Witcher 2 patched to remove DRM.

No cigar on the Witcher 1 Retail register servers, it would've been nice if they could just update the EE patch with the 1.5 DRM removal change. Remove the need to register altogether.
well, despite I am fully against warez diffusion of this game series' material, expecially because imho it's so great it deservers to be bought twice or thrice, i got bored because i wanted to patch my game to enhanced edition and play before playing witcher 2, which i already bought in collector's edition.
So i went surfing and found on the net a file called : twee upgrade unreg patch.
It basically removes from the setup of the patch the registration check and allows you to patch your game flawlessy.
Add another person who wants to play Witcher 1 (TW!) before Witcher 2 (TW2) but presently cannot. I had TW1 running previously, but I have since replaced the hard drive it was on.

Because of the release of TW2 I loaded TW1 from the original DVD. I then went to run the EE and it would not run indicating I needed to register TW1. When I go to register TW1 (again) I get the "Connection error. Try again later." pop up.

I have also sent an email to CD Projekt Red with no response yet.

This if frustrating. Well, it is not like I don't have a plethora of other games to play.

pask70: I've got the same problem, and i bought the witcher again on this site, while it was in discount.
Sorry for my English

Thiev: If you bought the Witcher from GOG you don't have to register it, it is already fully patched.
There was a misunderstanding. I mean: i own an original dvd of The Witcher, i couldn't install the enhanced edition due to the registration issue, so i bought a new copy on gog when it was in discount
This is bullshit, to think that legitimate purchasers of this game have to deal with this crap and can't even play a game they spent their hard earned money on! This DRM needs to be removed NOW. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if someone started legal action against them.

FIX THE ISSUE AND LET ME UPGRADE MY GAME TO EE SO I CAN PLAY!
The Witcher site now admits the problems with forums and registration and that they are working to resolve them:

"Also since our forum is still not live and user registration is not working properly, please don't bother registering the game on the website yet.

So what's next? First we have setup our own team to improve the server structure and repair the above mentioned game registration. A team is also working to finalize our new forum. We will launch these services very soon. For sure, you will be informed as soon as they are ready here."

Yeah but I get the feeling that they are refering to the witcher 2 when they mention those problems. Still no acknowledgement of the witcher 1 problems.

I want to play one before playing 2. And not only are they stopping me, but they dont even acknowledge they are stopping me. This is complete bs.

Add another to the list of people who can't play. I was -this- close to buying the GoG version the other day, when it was on sale, but 8gb is a pretty big download, especially for someone who already owns the original version.

Still waiting on my copy of TW2 from the UK(I'm in Australia, takes a lil while), so hopefully the game will be up and running over the weekend for me to get some Witcher goodness in before I get my hands on part 2! I really can't wait!
FIX: This is the EXACT reason internet activation should NEVER be included. It punishes us legit users.

Google: TWEE_Upgrade-Unregpatch.exe

It patches the upgrader to skip registration. Works like a charm -- ENJOY!

Love you CDPR but this is example #9.9999,999 of why DRM should never exist.. thanks for realizing this on Witcher 2!
Oh and PS, install the 1.5 patch after you install the EE upgrade and it removes DRM -- Yay!
I too have an old retail copy of The Witcher and am attempting a reinstall. The Enhanced Edition patch requires registration which we are unable to currently do, but searching for "TWEE_Upgrade-Unregpatch.exe" only finds forum threads but not the actual download. Is there a place to grab this?

Hails to Digitalforce, who told me to google this instead: TWEE_Upgrade-UnregPatch.zip

I downloaded mine from a free site, but this doesn't seem to work, as it still wants to connect to the internet. Hrmm.

So far I've come to Chapter 2 in Vanilla Witch 1, so I hope the registration problem soon will be fixed, before I have a whole game to rediscover/ redo ;)

Well, off to Witcher 2 in the meantime! ;)
I don't think I am allowed to post direct links to that site.. but search for:

TWEE_Upgrade-Unregpatch.ZIP

Instead. I wish I could get confirmation from CDPR to just post the file..

That only works with some of the US releases not all. And none of the International releases aiui

You would think that since 1.5 removes the DRM, that they would simply release a 1.5 patch with the EE content included or produce their own Unregpatch. I get the feeling they just dont give a damn about us witcher 1 users.

They are probably just banking on you buying the GOG version that is already fully patched to 1.5 :(

If it wasn't CDPJR, I'd curse them to oblivion but yes, this is pretty bad. That unregpatch worked for me (US retail version)
