yggr: It would not, in my book. As long as he published under his own name, why shouldn't he?
Lots of great works of art are based on others.when they are well done, they contribute something, even if I don't agree.
Taro94: As I said, if son of Tolkien introduced LGBT to Middle-Earth in some new book or story, it would STILL be a problem even if the original works of JRR Tolkien were untouched.
yggr: No, it wouldn't. As long as he published under his own name.
Precisely. I might have understood the argument if there was needless screwing with something the original author had worked on but left unfinished like, say, the Silmarillion (to run with the Tolkein example). Something like the Last Ringbearer, which Prof. Tolkein had no hand in, on the other hand, doesn't retroactively take everyone's copies of LotR and draw dicks on every page or whatever.
On a side note, I'm not sure whether to be insulted by the insinuation that my existence is inherently political, or whether I should take it as some sort of bizarre compliment.
