Unfortunately, the fan isn't that easily accessible, and requires the whole case of the laptop to be opened. Adding to this the fact that one of the screws can no longer be unscrewed due to the use of a wrong screwdriver, and that it should be still covered by the "No Matter What" guarantee, I preferred to take it for service.
nijuu: Tried opening it up and having a peek whether the fan is accessible to see if its connections loose? (thats if its not under warranty...)
It is quite possible that a connector was moved, since the last thing I did was blow at the fans with compressed air, though neither at full pressure, nor for longer than 5 seconds at a time.
Oh well, the autopsy will tell us what went wrong.
