I have the Australian retail version of The Witcher, will that work with it? I can't even find it. Can someone just post the link, your not going to get in trouble, CDP should acknowledge the issue instead of leaving us in the dark!!

Still waiting for my copy of TW2 from the UK, want to finish TW1 before it arrives.

Australia gets the international version so it wont work for us ;(
I bought the original retail version dated 10/11/2007 @ 14:17 and still have the original invoice in the box.

I downloaded the EE a long time ago and too can't register my game.

Anyone know if it is possible to persue legal action against this company because I cannot play the EE ediction now because of registration?

I can play the game out of the box but that would be insane, I cannot download large files at present since I have a 1gig monthly cap :/
Well, this is a kick in the pills... I just reinstalled my US retail copy and I can't register, I keep getting a message that says "The connection with the server was reset" and does nothing else. I can't install any patches. What gives?

To top it off, I bought a US copy of The Witcher 2, installed the 1.1 patch, and I STILL can't download any DLC.

I tell you, I've never had this much frustration with The Witcher. I'm about to send it packing. This is absurd and unnacceptable. If anyone has a solution for this issue with the first Witcher game, please post it before I toss these copies of the games in the trash...
Thanks for the info, Digitalforce. Damned shame I have a legit retail copy that was purchased at GameStop the day it was released to retail and can't register/patch the legitimate way... But your solution seemed to do the trick. Thanks again.

digitalforce: FIX: This is the EXACT reason internet activation should NEVER be included. It punishes us legit users.

Google: TWEE_Upgrade-Unregpatch.exe

It patches the upgrader to skip registration. Works like a charm -- ENJOY!

Love you CDPR but this is example #9.9999,999 of why DRM should never exist.. thanks for realizing this on Witcher 2!
Too bad the Unregpatch doesn't work with the international version. .__. We've been waiting a week for the damn servers to get back up just so we can play our legal copies of an entirely off-line game again.
I finally found a copy of the unreg file, and I have an Australian copy of the regular edition. It worked flawlessly for me. I'd mention where I got it from, but I'm not sure whether I'm allowed to or not, and I really don't want to be banned.

I tested it last night after installing it, and I tried one of the new adventures, and as I mentioned above, it worked fine for me. Installed the modified patch first, then the language pack, then 1.5, and no probs!

There are some copies of the US version floating around here. You must have one you lucky sob;)

I saw one in a JB clearance bin not long ago for $7, wish I'd grabbed it now ;(
The MA rating is printed on as well, it's not a sticker. hm.. weird, but cool :)
FWIW, that's how they do it in the States with those ratings, they're always printed right on the insert, never a sticker...

If any1 happens to find a EEunreg.exe that works for the international version, please PM me or better, post the link. :)

Thanks!

Since I don't know the rules of this blasted forum, etc, I don't even know if I could offer a US ISO to those who still can't register. It's frustrating and another example of why internet based DRM should NEVER exist..

Searching and playing around with TWEE_Upgrade-Unregpatch.zip might help some though..

Got it to work. No sure if I'm allowed to post the solution here though?

please tell us. I spent hours yesterday going through different iterations of trying to get it bypassed. I was getting close but my programming skills are very lax :(

The unreg patch fails expecting a file "TWEE_Upgrade-Unregistered.tmp"
So make a copy of your TWEE_Upgrade.exe file and while the unreg patch is running rename your copy to TWEE_Upgrade-Unregistered.tmp.

When it finishes you should have a file TWEE_Upgrade-Unregistered.exe that works as normal but without the requirement to check with the currently downed servers.

Seems the program is only creating a 8 character filename (TWEE_Upg.exe) in some circumstances.

Hope this helps.
