Fade to Black next? :P

If it is I will surely complete this game once and for all. One of the biggest disappointment in my gaming experience. At least the music is okay.
Not wanting to rain in anyone's party, but if it's the same version we got for the Switch earlier this year, its terrible.

Also, quite expensive for a simple remake, no?

I like the switch version mostly. But here it's half the price, and has features that the Switch version DOESN'T have. Considering I paid twice the cost on Switch, I really hope the new features in this version are brought over to the Switch, if not, it's an insult to switch owners.
Price is good, should have been this price also on Switch and I would've bought it there already.

Does this Flashback remaster mean that this new version is technically better than Flashback Reminiscience?

It combines PC graphics, Amiga music and Sega CD voices. Basically the ultimate version so far.

Was the Switch version badly done as previous posters say?

You can do that with REminiscence too. Does this new version have scaler and screen edge options like REminiscence?

To me an ultimate version would be using the higher resolution graphical assets from the Macintosh version (Conrad actually has a face!), which I believe you can also do with REminiscence but I don't own the Mac version so I can't test it.
Easy wishlist title to add and buy. Always loved this game and the ability to customise it sounds great.

Yes, by it I meant REminiscence is the ultimate version so far. I didn't know that about the Mac version, that's really cool.

Paul Cuisset, the original developer of Flashback, is behind this commercial anniversary version that is coming to GOG and he did some years ago the absolutely atrocious remake version of Flashback for consoles like PS3 and Xbox 360. It had ugly 3D graphics etc. so I am a bit worried what kind of release is this anniversary version.

REminiscensce with SEGA CD speech is still the ultimate version, nothing can beat it. Mac version looks terrible, Conrad doesn't have a face but gigantic bushy eyebrows.

Don't worry about anniversary version, it's the same as Switch: Amiga/DOS-like with rewind feature, 3 difficulty settings and optional filters.

Ahh, my mistake.

There are a number of classic games that looked much better on Mac than on PC. Flashback, Another World, Prince of Persia, Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, Blackthorne, Lemmings and even Doom are a few that come to mind. Of course never having owned a Mac, I missed out on those versions (but Mac-only users also missed out on most computer games).

Atrocious?
Yes, the gameplay of the 2013 3D remake was incredibly bad. Movement of the character and the whole style of the game. It was quite a bad game compared to the original Flashback. So I would say atrocious is a fitting word for it since the remake was of poor quality. Especially the port from consoles to PC.

It is no surprise that the remake flopped and Cuisset's company went bankcrupt.

These days the remake is not even playable because it's tied to Ubisoft's Uplay.

not sure. It seems unlocked on mine at the moment, but it also says "not compatible"?

I'll check back later on.
