Once again I'd like to encourage people to try Linux & draw some more attention to the beginner's guide I wrote. I know a lot of people have concerns about ease of use, compatibility and availability of games on Linux - and I admit it certainly does have its share of issues - but it has come a very long way in recent years and it's better than ever.

It's a great time to use Linux - distros like Linux Mint are very easy to use, hardware compatibility and driver support is improving and there are more & more games coming to Linux... and as more people start using Linux more developers will feel inclined to bring their games to it. It was only in February 2013 that Steam officially introduced Linux support; by June this year there were over 2200 Linux games on Steam and now we're already approaching 3000.

For the games that don't make their way to Linux natively, Wine too has been improving a lot and there are now many Windows games (as well as other software) that run great with it, and with front-ends like and [url=https://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover-linux]CrossOver it's also pretty easy to use. Even if a game doesn't run in Wine yet it's only a matter of time before it does (and by that point it'll probably be cheaper, and might even have an official Linux port already).

So, if anyone's even a little curious about Linux I encourage you to take a look at the guide and consider trying Linux: The "Try Linux" Repost/Rewrite (a "beginner's guide") :)

-

Now, on to the giveaway details:

I've been planning & building up to this giveaway for over a year and the prize list has ended up being much larger than the others I've done - too big to fit in a single post with all the links - so it has been spread out over the following posts.

Every game in this giveaway is DRM-free (all but one are GOG keys) and playable on Linux, if not natively then through DOSBox/Wine/etc.

I have personally tested all of the Windows games here in Wine (albeit not all as thoroughly as I'd have liked due to time constraints) and they are indicated by links to their compatibility reports posted in The "Judas™ does this run in Wine" thread v1.173. Games with italicised entries use DOSBox and it should be possible to get those running using the Linux version of DOSBox, although I haven't tested most of those myself.

To enter, you just need to post here listing the games you want in order of preference. The giveaway is open to everyone, subject to the rules below - using or trying Linux is encouraged, but not a requirement in any way. Feel free to enter for as many prizes as you're interested in; only one prize can be awarded per winner.

The giveaway will run until Thursday 15th December at 19:00 UTC

Rules:
- No rep requirement but I reserve the right to disqualify entries at my discretion.
- Winners will be selected randomly after the giveaway ends
- Each winner will receive one prize - whichever of the remaining prizes is their most preferred.
- Please only enter for games that you don't already have (entering to replace retail copies of older games is ok though).
- Please only enter for games that your system can run.
- Please only enter for games that you're interested in, intend to play & won't just let rot in a backlog.
- Keys are for your own use only/not to be traded (except for leftovers from multi-game keys which may be re-gifted but not traded)
- Anything not redeemed within one week after being awarded will either be given to another entrant or reused for a future giveaway.

Previously I didn't participate because 1) I'm already using Linux 2) I couldn't run most of these, but something-about-third-times-being-charming-or-maybe-me-buying-a-new-laptop:

Pillars of Eternity
Divinity: Original Sin
Tyranny
Wasteland 2
Neverwinter Nights 2
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
Dragon Age
Hard West
Invisible Inc.
Transistor
Bioshock
Mirror's Edge

Even cutting it down this much was difficult, it's an amazing list. Thanks for doing this once again!

I am in

Starbound
Anno pack
Infinifactory
Kerbal Space Program
Mirror's Edge
The Saboteur

besides free and opensource games I have played Quake and Doom on Ubuntu.
Thank you adamhm for this massive giveaway.

I'd like to be in for Anno pack.
I'm in also, and wow, a stellar list of games!

I'd like to put my hat in the ring for:
Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition
Ziggurat
Kerbal Space Program
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Mount & Blade: Warband + Napoleonic Wars + Viking Conquest
The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing: Final Cut

Considering your rule about regifting leftovers from multigame keys, I'm not sure if it is okay to be in for The Elder Scrolls Classics Bundle (Redguard, Battlespire, Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind), as I own Battlespire already (which then automatically adds Arena and Daggerfall). If it IS okay, then I'd like to be in for that, and it would be my top preference (and of course, I'd pass the remaining keys to anyone else who had wanted them). Out of curiousity, was your test of Morrowind using Wine, or OpenMW?

I have a dualboot laptop with xubuntu and windows 7, but these days, unfortunately, the only time I use xubuntu is when windows 7 is acting up (which is happening more frequently now, actually). I haven't even switched over to 16.04 yet...maybe I should one of these days. Who knows, maybe they've made nvidia driver compatibility stuff easier to do now...
Great list.

I'm in

Worms: Armageddon
Bastion
Shovel Knight
Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum!
SOMA

If I didn't know you, I'd believe it is a joke. :P What can I say, thank you for your generosity and for spreading the word for Linux. I've been a Linux user for more than 12-13 years or so (currently running Mint for which I'm perfectly happy and does everything I want) and I do play games on my Linux system, although only those that can run on my T410 (mainly classic point & click adventures). I use my desktop (Windows 7) to play more hardware demanding games.

That been said, I'd like to be in for:

• Tyranny - Commander Edition
• Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion Ultimate Edition
Which games work on raspberry pi 3? (edit: typo, can't even spell the name right...)

...what?

Anyway, huge kudos to you. I'm definitely actively probing Linux systems for the near future, even bought myself the afore mentioned Pi3 to gently break my cherry. Zo, for ze lizt:

Transport Fever
Tyranny - Commander Edition
Baldur's Gate + Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Editions
Homeworld Remastered Collection
GUN
The Original Strife: Veteran Edition

You stole Santa Claus' list, isn't it ? Thanks for a so huge GA.
Not in, because I'm not feel ready to try Linux. I think I need to see it running FOR REAL to be convinced, but I know nobody in real life who has a Linux system and I don't see the interest to use it myself currently. I'am also a bit control freak about my PC, so I try to avoid new things that I don't really understand, even if I admit it's a stupid reaction.
In my newbie vision of Linux, it may be useful for programming softwares or to avoid virus, trojans or malwares more focus on windows and mac systems (maybe I'm wrong ?).
So, I'm not feel comfortable to enter for games if I don't share your interest for Linux, but I hope for you more games "Linux friendly" on GOG.
