IAmSinistar: Cripes! That is an inexcusable increase in the European price. I guess the increase is to subsidise more savings for their ex-Soviet neighbours.

If any of my eurozone friends here want it at the American price, let me know. But I'm not buying it for myself now. Screw that publisher.
An additional drop of not even $3 for the ex-Soviet countries, hardly justifies an Increase of over $13 of the Eurozone price.

And as I said in the Pre-order thread, publisher and developer are the same entity.
Keep in mind that's the *Deluxe* edition right there i.e. you're paying for the extras. The regular version is supposed to be 40$ I think?

Its just greed pure and simple as I don't know what other factor would justify the price hike. It is really irksome when developers end up exploiting consumers in European territories with regional pricing even with the games that are self published.

Was being facetious about the increase offsetting savings elsewhere. It's pure greed under the excuse of "everyone does it now, so it's normal business practice".

And the publisher is to blame. In this case them being one and the same as the developers just makes it uglier, as there is no "good guy" in the narrative. In some other cases of regional pricing the developers aren't behind it, but are pushed into it by the publishers.

What makes you think that the Standard Edition won't be regionally priced in the same greedy way?

I know you were, I'm just extremely frustrated right now.

And that's exactly why I pointed out that they're the same entity in this case - apparently B. Fargo has no issues with the business-side of publishers practices. I'm starting to feel ashamed that I backed this now, and am glad I didn't back Torment: Tides of Numenera as they run that Kickstarter campaign, as did Obsidian, Pillars of Eternity, too much like a pre-order exclusive process.

Pretty sure the releases of those will be equally ugly in terms of regional rip off.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least. AAA games on crowdfunding are just as avaricious as the ones from more standard supply channels.

I'm glad there are plenty of old games and new indies so that I don't need these purported blockbusters.

Well, crowdfunding appealed to me on an idealistic level. Thankfully, I sobered up rather quickly, but not quickly enough to avoid all this inner conflict now.

I guess it's a lesson I had to learn.

Wasn't saying it won't. Just pointing out that if it looks extremely expensive it's also because this IS the extremely expensive version. :P I reckon that in Europe the standard edition will be 48$ or so.
As to ripping people off, well, YMMV of course. Now, I'm not strong with math, but isn't the price increase around 22%? That's pretty much in line with VAT in my country. Can't say I'm happy about that, but it's not like they're trying to pull a 1$ = 1€ conversion here. And besides, that's is partially compensated by store credit.

But to be completely honest, the real reason I'm not bothered by all this is because there's no way in hell I'm going to pay full price anyway. Firstly because I can't afford it, but even if that wasn't an issue, I know that one year from now or maybe even sooner it'll be on sale for 1/4 of the current price (not to mention that the base price will probably drop too, sooner or later). I have literally 0 incentive to buy anything on day one (or ever worse, preorder) nowadays.
Hey, are you folks alright with me requesting a thread lock on this? It's getting a bit scattered having half the conversation here, and the other half in the master thread. I'd rather just keep updating one place.
