Zoidberg: The layout are mostly different countries by countries, like several belgian ones and french ones.

Thing is, the letters are usually at the same spots so when devs decide to hardcode wasd keys to movement, that's when the issue arise.

Yes, yes, like I said above, there are a lot of different layouts, some of them use the qwerty one for that zone of their layouts. I'm really not sure I said that azerty represented 100% of the europe keyboard layouts (which wouldn't make sense anyway).

Azerty is used in France and French-speaking Belgium at the very least, that's like 65 million people FYI.

Kristian: Interesting, I did not know that. I was responding to faroot BTW. I only really saw his response to you. So I did not intend to put words in your mouth or anything. I just see a lot of a lot of generalizations about "Europe" online. Often people conflate "Europe" and the EU. That tends to annoy me a bit, coming from a European country that is not part of the EU.
It looks pretty lonely there! :D
Good for Cognition GOTY and Runaways.

Edit: Seems that the bug that didn´t recognize games in library on sales is fixed, at least in galaxy.

I`m thinking bout buying Bioshock 1 or 2, but the remastered versions will certainly not run on my crappy laptop. I read that the original versions are included, how well do they run on modern OSes, like Win 8.1? My Intel HD 3000 chip should be able to run them, but I don`t know how well the originals are tuned for modern OSes.

They also added a Mafia III: Season Pass today at a 50% off discount. A decent deal for all the DLCs.

faroot: That's interesting; as a qwerty person I was not aware of that problem...and it makes me curious what Europe does about this; there must be some alternate set of standards, even if country and language specific?

Yes, but no, I know that keyboard layouts aren't universally qwerty, what I meant was, is there a de facto standard *like* WASD per keyboard type that is popular in the regions that use those keyboards (like azerty), or what?

And by mentioning Europe I was just trying to exclude things like keyboards that don't even have latin-alphabet-derived symbols on them, where WASD would be a distant fever dream, not making some claim about who is in the EU and who is not. :( :( :( :( :(

Not sure I'm getting it but WASD isn't a standard, there are a lot of those: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QWERTY

As for layouts in general the standards are multiples. Sometimes by regions, sometimes by country, etc...

I'm not sure where the confusion lies, but yes, WASD *is* a de-facto standard (a standard due to widespread use rather than by order from a standards organization) for controlling movement via qwerty keyboards, initially in first person shooters like Quake by pro gamer Dennis Fong and eventually in 3D games in general.

As a programmer who has done lots of internationalization work on software to support different keyboard layouts, different character sets (pre-Unicode national character sets), language support, etc., I'm not asking about keyboard layouts like azerty and would really prefer to not continue in that wrong vein.

I was specifically asking about substitutes for WASD -- that's not a typo, substitutes for WASD. Not substitutes for qwerty.

In desperation I turn to wikipedia, which mentions that ZQSD (the same physical keys as WASD with differerent keycaps and different keycodes transmitted) is the alternate de facto standard on azerty keyboards, which is a good enough answer for me to consider this mess of confusion ended.

One thing I'd love... some of these movies to get discounted. I've got like 5 on my wishlist.

But yeah, this sale is great so far. I've especially enjoyed the collections.

Oh, and me thinking the Flash Deals would go on until closer to the end.
Thank you for letting us know, RWarehall. I expect the sale to become more boring after that point.
I didn't find this anywhere on the first page of threads. Clearly, RWarehall hasn't posted his list for the day. ;)

I'll just sit here quietly and wait for that.
