Attacked on Titan.

FLASHBACK™ is now available for pre-order DRM-free, 10% off.

As resilient as its scientist protagonist, the legendary platformer FLASHBACK™ returns in its 25th anniversary with an additional Modern mode! It brings a post-FX graphic filter, remastered music and sound, tutorials, and a Rewind function which should make your attempt at escaping Titan slightly easier.

The game will be released on GOG.com on December 4th.
Will this be included as a remastered bonus track? ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b01xSx-jizw

SCPM: One of my all time favorite games, instabought! Also hoping to see Fade to Black come back as well. :)

karnak1: And Heart of Darkness :)
Playing Heart of Darkness on the OG Playstation with a friend, and switching off every time we died (which was often).
The chase scene as we tried to run away, chanting the sequence of actions - " Jump, jump, roll, run, roll, roll, jump, run..."
Ahh, nostalgia hits like a great big shadow monster.
That's nice - I mean, I just need a digital DRM-free release of the game to complete my Flashback collection :-P

BUT... why the pre-order? It's not like you need to modify the code of a DOS-based game, am'right? :-P

*EDIT: wait, I just read there's some shitty new graphics mode included that will destroy the original pixel art. Oh well....

Thankfully, it doesn't say remaster, nor HD in the title (which it's not), and I'll be happy to buy the original. "Modern mode" seems to be a sorry excuse to justify a slightly higher price point, but this game worths as much in itself anyway.

Switching back to the original pixel graphics is fine, but can you turn off that butt-ugly gaussian blurred background? I'd rather go with standard black pillarboxing on wide screens.

I really don't understand the fascination with these filters, has anyone done any market research on it? Does anybody find them appealing?

Old games worked with a limited resolution for technical reasons, but the artwork was designed specifically with that in mind. The end result is part of the art style. The human brain is amazing at filling in missing details, but a computer will never figure out what shape those 3 pixels supposed to be.

I think the target audience would be happy with crisp pixels, and people who don't like pixellated graphics, won't be lured in with a blurry wobbly mess either.

SirPrimalform: Just make sure you use actual blood in future.
This brand is the best i've used myself; highly recommended.

I like the way REminiscence handles the edges. You can have it pillarboxed, mirrored edges or adjacent rooms.

Nice, the adjacent rooms looks interesting, those features weren't there last time I played. Time for another play through.

MaxFulvus: This "HD" remake looks blurry. I'm not convinced at all !
I gotta agree...

I love that they've have made it more "modern" but this is way too blurry for me. Imagine D.I.G. being this blurry...

£8.99 is now a "higher price point"?

amok: £8.99 is now a "higher price point"?
I said "slightly". :) And I think there are plenty of gems in the under £8 category.

SpiderFighter: Flashback is terrific, but I hope "Modern mode" means that it's optional, because the graphical update has, imho, completely removed the charm of the game.
avatar
karnak1: The game includes the original version + plus the shitty "Post-FX graphic filters", which means that you can play with the original beautiful pixel graphics.
Thanks!

nice to read cause i hate blurry games :D
seperate games ? or another switch from the menu it like in DOTT ? (✖╭╮✖)
Why do devs always feel they have to make a 'new' version of an all time classic game ? most of the time the result is meh and a pain for the eyes ٩(×̯×)۶

ahwell i guess i will have to jump in the deep end and hope i will be able to surface again ٩◔‿◔۶

edit::: (+_+)(+_+)(+_+) pre order ? oh boy (。-_-。)
seems it is NOT the old classic game then but added to a souped up version (。-_-。)

If the original game is in it then the 8.99 is okay, i hope it wont be like DOTT where you have to start the new game and select / switchback to the old game , i hope they are seperated , cause i dont care for remakes or blurry ( simon the sorcerer) new versions cause the devs got a brand new toy to play with and want to show it to the entire world.( like mickeysoft did with its awful win 10 ( et phone home would have been a much better name for win 10)

I'm classic and old so i prefer old games.... no remakes if possible please cause usually they tend to be meh, or even garbage.
