DreamedArtist: These better be the originals and not the blu ray ones... and is google's movies DRM free? or I need to use the google account for it?
Is GOG 100% DRM-free? Does GOG needs an account?

Okay, apart from joking I disbelieve that there is any movie platform right now that offers Hollywood-movies without DRM. I haven´t seen one at least!
I just want a Blu-Ray release of the un-fucked-with theatrical cuts of the original trilogy. Don't let me down Disney. -.-
BTW: Could somebody around who´s active on twitter ask Disney whether they´ll release it on GOG or not?

yeah like that will happen any time soon

That is not going to happen. Though to be honest, I wouldn't mind some of the new stuff in the film. But some of it really needs to go. I mean the attack on the death star was nicely improved on.

RadonGOG: So, now I´m leaving the facts and entering the fields of speculation: Could it be that GOG is among those stores who will able to offer it?!
Big question from me is, does Disney have full, worldwide distribution rights? I know GOG has started doing a little region locking for a couple games, but they seem to be treading softly in that regard.

i was indifferent towards the special edition
but the edits are getting more and more stupid

like the rockwall R2 hides behind
not only is it impossible for him to get in there

the damn thing dissapears in the next shot

and jabba in episode 4 should have been a hologram that way han could have walked around him easily

Yeah some of them are fuckin stupid. But I think there was definitely improvements made. There was just no quality control... and there still isn't.

fox owns episode 4 in perpetuity that was a part of the original deal in 1977 to get star wars off the ground
so a deal would have to be hammered out and fox will make disney bleed for as much as they can im sure of it

One change I always thought was hilarious because it makes no odds to me, is the end with Anakins ghost. You can two choices, some fat old darth vader ghost or a badly cgi proper anakin ghost. Either or looks terrible but everyone fights about it.

i never thought the cgi ghost looked that bad he is only in the frame for a few seconds
though people argue over it because it changes the originals to suit the prequels instead of the other way around

the prequels are more recent so they should be able to fit seamlessly and effortlessly with the original they originals should be edited to fix the new ones
thats what most people trip up over

im personally more bothered by stupid changes

TBH star wars fans are just sad little goblins for the most part. They're never happy about anything. Star Trek fans atleast argue logically lol.

darthspudius: It is the same as the Blurays btw.

Elmofongo: No Pre Special Editon theatrical version of Star Wars?
nope, not yet anyway there have been rumors abound that Disney wants to release a non-special edition blu ray of the classic trilogy but nothing has been officially announced since there were two big hurdles one being Fox who still owns the distribution rights to all 6 Star Wars films till 2020 and will own the rights to Episode 4 till the end of time or the studio anyway and Lucas himself who refuses to allow the original theatrical versions to ever appear outside of VHS and that short DVD run.

Now since Disney/Lucasfilm are releasing the Star Wars films digitally it seems they have worked out a deal with Fox so depending on the deal they may also be able to release a new blu ray set but that still leaves Crazy old grandpa George and depending on the deal he made with Disney when he sold Lucasfilm and subsidiaries to them as it's not beyond the realm of reason that he may had but in a clause in their that ensures his "vision" of the original 3 films is not altered and possibly also preventing any redo's of the Prequels so long as he is still alive. Not saying this is the case, just a possibility since no one knows what the details of the deal were outside of the sum and what Disney owns.

My warp core is much more stable than one of your feeble hyper drives... primitive!
