F1ach: I would suggest that you check and see if they fixed the camera problems, while it's a great (awesome) game, iirc it was designed for consoles initially and while I played it on console and had no issues, I seem to recall people complaining about the camera in the PC version and waiting in vain for a patch.
I didn't have much of a problem with the camera. It's a strange game, but really, really good. Try it - see if you like it - make sure you play past the opening couple of scenes, as the first fight felt a bit odd to me, but the game really opened up after that.
My regret buy is Giana Sisters. I hope DLC for it will be better.

SpiderFighter: Sorry for taking us off course here, but I wanted to say thank you for posting your thoughts; this is definitely something I'll want to pay attention to when making future purchases.
Each gamecard tells for which Windows releases GOG guarantees compatibility and support. I think they have said that if the game is playable on all their test PCs with that Windows version, it gets approved. If it fails even only on one, it will not be marked as compatible, even if it worked on all other PCs (with the same Windows version).

If a GOG game is not marked Windows 8 compatible, I think usually it means either of the two:

- GOG hasn't fully tested it yet on Windows 8 (on all their test systems).
- The game has severe issues on some Windows 8 configurations, not necessarily all.

That said, I am personally aware of one GOG game that apparently flat out refuses to run on Windows 8, while works fine on Windows 7: Haegemonia Gold. It works fine for me in Windows 7, but when I run it on the Windows 8 partition (of the same PC), I recall it just crashes after intro, when it was supposed to go to game menu.

Other users reported the same, I haven't so far heard anyone successfully running that game (at least the GOG version) on Windows 8. When I contacted GOG support, they confirmed there are problems with Windows 8 with that game, and that is why they haven't marked it compatible with Windows 8, only Windows 7 (and below).

I am unsure if Robin Hood is a similar case, or if "JustADreamer"'s problems are about something else. I might try it, I have a perfectly good setup to test if some game runs the same on both Windows 7 and 8, as I have both installed on the very same system, use the same driver versions etc.

Anyway, Haegemonia case clearly shows that it is quite possible for some game to be compatible with Windows 7, while failing on Windows 8. So apparently they aren't quite as much alike as some have suggested, as in "any game that works in Windows 7, will surely work also in Windows 8". Maybe that is true 95% of the time, but not quite all the time.

I REGRET NOTHING! *boom*
My regret buy is probably FEZ because the 'face' developer turned out to be an absolute asshat, drama queen, and dickhead. I realize that there are other developers of FEZ, but...that sour taste.

That and it turning out not to run on my computer didn't help.

I think my best purchases were Spelunky and TIM Megapack.
On a side note, I see a few people have hated Inquisitor. I must be a weirdo because I got it as a gift on Steam (Which is where 90% of my steam library comes from ,gifts from friends in different states. I definitely can't afford 99.9% of the library there since they charge tax.), and I've loved the hell out of it.

Well, by now I feel sorry for him and I don't think he's really a bad person after all. I think he really only slipped up once (with that remark on Japanese games that, let's be honest, many people could have made) and then things escalated. Sure, he kept making mistakes but he *was* in a situation which was hard to handle. Imagine finding yourself in a situation where suddenly the whole internet writes about you being an asshole. None of this may have happened if he hadn't said something *that many people think* in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Well, the thing that got me is that he couldn't just walk away. He kept feeding them and kept losing fingers.

Yeah, doesn't necessarily mean that he's a jerk. I know good people who behave like dicks under pressure and I know assholes who are experts at public speaking and apologizing.
My biggest regret is Arcanum Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. I heard many good things about the game and I expected something like Fallout but the game itself is pretty bad in my opinion, a lot of wasted potential. Especially the combat is really weak and boring.

Although I had many good purchases like Alpha Centauri which is absolutely amazing, Master of Orion 2 is also fairly great. Not to forget the Fallout series.
Regret:
Gothic 2 - Even my fundamental problems with it are moot given the fact it flat out doesn't work now.

Surprise:
Outcast - Plenty of great buys, but this one was the biggest surprise of the lot.

Sure, but most people didn't seem to flip and fry as much as he did.

It's not just me with this problem, read the game subforum and you will know this game just doesn't run on W8.

Regarding the Windows 7 and W8 compatibility issues, I don't expect every game to run out of the box but, like stated before, in my not so knowledgeable mind win 8 isn't that different under the hood, so there shouldn't be that many issues to resolve and that's what GOG was created for. Also, I remember we had those issues before with everything running smoothly on Vista and refusing to play on W7.

Woah I used to play it way back when it was just released and always thought it was amazing for its time. Have you finished it yet ?

No not yet. I'm currently suffering a Skyrim addiction.
