snowkatt: it is very odd to see him with out that visor but so far i havent found any thing substantiating my claim that burton was fed up with the visor so maybe i am mis remembering things

and burton doesnt appear in ds9 but he does direct several episodes ( around 10 in ds9 8 in voyager and 9 in enterprise )
Alright the Borg Queen. In a sense I feel like the Borg Queen was spawned when that one Borg came inside the Enterprise.

But than again the Borg is a collective Mind so the one Borg that came in the ship had the Queen in his mind.

no each cube has a queen

but she was only really created to give the crew a "face " to rail against
and the audiance an antagonist to look at

Thank goodness because some stupid screenwriter/storyboard person could have easily added that.

Elmofongo: I am now watching First Contact and I have read something in Star Trek lore before that sadly World War 3 happened on Earth. Pretty sad fate for Humanity in the Star Trek universe.
Well, there is actually a lot of such stuff in Star Trek lore - violent civil disturbances (more on that in ds9), eugenics wars, world war 3. It makes the utopia of Trek more beliveable I hink, when you know that humanity did not just become saints overnight, but went through hell to finally get a clue.

This is what I love about it. There is a lot of back story as to why Earth became such peace loving hippies. The WW3 era is quite grim.

Not so much a utopia when Earth itself even in the 24th century is still divided by Nation States.

One has nothing to do with the other. It's not like there is still any conflict or rivalry between them, there's no national armies, closed borders, and there is one common government.

Well than again its probably to keep humanity's cultural diversity.

What would humanity be without say French Culture, Latin culture, Arab culture, Asian Culture, etc.

Well I watched First Contact. It was a good movie. And it certainly felt more like a MOVIE than Generations.

Generations really felt like a really long TV episode. Especially its pacing. I felt all the Pacing of the TNG series in the first TNG movie.

First Contact did not. It had a more proper "Movie" pacing.

There were silly moments like Steppenwolf :P

And imo the Vulcans that first contacted humanity should have said "We come in peace" instead of "Live Long and Prosper" but thats just Nitpicking.

People complain Picard was too out of character with his rage since he was never like this in the show that infamous NO scene when Picard smashed his ship exhibit. But that scene was recitfyed with the Captain Ahad parallel. And the crew certainly acknowledge Picard's lack of judgement.

All in all a worthy movie for TNG. I put it just below Undiscovered Country and above Generations.

Alright here we Star Trek Inssurection and than Nemesis. Ooh boy wish me luck.
^your gonna need
insurrection is boring

nemesis is a lot of things but never boring

At least a plot that copies Wrath of Khan is certainly better than a boring "Original" story.

One thing I missed.

To me the more intersting part of First Contact was in the Enterprise. I could care less about what was happening on Earth.

I don't even know what's going on in this movie.

I liked Insurrection, it felt like a long episode but it was very nicely shot.
