We would like to apologize for recent miscommunications regarding the removal of the predecessor products to our Enhanced Edition titles from sale on GOG.

The decision to take Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, Icewind Dale, and most recently, Planescape: Torment from sale on GOG and bundle them with the Beamdog Enhanced Edition titles was a joint decision between the Beamdog and GOG leadership teams, just as it was when the GOG Definitive Edition Bundles were first announced.

At no point was it our intention to appear as if we were shifting the weight of this decision to GOG. Again, we apologize for creating this perception and hope to do a better job of communicating with the GOG community in the future.

We believe that bundling the old titles alongside their newer Enhanced Editions creates a value unique to GOG and allows for owners to enjoy the option of choosing to play the game as it was on release or the versions we have made available.

The team at Beamdog is working to better communicate internally and with members of the community. We appreciate the feedback we’ve received so far and look forward to hearing more from GOG fans.

I knew it! You have to be joking. "enjoy the option"? What "option"? There is no "option". What is this? More damage control from a faceless developer from Canada called "Beamdog"? Who are you? Why hide behind a title? Tell us who we're talking to.

Options? I tell you options:

(1) Classic Baldurs Gate Games

(2) Enhanced Editions in 1.3 or 2.0+ flavor

(3) Classic and Enhanced Bundle (1.3 or 2.0+ likewise)

Ofc with pricing set accordingly. These would have been fair options.
But no, all was reduced to this "option":

Unbundle the classics and watch the complaints go away.

Yeah...you got this feedback when you bundled the BG games last year. You kept at it and did the same with Planescape a year later. It is pretty clear that Feedback does not matter at all.

I concur with all but the opening post.

Just hiding the classics behind the "enhanced" versions shows a lack of confidence in your own product.

Now I know you learned something from your BG experience as you left PS:T and Icewind Dale alone with regards to frivolous additions that are crowbarred in and slapped in the face of players. The writing style involved in the new characters is really jarring compared to the original.

So learn something else here, we're the ones paying so it'd be just dandy if we get to decide what we're paying for.

I thought the official story was that Wizards of the Coast FORCED you to bundle the originals with the "enhanced" editions.

And now you're saying that it was a joint decision between you and GOG, but somehow, the everybody seemed to think this was solely GOG's doing?

I don't remember anyone ever thinking this was GOG's fault.

Even when you're trying to save face, you're so weaselly that you try to drag others down with you.

Hey, remember when you said your customers were pieces of shit & horrid excuses for human beings because they pointed out that your expansion was not very well written? And then you tried to have Jezebel smearing them even further?

That was highly professional of you, wasn't it? Just like all your decisions up to & including this "clarification".

Glad I bought all original versions of Icewind Dale 1 & 2, the original Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Planescape: Torment.

Now the only option to play the original games is that you have to buy the Enhanced Editions.

There's no option anymore if you want to buy the originals...you can see now why Beamdog's now having a bad rep especially that last Baldur's Gate game wherein you had to put some bullcrap SJW propaganda that these hipsters are into nowadays.

Unless you want the GOG community to respect Beamdog again, then let others buy the classics as it is without buying the Enhanced Editions. Otherwise...you'll just be hearing complaints from us, the customers, over and over.

This is really unbelievable.

(1) People associated with beamdog many times emphasized that it was not their decision to bundle EE and classic editions. This includes official email replies from Beamdog when asked about possibility to purchase classic edition separately. It takes guts to come here and write that this was never "your intention".

It was clearly, from the very beginning, your intention to shift blame to gog and WOTC.

(2) What options you are talking about? The option to purchase classic edition was removed. Before there was an option to purchase classic or EE, that is 2 options. Now it is only possible to purchase EE, that is there is only1 choice. As far as my math goes 2>1, implying there are fewer options.

Somehow it's even worse now. You know that now when someone says that he can't believe a word said by Beamdog representatives, he has a proof why.

We are talking about a company that threw the BG fans under the bus here. Spinning a narrative about how their game got bashed because of a transgendered character was in it, and used that as a shield to cover the fact that it was the bugs and the bad writing that actually got most of the stick. Their honesty went out the window rather fast.

Why do you pretend to "listen" to the community ?. It is very clear that (like so many others) that you only "listen" when the community says the same (or nearly the same) as you want to hear.

If you really want to do something good for a change then make the classic versions available again as a seperate purchase.

If Wargaming Labs can have a Collector's Edition of Master of Orion (4) that bundles with the first three game while still have the games available for seperate purchase then surely you can too, that is if you are sincere about people having the "option to choose"

Btw, since Beamdog are laying part of the blame for this mess on GOG, I hope everyone will open a ticket to complain to GOG about the removal of the classics. If Beamdog are lying, as they've proven to do, I doubt GOG will be happy with them. If they're not lying, GOG needs to know how many people are angry at them for this, among so many other things...

Beamdog doesn't care what you think, unless you vote with your wallets and negatives on store pages. Then they'll just attack you and assemble an army of drones, lol.
