Steam-inclined, and I paid €5 five years ago for it, but it's a superb game, so can encourage everyone to go for it.
Just a brief idea of the humour for anyone who doesn't know the game:

Most likely references Bioware's set up and/or serial key, but you can ask them to confirm. It certainly doesn't mean Steam as Steam is now directly referenced on applicable product pages as "Steamworks (Requires a 3rd party download and account)".

It's the "bioware social thingy". I don't know if its online activation or always online. And it "only" affects the DLCs. It's no extra client, but it runs within the game. I've never noticed it, but I played the first on Steam and the second on Origin anyway.

Neither DA:O nor DA 2 "needs" Origin to run. They can be activated as an additional method of installing, but I played my Origin version of DA 2 plenty of times without Origin running. But they do check, at least on startup, your "bioware account" for the DLCs, Origin or not.

So does that mean it still activates via Origin though?

Yay, more regional bullshit. None of the Dragon Age games are available in my region and Saints Row 3 is only 10% off. The DLC is 50% off though.
Oh well, I guess I should be content with getting the THQ bundle before they fixed the price.
