Detective-mystery meets paranormal thriller!
A season pass for Cognition. An Erica Reed Thriller, an episodic point-and-click adventure story packed with challenging puzzles, branching paths, and a disquieting mood, is available on GOG.com 33% off. That's only $19.99 for the first week.
Erica Reed is an exceptional detective, but being special always comes at a price. Her extraordinary gift, allowing her a peek into the past by simply touching an object, makes her the ultimate bloodhound, and yet, causes excruciating mental pain. Her own past is marred irreparably by a personal tragedy. Can she conquer her demons by solving one morbid case after another, or will the unfading shadow of her brother's killer torment her forever? The mystery thickens, as someone starts leaving clues, that can only be uncovered with the use of Erica's unique ability. Who? Why? Can the troubled detective last long enough to find out?
So wait a minute--a season pass?
This may be something new for some of you, so we wanted to let you guys know what we mean by "Season Pass."Cognition. An Erica Reed Thriller consists of four episodes (fourth of which will be released on GOG.com, on 19 September 2013), each of them investigating a seemingly unrelated murder case. Each mystery is its own self-contained game, and when you buy a season pass you'll get all of the games in the "season". You're essentially preordering a season of episodic games. In this case, we already have Episodes 1, 2, and 3 available right now, so you're only preordering Episode 4, which is coming out in a week's time. By buying a season pass now, you're saving 33% off the price of the full season. So if this looks like your kind of thing, picking it up now saves you $9.99.
Uncover dark mysteries behind grisly killings and lead detective Erica Reed to absolution over four tension-filled episodes of Cognition. An Erica Reed Thriller, available DRM-free on GOG.com, for only $19.99. The offer lasts until Thursday, September 19, at 5:59AM GMT.

Stooner: But this one we don't know if it'll ever be completed... :/

Crosmando: Last episode is in beta, so I say yes.
Really? Well, that's cool. ;p
The last released episode dates back to October...
Great, little by little GOG becomes Steam, only with the comfortable client and without the Linux support. And at least the last one is a deal breaker for me.
I love the releases of old games here (thank you very much for Kyrandia by the way), but I only buy new games here if they are significantly cheaper and there will be no Linux port.

katiehal16: To expand on this--the discount varies depending on how many episodes you already own. So:

- if you have 3 episodes, the Season Pass is only $9.99
- if you have 2 episodes, the Season Pass is only $15.99
- if you have one episode, the Season Pass is $22.99
Awesome. Are you counting Indie Royale purchases here or only direct from Phoenix?

Yes, the previous company that made the first 4 episodes went out of business and closed down. But the game was revived by its writer/designer who got the rights back, and finished episode 5.

I think they're talking about a different game here

JohnWalrus: Wow, season pass, eh? Pretty interesting the new ways GOG sells games now :)
the same way everybody else has been selling games for years now. about time GOG got with the times.

Oh, my bad. I've read only their last posts, so it was out of context. :D
Faster than I thought and directly bought. Thank you GOG!

justanoldgamer: Does every episodes feel like a full game or 1/4 of one in duration?
3-4 hours per each episode, rough estimate.
Quite a steep price IMO. I played the first episode ages ago and it really wasn't all that impressive. The writing was pretty cliched and I was chuckling how unintentionally comedic the seriuous tones of the story were. Though I have no idea if it gets better as I lost interest after I finished the first episode.

Kinda like the Walking Dead, then ?

katiehal16: We're really excited to finally be on GOG, and for Episode 4's release next week! :D

I hope that helps clear it up. :)
If the full price of the season is $30, shouldn't it be a bit closer to $7.50 for those who own 3 episodes?

As far as I can make out from those discount tiers, the first episode costs $7, the second episode costs $7, the third episode costs $6 and the last one costs $10. Is that intentional?

Mivas: "Your Choices Matter – Each episode features branching paths, different ways to be complete and solve key puzzles, ensuring different paths for Erica to take to solve the mystery." - Eh, what? I didn't know that, lol.
There are choices (let Robert go or keep him for questioning; different ways of handling conversations with your superiors; different ways to act when Wise Monkey tries to drive over you) - small things, but still fun to find :)

And... I don't know how this is different from TellTale titles we already have on GOG. If the world keeps turing, we will get the final episode next week, so there is no risk in this 'season pass'.

Nice. It really sucks to see things unfinished like that..
Still, a year is a damn looong time. ;p
