^no but what brooks did was good
and he has left behind 7 years and 173 episodes worth of great star trek episodes

darthspudius: The green screen on DS9's debut episode is quite amusing. it is very very bad.
And yet I assure you I've seen worse as recently as last year in Turn: Washington's Spies. Though truth be told pretty much everything sucked about that series.

And I have seen bad examples of Green Screen in TNG already so its not really a problem soley on DS9.

So I watched the first episode. And well its not bad, but lets just say that it certainly feels like an episode that could have been on TNG.

So glad that you like The Sisko!

They did that on purpose so it felt like you were flowing from one show to the next. They didn't want a stark BOOM here's something completely different, because of the fear of a backlash from the devoted Star Trek fan base. They eased us in and did it very very well, IMO, especially given how different DS9 is from TNG ultimately. Oh dude, I'm excited for you, really, watching it for the first time. My GF and I are a few episodes into season 7 on her first watch-through of the series. It's even better the 2nd time through, too. And holds up very well for a 4th and 5th watch through (though 7th season gets a little pedantic IMO, but still a great story.)

Gah,I would love to watch this show for the first time again. I was genuinely quite sad when it ended. DS9 was a big part of growing up. :D

Right now I have to juggle between playing KOTOR 2 for the first time (Already did Dantooien) and watching this for the first time. I say I am gonna focus on playing KOTOR 2 fast since its much more faster to do than watching all 7 season of DS9.

Now in episode 5 and I must admit so far this first season feels much more better writtern and has better production values than TNG's rather weak first season.

So how long until they begin mentioning the Dominion? Or the War that will follow?

And to avoid spoilers just mention the season number and episode.

Well, they had 5 seasons worth of TNG experience when making the first one DS9.

Really, I think you know too much already, just knowing it will happen. Just watch it. The less you know when and what to expect the more fun it will be.
