the TFix full and TFix lite executables are identical, so their capability to display the game in a certain resolution is also the same. TFix full tries to check for your desktop resolution during install and sets the game to that if it succeeds, that's the only difference. so with TFix lite, you need to open the video settings from the main menu and set whatever resolution you like there - most, if not all standard resolutions should be exposed.

are you using something unusual perhaps? if so, both cam.cfg and cam_ext.cfg will have to be edited to add the extra resolution.

ok then, I'm new to thief is as smooth a process like with system shock 2

I'm trying to fire up Dromed and it launches at default (I think 640x480). Every source I find says to simply add a line to user.cfg which does not work. I've tried 5 different resolutions (all known working common ones like 800x600,1024x768, etc with no success). I've also tried editing dromed.cfg and changing resolution in game.

One thing I notice that doesn't match the instruction is this line (step 5): " Open the NewDark package, then editor.zip, and extract DromEd.exe and darkdlgs.dll to your root Thief directory. Overwrite any files when prompted."

The link to "NewDark package" is just to Tfix (which was already step 2) which also does not have an Editor.zip. Its the full .exe installer, which I went ahead and installed, but still no zip. I followed all the other instructions including copying files from Dromed Basic Toolkit and Tools\Thief 1 Gold Newdark, etc.

I tried ALL setup steps with the default GOG 1.26 and then patching to tfix 1.27 and both worked the same.

I would appreciate any help.

voodoo47: follow the instructions in the TFix topic and it should work.
Thanks, I did that 3 times already with no luck, which is why I asked here. I made small progress by trying a clean install with the GOG version, where I was previously using steam and I can now change the resolution to 1024x768, but all other resolutions cause it to revert back to 640x480. I'm sure its on my end, but I followed the directions line by line.
I have checked and the link does go to the ND package which does have the files. double checked everything, still works. not sure how to help you.

Thanks for checking. I didn't expect an issue with the files itself, but hoping someone else ran into the same issue.

Edit:

Figured out my issue. That newdark link looks like its just redirecting to Tfix with the top 2 links being for tfix1 and tfix2 patches. Further down the page is T2 - Newdark, which I thought was just for T2 Thief installs.

Thanks for responding and for all your continued work!
