mortal_vombat: that actually makes my life a little easier, i'll just buy Tyranny then. wasn't impressed with the trailers for Dishonored anyway, those powers just ruin the game for me. i don't like "stealth" games where i can become an invisible smoke monster
You can actually ignore them completely - well, you could in the first game anyway. Not only was it entirely playable without them, it was quite fascinating to see how well the levels were designed to support quite literally any playstyle you could have picked. Can't vouch for the second game to be like that naturally, but missing first Dishonored for this would be a bit of a shame, especially since it doesn't actually contain any form of intrusive DRM (unless you just want to avoid Steam, in which case I understand skipping it completely)

adamhm: If they can use nasty DRM and people will still buy their games, why would they stop?

Just don't buy the game at all unless it gets a DRM-free release - the more people that refuse to put up with this crap the better the chances are of getting companies to stop using it (and the better the chances are of getting GOG releases).
You do have a valid point there.

We are on the same side of the river and I otherwise always scratch the games which incorporate 3rd party DRM. In the case of PES 2017, I am also more inclined towards just moving on at this point.
Interesting Reddit thread of someone sneaking info' from someone involved over at Denuvo plague central.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CrackStatus/comments/4mtb46/conversation_with_a_denuvo_employee/

"Our mission is Anti-Piracy for PC focusing on games being published on the various game platforms like Steam, Origin, Uplay,...
Although there is news that we might prevent piracy completely going forward, we have a more realistic view: our focus is to help publishers to secure the initial sales windows of their games hence delaying piracy."

So, it clearly doesn't work, as it doesn't stop piracy, only slows it happening.

"Games released with the Steam, etc. DRM / license management are always cracked on day of release".

If that's the case, why won't move devs/publishers sell on GOG or similar sites. They've nothing to lose & money to gain.

Cost:
"Lump sum model:
AAA title (bigger 500k units on PC): 100.000 EUR
AA title (smaller 500k units on PC): 50.000 EUR
Indie title (less than 100k units on PC): 10.000 EUR

Or

Per unit pricing:
2.500 EUR setup fee.
0,15 EUR per unit reported monthly based on Steam,… owners."

Pricey for something that only delays cracked releases for a few days or so, sheesh!

Denuvo staffie even sends them a list of games using Denuvo that were cracked /failol!

For the longest time, goal of DRM has not been stopping piracy altogether, but delaying it beyond the title's launch, which makes circa period of a month or so - that's considered the most important timespan in sales of a title. Why doesn't DRM get patched out when that window ends is beyond me.

Probably the same reason most major AAA games and some not so major games don't come to GOG till after a few years. And maybe the Pubs think it's not really a major issue, or think taking it out entirely so early would be a waste of money.

Hmm, has Denuvo's management said how they feel about services like GOG? Or what they think of Flying Wild Hog's (Shadow Warrior 2 Devs.) statement about DRM being a waste of time?
My guess it that if they removed the DRM afterwards, it's sort of them admitting DRM isn't really worth the HDD space nor money wasted on it. Or perhaps they'd even have to pay to have it removed too. /shrugs

Also imagine Denuvo wouldn't comment on the excellent Flying Wild Hog's for refusing DRM (btw, huge thanks to them & others that don't use it & release amazing games) because they know it won't stop sod all ;)

It's working fine if it's slowing the piracy process. As long as it works through the initial sales period that's already a job well done. They're pretty much all lasting that long currently. Even if they don't, whatever version they cracked will generally be weeks/months old and be behind on patches/updates by the time it comes out or soon after, let alone if DLC comes out for it.

It's doing what it needs to right now.

Looking at the list of Denuvo-using games, it doesn't appear like I've had a brush with it yet. That may change with Planet Coaster though.

fishbaits: Five different PC per day? Why would anyone stick the game on five PCs in one day? o0
Now - nobody. In the old days - people who had LAN parties (do new games even have LAN capabilities, or do they flock to SteamPlay like sheep?)
I'm starting to understand why so many people are defending Denuvo...
They're simply too stupid to understand that it can affect customers....

I just read the comments to an article about the potential problem caused by Denuvo, even though it only describes problems which wouldn't even affect pirated verions but only the legal ones (regular online verifications for example), and people are saying pirats deserve it.

(excluding the few Console Fanboys who say PC-gamers in general deserve it)

Sometimes I wish for a new Starforce on a few popular games just to see if they still don't understand it if their PCs get "infected"...

There are a few with LAN, but I think it's few & far between these days.

It reminds me of the stupid thing in Crysis (2 I think it was).
I have the discs, I installed. When I sat back to play it, it wouldn't play until I went online to "patch" it.

Worse, Battlefield3. I was going to struggle through the tedium that is single player, so I DL'd it (again). Went offline as didn't need it & Origin (shudder) was already up & running.
But when I clicked play, it demanded me logging in to confirm I was allowed to play the sodding thing, even though it'd just been DL'd directly from Origin.

Gaargh!

Read the comments....Actually don't. For some reason consumers love the DRM.

I was hoping to see Planet Coaster on gog...well, shit. :P

Edit: Should have taken your advice of not reading the comments. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with some of these people?

Ive enjoyed owning games pirates can not play because they never pay which devalues my purchase.

Suddenly all those pirates cancel their pre-orders and come up with claims how Denuvo degrades performance
I just died a little.

Either the game is badly optimised, or, if rumours are to be believed, Denuvo may be causing it.
Quite a few reporting bad frame rates, even on really high end pcs.

Saw a stream & it definitely looked low fps at times.
