I really, really hate Finland.
You know I had a friend who spent a year on school exchange there. He really did say everyone drinks Vodka, all the time, because the weather is so severe. You actually have a pretty nice country, but I've looked at the average summer highs and I'm not sure I could do it, either. Maybe you have one coastal city with awesome weather somewhere that I don't know about?
I live in Turku, which is pretty far south and houses a harbour, so logically is located close to the sea. Springtime - please be here soon - is nice, summers are great and autumns aren't too bad most of the time. I hardly ever complain about rain or heat because snow sucks so much more. I would gladly trade three-four months of snow for three-four months of constant rain, for instance. But yeah, if you absolutely must come to Finland, do it in the summer when the sun shines, the people are at their happiest, you don't have to spend half an hour dressing up just to take out the garbage, you can go to have a beer at midday and come home after midnight, when it's still light ouside, having spent the day drooling after girls. Sometimes it even manages to convince me that I can put up with winter in exchange for all that.
This is one of those "I really, really hate Finland" days. As almost always, it's the weather.
Going out with a bicycle in this weather... Grazy Finns!
And if I was going somewhere today, I would have used my car. Sure it is harder to drive now, but it just makes driving more interesting.
It was either the bike or walking, and since the shop is reasonably far away, I chose the bike. No need for a car in the city, not that I wouldn't like to have one. Preferably a TVR or something instead of the Opels and Toyotas and other dreary nonsense everyone else drives.
It's +2C now. I think the term that describes my current mental state rhymes with "clucking bell". Let's hope it shifts ten degrees up or down ASAP.
