DCT: why am I surprised by that some mostly forgotten 80's toy has a fandom. I really should have known better by now..given that their are MLP fandom, Snorks Fandom, Littlest Pet Shop Fandom, hell Manos "Hands of Fate" one of the worst films ever has a fandom.. to name a few. I swear they should change Rule 34 from if it exists there is porn of it to if it exists there is a fandom for it since truth be told it's more accurate.
snowkatt: manos has a fandom because of mystery science theater 3000
not because its " qualities"
actually it's a bit of both. The movie gained notice thanks to MST3K, since before them hardly anyone even knew the film existed but since then it has developed a fandom because of it's *ahem* "qualities" so much so there was a puppet based stage show based on the film called Manos the hands of Felt which saw a filmed version of it thanks to Kikstarter, The film is seeing a HD remaster on Blu Ray thanks to fans and the guy who managed to acquire the long forgotten work print of the film, had a game made based on it and for awhile there someone actually was making a sequel to it. All due to the infamous rep the film has thanks to MST3K of course but as I said they brought the film to the public and they kept it going. Sometimes genuinely bad films just develop this cult following it's why The Room which is probably tied with Manos as the worst film ever produced has it's own fandom, It's also why Sharknado has had two sequels and why most Exploitation/Grindhouse films have endured and still see re-releases to this day, I should know I happen to collect them. Hell there are people who still make Exploitation/Grindhouse films with titles such as Hobo with a Shotgun, Rubber, Wolf Cop, Human Centipede 1-3, Nude Nuns with Big Guns, Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, ect.
