Hey, hope everyone's going alright.

While some of us probably can't wait for Thronebreaker release, today's release is not mainly about that.

Other than few fixes and improvements, this update brings plenty of bugfixes to the Overlay on Windows.
Thanks to that, we'll be able to enable it in even more games than now (ones from changelog after release and more to come later).

FulVal: Crysis 1 is not a dx11 game...
Hey, you're right. It should have been dx 10. Still overlay will be enabled soonish.

You can contact our support at https://support.gog.com, you can also play the game without using Galaxy, just download offline installers for it from https://www.gog.com/account ("Download offline backup game installers")

Johny.: o_O how did you know

The truth is we're not slowing down with Galaxy Client development.

BKGaming: Hey 2018 is... coming to a close soon. Are we really going to end it without a significant Galaxy update? Time will tell.
Time will tell. :P

We're still working hard. :)

AlphaZen: Hi, I have an issue with galaxy when trying to chat with a friend while playing gwent.
When I Shift+Tab to show the overlay, it takes several seconds to load my friends list (which contains one person...). When loaded, this person is shown as beeing offline despite playing gwent with me. After another couple of seconds, he is shown online, but when I click on the name, the to-be-chat-window pops up, again loads for several seconds and shows me the attached error message.

And yes, I am online. :D Watching a youtube stream at the same time.

I haven't found any information about that behaviour, sorry, if this is the wrong place. :/
It's not a wrong place. You can monitor and report your logs to this issue (there are instructions when submitting report). I think I have filed it with a different name also.
http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=5408

I've heard it happened for 3 or max 4 users in the span of last 2 years (but consistently for them). Very rare.
Hey,

we have released a new update to GOG Galaxy, available only if you have enabled Beta Galaxy updates.

We would like to have it on beta channel for two reasons.
1. We have updated the code signing certificate and are unsure about the reaction of antiviruses. They might treat this update with special care, as certificate changed.
2. We would like to verify the changes improving the security of GOG Galaxy application before it gets passed to everyone

Noodle-24: Some of my Games don't sync with the GOG Client. There are a few times when I've clocked hours on a game, yet it still indicates as 0 hours played. That's one of the things I have a problem with. Is there something I need to do?
I see some people mentioning having to re-enter passwords and stuff. I don't really have that issue. My details are saved as usual. I can log in without problems. I guess, the only other issue I have sometimes, is when I am trying to download / install a game and I get the message "Server Issue" or something like that.
I don't really have an issue with GOG in general. I like it. I was brought onto it by my brother. Really great client and I don't think it's fair to compare GOG with Steam (Yes, I also have a Steam Account) because they both have their traits and faults. I dunno, that's just my opinion I guess (and my brother). Thank you GOG for all the hard work you put into your Client.
Thank you for kind words. :) did you contact support? They might know some Common reasons for game time tracking to now work. Are you starting your games through Galaxy? In Galaxy settings, you have game time tracking enabled in toggles?
If support doesn't help, file an issue with logs to Mantis.gog.com so we can check if it's a bug on our side.

Cerfer: Is there any way to rollback to an earlier version of Galaxy? The browsing is close to unusable now, and I have to say, if I wanted to watch a YouTube video for every game, I would open up YouTube. Screenshots were fine for a preview, but now I have to wait 5-20 seconds to see anything from the game.

I used to just browse through games. Now it's kind of annoying and I don't really get the information I want/need for a lot of the games because the linked YouTube videos are publisher advertisements, which tend to be long on exposition and hype and short on gameplay. Ads disguised as YouTube videos are fine, but curated screenshots/content would be much better.
"From the game" - you mean through Overlay, or GOG Galaxy app?
Which games have this issue? All of them? Do YouTube videos in Galaxy works fine, but screenshots not? And do they load slowly, or not at all?
Do you have slow internet connection? Did you maybe limit it in GOG Galaxy bandwidth settings?

Ok, thanks for your feedback. :)

Johny.: Ok, thanks for your feedback. :)

Cerfer: I appreciate your note.

If things are going to remain as they are (and that's fine, really), is there any way to bring the Buy The Series/Complete The Series back up to the top and have it be an option in addition to buying the game? There used to be a Buy Game for "X" and just below it, a Buy the Series box. Like everything, I'll get used to scrolling down for it, but it was nice having it all right there. I don't care for the YouTube vids b/c they're not really efficient, but I can always click on the game and go its main page.
I guess you're referring to website store page of the game. It's not my area, but I'll pass your feedback to the designers.
I hope in upcoming future you'll find GOG Galaxy more useful, not only with games marketing content.
It's weird you say you can always click on game and go to its main page - which page do you refer to? We have the same videos in Galaxy's game view, and on GOG store page.

Cerfer: When I'm browsing games during a sale, it's only the YouTube video, and it's pretty much the YouTube logo and then opening credits to the game are all that I see when I'd rather have info about a game, but not lose my place in the browsing queue (i.e., having to start all over again from the beginning). The game page has everything there.

I'm an old guy (I was around when these games were first released) so chances are the UI changes aren't directed to me. I could go ahead and use the web page and open several tabs at once. Galaxy is just one window at a time.
Now I get what you mean. :) you can hold ctrl (on Windows) and click the game tile, it will open in the browser then, and you'll stay where you were in Galaxy. Or use middle mouse button to do it.
Thanks for the reports on the slow startup. The next update should significantly improve that :)
Hey,

we have released GOG Galaxy 1.2.50.
This update will fix the slowdown of Galaxy startup introduced in last version,
as well as continues with strengthening security of the application.
Hey,

we have released a new update for GOG Galaxy, 1.2.51.

It contains a small fix for Galaxy SDK related to notifications when playing a game.

powergod: the thumbnails of "Duke Nukem - Manhattan Project", "Balls of Steel" and "Duke Nukem 3D" always disappears from my list of installed games...
We're aware of the issue, and it will be definitely resolved in future versions of GOG Galaxy. I cannot tell any release date yet, unfortunately.

ender_vlc: Hi,

I'm apparently one of those idiots that run their Windows with a user without admin rights. Every time there's an update I get between 5-7 password requests to run a script.

Can this be done with just one time?

When I installed Pillars of Eternity 2 I got password requests for all the distributables, and then like 10 requests for scripts from GOG. Pillars2 updates today and I got 5 requests. I added a free DLC and I got 7 password requests.

My installation is not in Program Files, so why is this happening?

Thanks.
It should be maximum one admin password request when you update GOG Galaxy (which we want to get rid of completely), but I'm not aware of multiple password requests when updating a game, or adding DLC.

File a mantis.gog.com report with your logs - pretty please. :) Your logs are important here. Thank you for very precise description - you can just copy your post to mantis, add logs and title "multiple admin password requests when updating game". :)

Hijin25.948: Why captcha is needed to redeem a key from GOG galaxy.?
It's a way of protecting your redeem key to be bruteforced by someone else and sold on some phishy page.

Bloodygoodgames: An utter piece of garbage since the last update.

I've just spent over an hour having to turn my computer back to a prior restore point after GOG Galaxy froze mid update and screwed up my entire computer.

Then I just tried to reinstall it after having to delete it, and it's frozen again. Utter utter garbage.

So now I get to download the GOG Downloader to install games I just bought because Galaxy is completely unusable.

Honestly, feeling less and less like buying games on GOG these days -- the site is slower than Christmas since the new site design (takes FOREVER to load the front page) and now Galaxy is a piece of junk.

Sad to see GOG going downhill, but it's seemed to be nothing but for the last year or two.
How come GOG Galaxy froze your system update? Seems unlikely to me. Or was it game update?
We're aware of website loading issues, especially on winter promo, and how they affect Galaxy. It might cause freezes on startup, or when reloading store, but they shouldn't be too long. Total freeze we're not aware of. If you care to put logs of those freezes on mantis.gog.com , I'd be grateful.

FulVal: SiN Gold has the same problem
It doesn't depend on a game, it can happen to any of sidebar images. :(
