So juliusborisov lied to us all this time? Because he kept saying that Beamdog had nothing to do with that decision in almost every post.

I can't decide whether I should laugh, cry or just say "whatever, just an other day at Beamdog".

plan99: Btw, since Beamdog are laying part of the blame for this mess on GOG, I hope everyone will open a ticket to complain to GOG about the removal of the classics. If Beamdog are lying, as they've proven to do, I doubt GOG will be happy with them. If they're not lying, GOG needs to know how many people are angry at them for this, among so many other things...

Beamdog doesn't care what you think, unless you vote with your wallets and negatives on store pages. Then they'll just attack you and assemble an army of drones, lol.
I am guessing GoG has picked up on the lying and let them know. Which is why Beamdog just made this statement.

Lies on their own forums too.

Guys and gals, especially lurkers and all-and-sundry-who-love-to-down-rep, why are you down rep'ing the original post? Don't you understand that it gets burried? Please, we know that 'that' button is like unto a forbidden fruit to you, but don't do it. Just... don't, 'mkay?

Wait... who am I kidding!?

I think everyone should share this announcement on Steam and all other gaming forums. To make sure everyone is aware of the announcement Beamdog made. I am sure they want as many people as possible to hear their explanation.

Isn't it odd that the faceless 'developer' creates a GOG account today(?), waltzes in and makes an anonymous announcement and then doesn't stick around to enter any dialog? Oh, wait... it isn't odd at all: this is Beamdog!

So, classic Infinity Engines games like Baldur's Gate are not available for sale separately on Gog, even though
one of the major reasons to use Gog is to get the classics? Ok, whatever. Might as well just stick with Steam.

Dude, you're going to take the fall for this company?

After all this, you think they will have your back & not gleefully throw you under the bus?

Say bye bye, sacrificial lamb. You're never gonna work in games again.

Speaking of IE games, I hope no one gives Beamdog the source code of Icewind Dale 2 if it's eventually found.

You misunderstand. They're still saying GOG is partly to blame in this very announcement:

Beamdog: The decision to take Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, Icewind Dale, and most recently, Planescape: Torment from sale on GOG and bundle them with the Beamdog Enhanced Edition titles was a joint decision between the Beamdog and GOG leadership teams, just as it was when the GOG Definitive Edition Bundles were first announced.

My guess is it went something like this (highly simplified):

Beamdog: Hey, GOG, we have a fantastic idea that will benefit us [especially us] both...
GOG: Oh yeah? Let's hear it then.
Beamdog: Well, you know we have enhanced editions of BG et al, and everybody knows bundles are great, right? We were thinking how fantastic it would be to... (blah, blah)... Everybody wins!
GOG: Hmm. That might work. Let's do it.
Beamdog: Great! We'll send the agreement papers right over!

Everyone at Beamdog who answered mails from customers seems to have been wrong too....Strange. Everyone making the exact same mistake. Everyone...the same mistake....for over a year...I find that very hard to believe. There is absolutely zero communication between the Beamdog bosses and the customer's support + the moderators + + + ? None of them noticed that you, on the Beamdog Forums, claimed WOTC were the ones who decided to bundle the games? You also said it was GoG for awhile.

Someone posted a reply he got from GoG customer Service not long ago. GoG said they had to sell the games the way the developers wanted, or not sell them at all.

So I am sure this is what Beamdog means by "joint decision". Bundle the games or you don't get to sell Planescape, BG or Icewind Dale anymore.

Don't worry. They are no doubt working on Baldur's Gate 3 now. A sequel to a series that ended perfectly. I guess SoD didn't do enough harm to the series. They have to ram the final nail into its coffin, I suppose.

Ha! The most realistic part was the "blah, blah", but there needs to be a bit (a lot) more hatred and/or doublespeak on Beamdog's end - they're obviously using Orwell's books as manuals. ;)

Maybe you're right, maybe not, but it always seems like you're making an excuse not to do something. Either way, they're clearly making it sound like GOG was part of this. Don't waste time and effort in forums, other than being a place to talk about ideas or let off steam, lol, it hasn't done a bit of good. Take it to GOG support and we'll see what happens - they can thank Beamdog for the deluge. My experience with support, so far:

Subject: On Beamdog and bundling the classics

I'd like the classic versions of Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment and any future games Beamdog decides to "enhance" sold separately. It's fine if they're bundled with the EEs, but they need to be sold separately, as well. Not everyone likes the EEs or wants to give money to a company (Beamdog) who've consistently put out bug riddled games, charge more for the privilege and attack people if they disagree with them in any way.

If what Beamdog said ( https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/regarding_the_removal_of_the_original_ie_games_from_sale_on_gog/page1 ) is true, I'm extremely unhappy and disappointed with GOG.

Support reply:

Hello,
Thank you for the suggestion, I will forward it to the right teams to consider.
