Install notes: Install & play.
If using PlayOnLinux, start the game from/create shortcut for "WA.exe"
How well does it run: Good, anything bigger than 800x600 gives you this: http://i.imgur.com/rOoMnSZ.png still haven't found a way around it :(
Details: The first time the game is run it'll ask if you want to enable extra wine cfgs, say yes, makes running it a breeze.

Install notes: Install & play.
If using PlayOnLinux, run the game from/create a shortcut for "WA.exe"
How well does it run: Perfect
Details: Have only tested briefly but seems to run great - the game detects if Wine is being used and has compatibility settings specifically for this, which it asks if you want to use when you first start it.

Let it use these settings, but before playing run Winecfg and enable the virtual desktop, setting it to the resolution you want to run the game at, and then when ingame go into options and disable the "Force Wine virtual desktop" setting - if you don't do this you'll encounter the issue te_lanus reported (this issue does not occur using CrossOver).

Don't run the game with CSMT enabled as it'll cause it to freeze on exit (this issue also doesn't occur with CrossOver).

Widescreen support/other resolutions:
The game has limited resolution options available ingame, however as te_lanus noted in his report you can manually set other resolutions by running the game with these arguments:

-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1200x32

(replace 1920x1200x32 with the setting you want to use)

Graphics card: AMD RX 480 8GB
Graphics driver & version: Open source, with Mesa 17.3.2 from Padoka's stable Mesa PPA
Wine version(s) tested: Wine 3.0 (with CSMT enabled)

Install notes: Before playing open sshock.ini in the game directory and set SoftRenderer=On
Run the game from/create a shortcut for "sshock.exe"
How well does it run: Perfect
Details: Played this some time ago without any issues although I got sidetracked & didn't do a complete playthrough, have re-tested with Wine 3.0 and everything still seems to work fine - I *strongly* recommend setting SoftRenderer=On in sshock.ini as having it turned off may result in very poor performance and the game freezing.

Getting music working:
For music to work you'll probably need to install a MIDI synthesizer and a soundfont. There are a number of synthesizers and soundfonts available, but here's some instructions for using Fluidsynth & the FluidR3 soundfont, both of which are available via the Mint/Ubuntu repositories. First install the packages "fluidsynth" and "fluid-soundfont-gm" (ignore the second one if you want to use a different soundfont). Then, before starting the game open a terminal and start fluidsynth with the command:

fluidsynth --audio-driver=pulseaudio /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2
(substitute /usr/share/sounds/sf2/FluidR3_GM.sf2 with the soundfont you want to use, if you want to use something else. Also some users may find that --audio-driver=alsa works better for them)

Leave it to run in the background as you play, then when you're done playing type "quit" and press enter to close it.

Wine wrapper
I have put together a Linux Wine wrapper for this game. For more information, see the release thread in the game's forum: https://www.gog.com/forum/system_shock_series/system_shock_enhanced_edition_for_linux

Details: Played the game for a while, seems to run flawlessly. Tested with virtual desktop and CSMT enabled.
This would be Staging 1.9.20 then, yes? Any trouble with missing sprites?
Yes. As for the sprite issue, I didn't have any problems but I've played further through today & did encounter it :( I tried everything I could think of to try to get it working but without any luck, and as it affects the playability of the game I've removed the report for now. I'll keep re-testing it every so often and will post a new report when it starts working.

I was hoping the GOG version worked around it somehow. Not a lot of dev activity on that bug despite having a working demo that reproduces the problem. AMD GPUs should work. Not sure about Intel ones.

Just tried and can't make it run. Neither 3dfx or 3D3. :(
I've set 95/98/XP. Installed d3d9, d3d compiler.
Wine 1.9.20 and Linux Mint 18.

No luck, so far.

It's also the subject of two bugs in WineHQ's Bugzilla: https://bugs.winehq.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=Requiem&list_id=402721

The 3DFX version crashes and I've found no way to get that working so far, but I did manage to get the Direct3D version running after adding an override for ddraw (native, builtin). I've also had to set MouseWarpOverride to force as it doesn't capture the mouse & the "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" setting doesn't fix it. It's probably worth setting compatibility mode for Win98 too just in case.

It seems to run well apart from some slight stuttering but according to GOG there's a bug with the Direct3D version:
In the Direct3D version, there is a game breaking bug at one point of the game. The bug occurs in a hotel area, when you go to speak with the character, Elijah. Speaking with the guard is supposed to trigger a dialogue, which results in opening the doors, however, due to the presence of this bug, the event has a high probability of not occurring. This bug is present in the Direct3D version of the game ONLY.
Although I played up to meeting Elijah a few times (loading a savegame after the first time) and didn't encounter any problems. I've never played the game before though so maybe the bug occurs later on?
