Detective-mystery meets paranormal thriller!
A season pass for Cognition. An Erica Reed Thriller, an episodic point-and-click adventure story packed with challenging puzzles, branching paths, and a disquieting mood, is available on GOG.com 33% off. That's only $19.99 for the first week.
Erica Reed is an exceptional detective, but being special always comes at a price. Her extraordinary gift, allowing her a peek into the past by simply touching an object, makes her the ultimate bloodhound, and yet, causes excruciating mental pain. Her own past is marred irreparably by a personal tragedy. Can she conquer her demons by solving one morbid case after another, or will the unfading shadow of her brother's killer torment her forever? The mystery thickens, as someone starts leaving clues, that can only be uncovered with the use of Erica's unique ability. Who? Why? Can the troubled detective last long enough to find out?
So wait a minute--a season pass?
This may be something new for some of you, so we wanted to let you guys know what we mean by "Season Pass."Cognition. An Erica Reed Thriller consists of four episodes (fourth of which will be released on GOG.com, on 19 September 2013), each of them investigating a seemingly unrelated murder case. Each mystery is its own self-contained game, and when you buy a season pass you'll get all of the games in the "season". You're essentially preordering a season of episodic games. In this case, we already have Episodes 1, 2, and 3 available right now, so you're only preordering Episode 4, which is coming out in a week's time. By buying a season pass now, you're saving 33% off the price of the full season. So if this looks like your kind of thing, picking it up now saves you $9.99.
Uncover dark mysteries behind grisly killings and lead detective Erica Reed to absolution over four tension-filled episodes of Cognition. An Erica Reed Thriller, available DRM-free on GOG.com, for only $19.99. The offer lasts until Thursday, September 19, at 5:59AM GMT.

MichiGen: No that's wrong, let me fix it for you :)
He wasn't talking about this game, follow the conversation back. :P

MichiGen: Oh, my bad. I've read only their last posts, so it was out of context. :D
And I didn't notice there was another page!

That´s how I like season passes ;)

Crosmando: Yes, the previous company that made the first 4 episodes went out of business and closed down. But the game was revived by its writer/designer who got the rights back, and finished episode 5.
And made it Steam only in the process.
I have to admit, I’ve never paid this game much attention. But now that I looked twice and watched the trailer it does look interesting.

I’ll wait for the Linux port though.

KneeTheCap: Kinda like the Walking Dead, then ?
Hmm, aren't TWD episodes shorter than 3 hours? But yeah, I guess overall time will be similar to the full season of TWD.

Novotnus: ...
Ah, yes, you're right. I always thought it was short-term change and mostly there for adding to the mood instead of affecting latter parts. But yeah, I sucked at the interrogation scene and looked like a brute compared to my colleague. It kinda hurt when I discovered I could have been gentler. I guess I'm good at roleplaying Erica :D.

katiehal16: To expand on this--the discount varies depending on how many episodes you already own. So:

- if you have 3 episodes, the Season Pass is only $9.99
- if you have 2 episodes, the Season Pass is only $15.99
- if you have one episode, the Season Pass is $22.99

zorach: Awesome. Are you counting Indie Royale purchases here or only direct from Phoenix?
Anyone who's got previous episodes, just forward your proof of purchase on in :)

The pages are flipping over too fast sometimes :D
Thanks for your conversation btw, I haven't heard about that game yet (Winter Voices) and it looks really interesting. Wonder if it will ever come to GOG.
By the way. One question. Can you die in this game?

cdnred: I think the bundling was to try to get some word of mouth exposure. Initially I don't think this was on any major distributors which would really cut back on sales.

I'll pick this up after I play the first two if I enjoy them.
It's been in quite a few bundles, including two spots on Indie Game Stand and a couple of Groupees appearances. On top of that they've frequently been on sale on sites like GamersGate, Desura, ShinyLoot, etc.

RPGler: By the way. One question. Can you die in this game?
Yes. But it's rare.

I hope so. I don't buy indies with DRM and I always wanted to try it.

SirPrimalform: If the full price of the season is $30, shouldn't it be a bit closer to $7.50 for those who own 3 episodes?

As far as I can make out from those discount tiers, the first episode costs $7, the second episode costs $7, the third episode costs $6 and the last one costs $10. Is that intentional?
Regularly, each episode is priced at $9.99, actually. This was set up with consideration to how much are you paying for remaining episodes. If you own 3, you're paying for one episode ($9.99); if you own two, you're paying $15.99, which is a discount from what would otherwise cost $19.98 for two single episodes; if you own just one episode, you're paying $22.99, instead of $29.97.

Though right now, the Season Pass is on sale for $19.99.

Am I a cheap bastard if I won the full season during Episode 3 release party, have E1 and E2 form bundles and want to re-buy on GOG (because I love GOG) but want another (even small) discount? : )

stika: I think they're giving away discount codes if you own the previous episodes

Thanks for doing this, I've sent an email for the fourth-title price. I own the first three from FIreFlower Games, the only titles I've ever bought from there apart from Pulse Shift. Would much rather have them on GOG. :)

Best of luck with the series here!
This looks interesting. Someone had mentioned it on the forums a while back but I never looked up the reviews.

Cool to see season passes.

I can't remember if the new Dreamfall will be released episodically or not?

ShadowWulfe: I can't remember if the new Dreamfall will be released episodically or not?
No, it won't. Dreamfall Chapters will be released as the full game. It was supposed to be sold as episodes ages ago, under Funcom, but RTG decided it will be better this way.
