I don't know why it created such a shitstorm, I thought it was rather hilarious in an awkward kinda way (ok, very awkward but I was giggling throughout and Lars doesn't strike me as a dangerous person, at all).

Yes. It's a bit sad - like he forgot he was talking to vultures at a press conference, and not amongst friends or intellctuals who would allow him to develop hours of "what do you mean by that". I love how the people around him tried to snap him out of it, and remind him that he wasn't at some sort of literary/philosophy talk show but performing for a movie's promotion in front of tl;dr-ers...

But his slow "ok where am i going there" realisation is priceless.

I've had to deal with a lot of crap from people for having mental illness. My closest friends have always stood by me, but I'm generally looked down upon by society for not being able to get a job, not being able to afford my medication, not being able to "snap out of it" or "just stop" or "decide to be happy."
I feel like I get intentionally left out of social events because people are afraid that I'll be a bummer, or that I'm too unstable. I'm not sure if it's true, I might just be overly-paranoid. (Not that it matters these days, I don't go out anymore.)

I always see people saying that the mentally ill should be locked up, or kept out of society because they are too dangerous. I think these attitudes have been getting worse, especially with the increase in mass shootings in America.


Then the whole Mormon thing... A lot of people don't like Mormons.
And the whole atheism thing... Being an atheist in Utah is kind of a bad idea.
I generally just keep my mouth shut about those ones.

Kinda... I grew up Mormon. I'm still an official member. So pretty much everybody knows me as a Mormon.
But for a few years, I've been a closeted atheist. Afraid to tell any of my Mormon friends or family.

Ok. For a moment I was wondering if mormonism was a "belief" (in the same sense as jehova witnesses) or a "cultural identity" (like judaism, christianity, islam)... Like you would find muslim atheists, christian atheists, jewish atheists, but no atheist jehova witnesses...

Okay, of course they are not strict and mutually exclusive categories, in practice...

Not to drift off topic but let's not also forget the privilege of those wearing tax-funded badges and carrying tax-funded weaponry. They may not be wealthy but they get away with a lot more than private citizens and when they do get punished, it's often a slap on the wrist and various incidents get written-off as "accidents" despite the stories revealed by surveillance footage and forensics.

I do, with all my guts, but I don't like to mention it on internet forums, because i feel JUDGED FOR MY OPINIONS. :-(
