l0rdtr3k: Watched The Castle of Fu Manchu MST'd.
Not even Joel and the bots made it watchable.
There are a few movies even they couldn't make watchable. Makes me wonder how they managed to make the episode without offing themselves.
At least we have Mitchell,Space Mutiny,The Brain that Woudn't Die and Manos:The Hands of Fate to make me laugh really hard.
And I almost forgot Invasion of the Neptune Men.

Side Hackers, Wild Rebels, The Beatniks, Skydivers, and Attack of The The Eye Creatures are my favorites.

CarrionCrow: Good morning/afternoon/evening, everyone.

It's still dark outside, I'm sucking down coffee, and it's looking to be another meh kinda day.

Hopefully people are doing something more enjoyable or interesting.

Stilton: Good mornin'/Sunday/January, Crow. A sleepy day ahead here. The pillaging has stopped for a few days so I'll be adding to the 'Holiday Bloat' with a few kegs of ale and a dead sheep or two.

Gotta get some exercise - I feel like I'm turning to fungus...
Some walking, maybe have half the sheep now, save the rest for later....-laughs-
I don't envy you the challenge. There isn't even great food here and it's still easy to eat too much.
If there were actually places to hang out, have good things to eat and drink, generally relax and enjoy?
I'd probably never want to leave. ;)

l0rdtr3k: I know I've ranted about EA but I like their games. It's like those abusive relationships "she hurts me but I love her" kinda deals. And I know I may sound like a hypocrite but EA is a HUGE part of my gaming life and when they get it right, they get it right.
Also,mornin' peeps.
Good morning. =)
I can see what you're saying. With some companies, they get it right like you said, but then they make you feel like an idiot for putting up with them being assholes.
It's tricky, to say the least. Pretty sure I have most if not all their GOG games, but every once in a while I still get that, "You're giving money to assholes" vibe....

Doublechecked. I have all of them but one. -laughs-

l0rdtr3k: Downloaded and installed the freeware C&C games and they're running like a dream.
Which ones are you trying? Still need to beat RA 2 at some point...

adaliabooks: Actually, haggis isn't too bad... once you can get past what it is... I've had it a couple of times (the first with out realising what it was) and it's actually not bad. Like black pudding (but that's also an acquired taste)
avatar
budejovice: This is pretty interesting. Like, CarrionCrow, I think I'm probably getting into a texture thing to some degree. (Which is the reason I almost gagged the only time I tried menudo.)

See, something with the texture of rice and/or oatmeal shouldn't taste like that! :) This takes us directly from haggis to the various types of blood sausage, many of which use rice. I haven't tried black pudding, but I've had several types of cajun boudin, including ricy & bloody. I know this is going to come out terribly wrong, but I like my sausage meaty. :)

Trivia: Some really amazing encased meats all over North America (including Mexican chorizo of course), but the best I have ever had off the continent:
-Italy, and for the life of me I can remember if that restaurant was in Milan or several candidates in Sicily
-Zagreb
I think texture plays a lot. Mince up the organs and I can eat them no problem... but the rubbery texture (to look at anyway, don't think I've ever eaten liver or kidneys by themselves) puts me off most organs... XD

And as for sausages, they have to be one or the other. I love a 80% + pork sausage, but good vegetarian sausages can be really nice too. But cheap sausages (only 50% or so meat) are horrible. Usually just fat and breadcrumbs.

Wait... is RA2 freeware these days? I absolutely love that game :D
Tiberian Dawn,Sun and RA1.

How are you doing today?
Fine, thanks :)
I am quite focused on my work...

l0rdtr3k: I'm not feeling good. Some shit happened with my family and I just can't handle it.
If you guys don't mind,I'll retire a bit from the forum until the dust settles. I'll be back problably at the end of the week, hopefully I'll be a registered worker by then.
Ho, crap... I hope things will get better for your family... Read you soon !

ddickinson: Good day, everyone!
Good morning ddickinson! Glad to hear you are a happy bird today. I think today I am a Junco, since I finally got to see the adorable little snowbirds over the weekend (they are arriving late this year to my region, due to the late cold weather).

Good luck, and hopefully you can find a stable situation, as well as relief from familial troubles. It's okay to talk things out here too if you need to, we're (mostly) all friends here. :)

l0rdtr3k: Of all the companies that EA killed, which one was your favourite?
Personally,I can't decide either Origin or Pandemic.
avatar
ddickinson: I'm not too knowledgable about the companies EA has destroyed, but for me, one of the big ones would be Westwood Studios. They created games like the Command and Conquer series, Dune games and the Legend of Kyrandia games. They used to put so much effort into their games, but once EA got to them they slowly got worse and worse, like many developers who are taken over by a greedy publisher.
Huh. Never knew Westwood Studios created the Legend of Kyrandia games. That seems so foreign to their C&C games. The more you know.

avatar
ddickinson: Edit: WARNING! Be sure to keep your distance from EndreWhiteMane. Why? Because he just gave me Worms ;-). But seriously, thank you, kind sir, for the generous gift. And now I have to go back to keeping quite about games I'm interested in, to stop you generous people gifting me. :-)

*does a happy "I got a lovely gift" dance*
EndreWhiteMane the serial viking gifter? And here i thought vikings was supposed to pillage and loot from others, not give them presents. :P

avatar
CarrionCrow: All right, broke down and got Bloodrayne to complete the series. Clunky bits or not, having the second and not the first just doesn't work for me.
avatar
j0ekerr: Yes, indeed, it had absolutely nothing to do with the pixelated polygon boobies at all. No Siree.

The greatest japanese technological achievement of the last decade has been jiggle technology. Believe it!
Believe it or not i bought it because it looked like a fun, action-y vampire game. There are so few good vampire games around it's hard to be picky about them. :/

To be honest, i only really know of the Vampire the Masquerade and Bloodrayne games.

avatar
j0ekerr: You're right on the money about what moe means, just add a pinch of adorableness and you're spot on. Retardation is optional.

It's basically the otaku equivalent of D'AAAAAAW!
avatar
CarrionCrow: Funnily enough, I would have figured retardation to be mandatory for watching that....
Think I'll stick with anime that doesn't make me feel like an imbecile, an idiot and/or a pervert for viewing. -laughs-
Here is a more detailed explanation of the trope. That is if you dare enter the realm of Tvtropes.

Fun fact: I'm pretty much the definition of a shrinking violet.

ddickinson: I put the volume on low, don't worry, at their age they can't hear too good, plus all that snoring will drowned out the sound :-). Sharky and George was a French cartoon that was dubbed into English and shown on TV when I was little. It's not too well known and I don't think there is much of it online. I had the theme tune stuck in my head this morning, which is why I mentioned it, plus I was curious to see if anyone else remembered it.

Sharky and George theme tune (low quality, sadly): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FkI69t9eIY

Another one that I thought of this morning was an English clay animation series called Trap Door.
Trap Door theme tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9dbAQJIu1o

You don't have to leave, feel free to stay and watch some cartoon. You can pick one after Sharky and George has finished :-). Care to share some one your favourite Saturday morning cartoons?
Wow. I had completely forgotten about Sharky and George existed as a cartoon. I vaguely remember watching it.

Don't believe Trap Door was ever translated and sent in my country though. (Could be wrong though, there are a lot of cartoons i don't remember anymore)

I recognized most of them, but i have only seen roughly half of them because the others wasn't released in my country (real ghostbusters, he-man, Transformers and thundercats being among those).

I do remember watching the centurions though. Which reminds me about Iron Man: The Animated Series.

Btw was Gargoyles shown in the UK? Just curious because it never came to my country, i only heard about the cartoon later due to the internet and from hearing about it from a online friend.

tinyE: I had one of those packs. It was Tiberian Sun (and expansion), RA 2 (and expansion), and Renegade in one box. No DRM but for needing the disc.
avatar
ddickinson: Mine has the orginal C&C, Tiberian Sun (and expansion), Red Alert 1 (and expansions), Red Alert 2 (and expansion), Renegade and Generals (and expansion). There is an unofficial 3rd patch for my set that removed the cd requirement, while also fixing some bugs.
I think i have that one too. I also have the games + expansions individually. :)

You never completed RA 2? O.o

Well i guess i can't be surprised of that. I never finished RA 1 (allied side, i completed the soviet side)

LaPtiteBete: I bought Outlast during the last sales because it had good reviews and costed only a couple of euros. But I definitely can't play it. It scares the sh*t out of me, as you US folks say. I can't even enter in the hospital, I just want to get back in the car and run away, and quick... :-D
I don't like playing scary games either. When i first started up Baldur's Gate 2 the intro scared me a little. XD

When i first played Diablo 2 around 2002ish the dark atmosphere and music in the rogue camp frightened me a bit. lol

Keep in mind i mostly played non-scary strategy games like Civilization, Settlers and HoMM 2-3 before that though. So in comparison Diablo 2 was quite scary and dark to the cutesy cartoon style of the Settlers. :P

l0rdtr3k: Wonderfull news.
Today is the day I'll go and sign my contract. Today,I'll officialy be employed. All I have to do now is get my working papers.
Make sure you read the fine print. When I went to work for Barnes & Noble I just blindly signed without noticing the little bit on the end which read, "Don't show up to work drunk."

Needles to say I got the short end of that deal!
Good day, everyone !!
Hope you're all doing fine !
I'm pretty busy these days, so I just pop in and out...
I try to follow your discussions here but it's not always easy...

avatar
EndreWhiteMane: Mornin' all, just popped in to say HI before I'm off to the hospital.
Anyone home?
Good morning Endre !!
Good luck for your stay, and beware of hot nurses ! ^^

AgentBirdnest: Bittersweet feelings about Grim Fandango.
Sweet because... It's Grim Fandango. I was worried that it wouldn't show up on GOG, since DF haven't released their latest 3 titles here.
Bitter because I don't meet the minimum specs :-(
Grim Fandango !!! :-D That's great news !
I'll sure buy it.
Wait... what minimum specs ? ... Õ__Õ ... maybe I should take a look at this...
