The biggest regret buy: Raiden Legacy.
The games in the collection are not bad by any means, they are pretty awesome arcade scrolling shooters but my problem with it is how poor the ports of these games are for this collection. The framerate is jerky (No excuse for it considering the games run better in MAME, even on my piece of crap laptop) and the lack of an option to have unlimited credits just ruins it for inexperienced scrolling shooters fans like myself.

Favorite purchase: Interstate '76.
This game is my favorite car combat game period, the atmosphere and style is pretty rad considering it has that groovy seventies feel to it. I also enjoy the sheer amount of customization you can do to your vehicle which already puts many other car combat games to shame since they are mostly arcade like games gameplay wise.
I've had pretty good luck with what I have bought here. Some of that is already having played something before and knowing what I am getting. There are probably a few things that got smuggled in with a group of games I won't ever get into, but I don't really consider that something to regret.

With that said I'm not sure I understood what "Haegemonia" was. Not sure I understand it now, and I think it's safe to say I won't get into it. I was also saddened to find out how poor a port Street Fighter Alpha 2 was. It comes with the extra sadness that we never got any other Capcom games. We had a bunch of hope all sired up with no real pay off. Then (and I'm going to get down reped for saying this) I couldn't find Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri all that entertaining. I gave it a good go, but I just didn't quite get the appeal despite thinking I would.

On the positive side I lost a lot of time to a number of games. I'm not sure there is any one game, just a few that I spent so much time playing that I felt bad about it. Space Rangers 2 was the first, then Two Worlds. I then made a good run at Kings Bounty which I would like to repeat (having HD death stricken my save down). Lately it's been The Pit.

Speaking of SOTS, I enjoyed Sword of the Stars, so if GOG ever wants to land those I would be happy to rebuy it as I don't have much faith in my Direct2Drive copy working.
Regret: 99 Levels to Hell. It's an extremely boring, extremely repetitive indie rogue-lite.

Favourite:Might and Magic 1-6. Flat out awesome value for your money (even at full price).
Bigest hate - Battle Isle

bigest love - Eador Genesis

Edit: Reason for hating battle isle; maps too cramped and small, just ridiculous.

Licurg: King of Dragon Pass - I bought it without knowing anything about it, and one of the few games I ever bought at full price. I feel like I mugged both GOG and the producers...
Weren't you the one who recommend I buy that game, and had a giveaway for it during the summer sale? King of Dragon Pass is probably my biggest regret, but I only paid like $1.29 for it, so I don't really feel that mad about it. Not a bad game, I just felt like I was micro-managing my citizens rather than macro-managing a town.

My favorite purchase would probably be Ultima 7. It just feels so ahead of its time(1992), and there's so much depth that has inspired modern games like Skyrim.

Tallima: Oh -- one more:
SimonG did a giveaway/contest where you had to beat or approach beating Realms of Arkania 1 and 2. I would have never played those games otherwise. And now I consider them some of the best RPGs ever made. They are really quite immersive and strategic.
Damn, that just made my day :D.

Thanks!!

keeveek: To the moon is the only game in MY LIFE that made me shed my manly tears, so you better watch out... :P

Crosmando: You should check out some eroge games bro, they will make you shed manly tears
At least, I hope those are tears...
Biggest regret - Signal Ops. I was having a panic attack, pacing around my house, yelling at dust bunnies, and decided to instabuy this on day one without knowing anything about it. I didn't even look at screenshots. It is not a horrible game or anything, but it is just not my type.

Favorite purchase... This one is much tougher. The easy answer is Deus Ex, even though I already owned a physical and Steam copy, I bought it so I could have it DRM-free with extra goodies. But that is kind of a cheap answer...
I'd have to say System Shock 2. I was nervous that I had hyped it up too much for myself, and might be let down. It turned out to be even better than I remembered/hoped for.

I must give special shout outs to Blood, FTL, Descent, and Resonance.
Biggest Regret? Full Price Witcher 2. I can watch the opening cutscene, but I cannot actually play the game. My graphic card just isn't quite high enough and it's apparently soldered in place. Which also has to be the most peculiar trait of a Mac Mini yet. (I'm not kidding.)

Favorite one... hmm favorite four maybe? Stronghold HD, Bard's Tale, Dungeon Keeper, Fallout. Most games I know pretty much what I'm getting. Those four though were all a surprise. Stronghold HD was much more in depth than I was expecting. Bard's Tale was genuinely funny. Dungeon Keeper was completely different. Fallout was both humorous and thought-provoking. I guess games that cause an honest reaction are pretty darn awesome.

Witcher EE deserves a spot too but I actually picked it up on Steam first. Anyways, still an incredible game and truly faithful to the books which is awesome.
No regrets. Even when something turned out as unworthy to spend time with, at least I had an opportunity to see that it's not for me. Otherwise I would likely still be interested in future purchase.

From newly discovered games I had never played before, my favorites are SpaceChem and Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, but one big problem with the later is that park attractions deteriorate with time, preventing you from simply enjoying building your park without any restrictions.
Since I firstly backup my old retail games (even if I buy new indy games here, not planned to have physical release), and since I take my time to buy games, waiting for other players' reviews, I do not have many regret when I buy games.
But my regrets here are the missing addons of Dungeon Keeper and Syndicate. It's not actually a big problem for me, since I already have physical copies, but more for other people who could have enjoyed these expansions (pretty tough ones). And some missing languages available on retail, too.

But I always hope that it is just a matter of time. My main regret is that are some interesting games outside not release yet, but hey, there are plenty surprises that will be happen on tuesdays and thursdays. ;)
(what's the date today?)
Regrets:
- Enclave: It seemed fun enough, walking around fighting enemies, kind of like a medevial first peron shooter without the shooting. Unfortunately the game is lacking any feeling of punch or meatyness, it's all just so boring. Puts me to sleep. Compare it to something as meaty as Dark messiah of Might & Magic and it's a difference like day and night.
- Alien Shooter 1 & 2 and Shadowgrounds: very good games except one fatal flaw, the levels go on for too long and you can't save during, only in between. i get it, they wanted to make it arcade-like with lives, but arcade-like games don't require you to sit down for an hour at a time. This is the kind of game I want to play for like 15 minutes as a quick adrenaline boost.
- Two Worlds: I don't want to jump on the hate bandwagon, but this game is not really hat interesting... Maybe it needs more time to get going, I haven't played it a lot since it requires Windows and even then my PC is not strong enough to run it fluently, so maybe, just maye, my opinion will change.

I didn't include any games I bought as parts of bundles where buying just what I want would be more expensive and I didn't count any of the free games either. Just games I intntionally bought.
Amazingly, none really in the regret section!

I'm pretty careful as to what I choose to purchase, and as such, not yet grabbed a game just off the shelf on a whim, so to speak. Perhaps it also helps that being DRM-free increases it's value for me, knowing that I can take my time to enjoy a game, and if I had liked it a little less, still have a whole life to prod around, finding the good in it.

On the other hand, I have purchases I seriously regretted on Steam. Just luckily I didn't get them at full price or I'd want to stab an eye out.

For favorites, no verdict yet, unfortunately, as I've yet to play 100% of everything I bought/received in my GOG library, but I'm working on it! And so far, those that I liked a lot, ranks up there almost equally as high as each other, where I'd replay many times, when the chance comes up.

I mentioned KoDP as my BEST purchase... Why would I feel like I mugged GOG if I had been unsatisfied ? Damn it, does nobody read carefully anymore ? :/
