insurrection is boring

nemesis is a lot of things but never boring

darthspudius: I liked Insurrection, it felt like a long episode but it was very nicely shot.
The music was great too. The worst thing about that movie is losing Riker's beard. Nothing justifies that. Good thing it's back for Nemesis.

OK again this movie is doing something dumb.

Picard pick a Woman and stick with em.

What happen with Crusher? What's with you and this chick?

So I just watched Inssurection. My reaction so far.

Zzzzzzzzz :P

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. The first half of the movie was more intersting. With Data going all whack.

OK not to say that there are not good moments. That one moment where Geordi for the first time sees a Sunrise with his own natural eyes is touching. Its a blind man who can see the world for the first time.

That moment reminds is like the moment when we see more of McCoy's backstory in Final Froniter.

But the rest of the movie is just silly. Between Data and Picard doing a sing along, dumb dialog, not that high of a stake, stupid things.

I am amazed that people consider Nemesis worse. How can Nemesis be worse than this? I rank this movie equal to Final Frontier but I still think Voyage Home is my absolute least favorite movie.

So Nemesis. Here we go the movie that "Killed" Star Trek.

So basically Nemesis is the real "Final Chapter" of this era of Star Trek that includes TNG, DS9, and Voyeger?

Should of took the wig off his head instead.

Well, it is the final installment in it (unless you count the countdown comic prequel to the 2009 movie). But it only closes TNG, does not tuch on DS9 or Voy, and even for TNG it's kind of a halfhearted closure, like they were not quite sure if it is the end or maybe not.

Not saying that is it relevent to DS9 and Voyeger. Only that all 3 series exist in the same reletive time frame.

Like the TOS era officially ended with Undiscovered Country. (Despite the fact that TNG was still airing along side Star Trek 5 and 6)

Breja: I may be wrong, it's been a while since I've seen the movie, but I don't think the Nexus gave them such an infinity of options. It's not the Guardian of Forever. I think they could only go where the Nexus already was (or was going to be). And possibly not to a time where they already exist elsewhere.
You are indeed wrong. There were no limitations.

To Elfomongo. I really recommend you watch DS9 before the 3 last movies, I read now you've watched the 2(first contact and insurrection) and probably Nemesis now but they do indeed contain small small spoilers for DS9. And also answers to questions that DS9 posted.

Fortunately I forgotten most of the spoilers of DS9 from the movies ;)

Besides I was thinking of watching the movies in tandem with the series in order to get context of the continiuity nod. Like say if I reach a certain season episode of DS9 I'll watch First Contact.

Well, other than the Prime Directive that is.

WASN'T THE WHOLE LAST MOVIE ABOUT TIME TRAVEL?!
time travel in star trek : a plot point and then conveniently forgotten untill the next time its needed again
whats the point of introducing time travel if your not going to do anything with it then ?

crusher is the ex wife of picards best friend jack crusher and jack died under picard command
picard also brought jack home

thats not exactly grounds to start a relationship
im pretty sure both are attracted to each other but not willing to move forward because of jack and his memory and legacy

and i did tell you that insurrection is boring at best

nemesis is only the capstone for tng
voayger and ds9 ended pretty decisively on their own
what killed star trek was not nemesis but enterprise because it was so awfull

What are you talking about? I am discussing the physical laws of the nexus in Generations. it didn't have anything to do with the Prime directive.

Technically Picard could have gone back and saved his relatives from dying of a fire, or anything really. Or if not stretch it, he could have gone to the planet an HOUR before Soran had even come there and grab him once Soran was landing. The point being, showing up like 5 minutes (or so) before launch is such a huge stupid plot hole it really destroys not only the movie but also impacts the meaning of Kirk's death as being well, due to stupid planning and not for saving a whole star system.

You point put as a plothole that Picard could have gone to any point in time and for example save his relatives. He couldn't, because that would be fucking with the time stream, forbidden by the Temporal Prime Directive. The same way going back too early to stop Soran would end up with two Picards. So again, kinda fucking with time there, aren't we?

If we disregard the absurdity that they feel they are bound by a "directive" while saving a star system from a mad scientist, actually saving the star system is also messing with the time stream since it had already happened. And there should be two Picards when they are trying to stop Soran too. I guess that is also bad writing, thanks for pointing that out.

I'm sorry but you are grasping at straws, trying to justify the ending. Can't you just admit it was a shitty plot hole.

It happend because Soran disrupted the natural path of the Nexus. They are trying to undo his intereference with as little messing up themselves along the way as possible.

I'm sorry you sound so angry and bitter about it. It's not a plot hole that really matters. Does it change so much in the movie if they stop him at 6 o'clock or at 5:30? You're acting as if that detail somehow invalidated the whole movie. If I watched the movie recently I could discuss it better. Then again, talking to you isn't exactly fun, so I don't think I'd want too :D
