Petrell: I'm more interested in the fact that they mo-cap the sex scenes. Now there is a fun job. :-p Also if OP actually read the article he'd found out that motion-capturing the sex scenes took 16 work hours, not that the game actually will containt 16 hours of sex scenes. ;-p
So is it people DRESSED in those mocap suits... daggering furiously? I hope their insurance covers dick fractures, furious daggering is a risky thing XD

RWarehall: Do you think? How many people named "James" in the world do you think are so overly concerned with objectification of women and rape culture...
I don't know. How many people named James do work for Rock Paper Shotgun?

deonast: I think it would be more if the box copy distributors Nambco Bandai sensor the game for Australian markets they will use their legal muscle to ensure GOG does the same (same as they do with pricing) to ensure there is even competition. As CDProject Red like many developers still rely heavily on boxed copy sales, they comply.
CDPR didn't seem too fussed about NB's last lawsuit. But either way I don't see them releasing uncensored content in Australia. On the contrary. If past experience is anything to go by they'll simply censor the game for the rest of us too. Take Fallout as an example.

James175: You are turning your game into nothing more than a porn game that objectifies women and adds fuel to the growing rape culture.

phaolo: Your standards in games:
- murder -> that's cool! :D
- sex -> shame on you! :O
So I'm a bad man for having sex last night? What if I kill someone today would that even it out? Give me a metric here. Like how many kills per sex sessions for it to be okay?

ScotchMonkey: So I'm a bad man for having sex last night?
No but you could have at least taken the goat out to dinner first.
avatar
DieRuhe: Rape culture... is that like a yeast infection?
Ugh I hate Marmite.

In this economy? Pfft she can eat the grass out back, not that fancy store bought grass.

Lemon_Curry: It's probably 16 hours of slow-motion bouncy bouncy extravaganza. ;)

Hopefully, they hired Zlata the motion capture goddess.
It was probably two dudes in MOCAP suits doing the "GRIND ON ME!" vine for 16 hours. Those guys deserve their Miller time!

Novotnus: So... now both 'conservative' people and 'progressive' people are against sex? :)
Haters gonna hate
avatar
Navagon: Take Fallout as an example.
You can't plame GOG for that one. Interplay provided GOG the same versions of the Fallout series that they used when they published the retail Fallout trilogy.

They can't realy. The distributor with the rights to sell in Australia Nambco Bandai submitted the Witcher 2 game to a certain rating in Australia. So that is set unless GOG as the online distributor can some how trump them and go through the resubmission process (and pony up the dollars to do it) I'd say Australia is stuck with the initial classification boards rating.

tinyE: WTF is the "rape culture"?
It's a word made up by those sick feminists like Anita and her loyal supporters. Basically it means that being sexually attracted to women is wrong because it contributes to women being raped.
avatar
budejovice: Obviously porn, or sex scenes in games, has nothing to do with rape.
Oh yes, it does, according to some rather famous radical feminists.

By the way, where's that thread claiming that The Witcher 2 is homophobic? It's time to necro that just for the laughs.
avatar
Gilozard: I also wish the Witcher had less sex. It seems like the kind of game I'd love, but not if I have to deal with objectification like this. Optional sex would work too - why is CD Projekt too lazy to add a checkbox to the Options menu so people can opt into this?
Or you could just not buy it, you know. I don't think anyone is forcing you to buy it.

timppu: Other than that, I'm not really looking forward to "sex scenes" in games. The gameplay in those sections will probably suck anyway, feeling so unrealistic.
What if they bundle it with this controller:

Fenixp: I'm fairly sure you can avoid that one as well. Still, Witcher supports rape culture!
Does it support rape culture more than Hitman Absolution?
avatar
Gersen: I find it pretty silly/sad that on one side peoples says that games must grow as an "art form" but at the same time when they try to touch more adult subject and theme like sex, rape, etc... they get slammed for it. We have rape/sex/incest in Games of Thrones or others TV series, I don't see why those subjects should be taboo in games.
But what about the children?

Nope don't rape children it isn't nice :)
low rated
This thread is what happens when the Goober Gobblers get unwittingly trolled by one of their own. It's pretty obvious to me that the 'OP' was acting as a parody, and yet these regressive reactionaries are so eager to pounce upon and rant at this Bogeyman caricature they've made up in their heads called "SJWs" that they don't even take two seconds to notice that.

There's almost nobody, even among the most "radical" of feminists, who claims the mere existence of sex reinforces rape culture. And if you think they do, you're wrong. You need to pay attention better.
