Attacked on Titan.

FLASHBACK™ is now available for pre-order DRM-free, 10% off.

As resilient as its scientist protagonist, the legendary platformer FLASHBACK™ returns in its 25th anniversary with an additional Modern mode! The game will be released on GOG.com on December 4th.

amok: £8.99 is now a "higher price point"?

gamesfreak64: If the original game is in it then the 8.99 is okay, i hope it wont be like DOTT where you have to start the new game and select / switchback to the old game , i hope they are seperated , cause i dont care for remakes or blurry ( simon the sorcerer) new versions cause the devs got a brand new toy to play with and want to show it to the entire world.( like mickeysoft did with its awful win 10 ( et phone home would have been a much better name for win 10)

I'm classic and old so i prefer old games.... no remakes if possible please cause usually they tend to be meh, or even garbage.
and yet Day of The Tentacle is an excellent example of a remake. Everything was very faithfully re-created etc.
Right. So that filter is... - whose idea was that? :D
But it can be turned off, fine then! Thank you for this.
It is a Good Old Game, and deserves to be here, surely.
I watched someone stream this a few months ago maybe, and it was fun to watch again.
One thing that brought back - the saving system sucked, at least to me.
But there is a "rewind" - feature in this... remake. Maybe the saving system is improved.

yup it was, but cpu is sweating i mean a 2.66 quad should be able to run it without getting over 65 degrees celcius, 65 might seem low but it is not recommended to run it for a long period of time , full throtlle is same story i had to adjust settings in the nividia panel to lower it a little , i suspect too many FPS , thats 9 out of 10 the case with remakes, and 99% of all Unitygames , 60 fps tops is good enough but it seems Unity games are not set to 60 fps.

Googled best cpu temp one of the results:

You can check the specifications of your particular CPU at CPU World, which details the maximum operating temperature for many processors. In general you should consider 60 degrees Celcius the absolute maximum for long periods, but aim for 45-50 degrees to be safe.24 okt. 2018

I get what you're saying, and you might be at right blaming the game, and I have no idea what kind of system you have... But have you done the ventilation well enough and is it without any overclocking, and in case of laptops at least, have you had it cleaned of dust...? Just a few thoughts. But I know Unity games are heavier so to speak, compared to games with more lower level code or at least more optimized graphics engines etc.

Plokite_Wolf: Hope they don't forget the sequel, Fade To Black.

Fonzer: What there was a sequel?
Didn't know that, thanks for mentioning. Was it a good game?
It was released in the time when 3D just started to take over the market, and it looks terrible from today´s perspective, but back then it was cutting edge.
I haven´t played it, but looked at some reviews from that time and in general they were complaining about the wonky controls, otherwise they were more or less content, but it wasn´t as revolutionary as a first game.
I never played the original, but when i saw this i immediately was like "wait, is this a new game trying really hard to pretend being an old game? 'cause this looks like shit."

Smearing is only good on text layers, and even then when not applied too roughly. I never understood the overzealous anti-aliasing schemes being called "improved graphics." No, you're just hiding how bad the graphics really are by obscuring the edges.

Maybe we could finally get OG Prince of Persia (and The Shadow and the Flame) on GOG now, to complete the PoP/Another World/Flashback trifecta of classic cinematic platformers?

aluinie: Heard a lot about the game from my then amiga fans although i had an atari st and it was never released for it. Might pick it up sometime.
Wow, I think the true flashback in this thread is this sentence right there. Brings back memories of the Amiga/Atari war" :-)

The modern mode is such a cheap excuse to justify a bloated price tag. Way to promote old games...

Remember back when GOG used to sell games like Baldurs Gate 2 complete for 5 bucks?
great job on getting us this gem, i do wish for more now :)

DarthJDG: Thankfully, it doesn't say remaster, nor HD in the title (which it's not), and I'll be happy to buy the original. "Modern mode" seems to be a sorry excuse to justify a slightly higher price point, but this game worths as much in itself anyway.

Move the decimal point to the left and you have a good price but I'm not going to complain if pixel hipsters are happy with it at the moment.
God, I loved this game on my Amiga. Pretty sure my reaction time isn't as great as 25 years ago. ;)

The normal temperature pretty much depends on the type of CPU as you can see here.

My first PC back in the day was an XT (8086 CPU) and not once was I even able to harm my PC with too hight CPU temps - not a single component. I was able to get a GPU too hot once and all that happened was that the card turned itself off. You really should not worry too much about temperatures. It's important to get them not too high and have some good airflow/fans but really - don't worry too much.

Regarding too many frames rendered turning vsync on should always help if you don't have a monitor supporting more than 60FPS.

For those of you waiting, Deadlight has similar mechanics. A nice quick run jump and gun (emphasis on the run and jump) to hold you over until December 4th.

Just realized that Arnold Schwarzenegger in 'Last Action Hero' has the same outfit as the guy in Flashback. Weird.
