Had a dog of a day in Pathfinder Kingmaker yesterday, met a skillfully craft gold golem and half my party found out they had canine ancestry. Funnily enough Linzi can still identify magic stuff despite being a dog, probably by smell.

One of the best FPSs ever made, and not only because of that mural ;)

OT, there's a newgrf (mod essentially) that allows you to place signals on bridges in openttd, but seeing as I haven't installed it yet, a 6 tile bridge crossing meant a 6 tile separation between the signals on either side. This proved to be a problem since every now and again two trains travel along this line close enough for the rear train to brake for the red signal at the bridge, causing a traffic jam. So I had to split the tracks like shown. Unfortunately it doesn't look very good so I will have to try something else or just finally installed the newgrf.

Thanks! I would have had to link that one anyway though because I couldn't shrink it further without loosing the impact of mostly black cat blocking off my entire computer through lap sitting..

Real time training in total war Warhammer 3 is working quite advantageous. I feel smarter and more secure in reality, creating opportunities as I go, forwards most of the time, though i won't shy from tackling smart situations from the side.....
<< clears throat, or even back behind. (frooom behind)

With that out of the way. I'm still not really certain how to approach the bigger battles. For now i've decided upon using a.i. commanders to command a 2d army if we go the full monty, 40 vs 40 units, and to be totally honest, I can't even imagine how the current use of armies in the warhammer trilogy came into being. Sure, the battles fit in a timescale as small as any small break. Snack, Smoke, Toilet, Etc. which of course serves a need in this ever hectic life most of us are leading but, really it should be more than watching 2 blobs collide while you nervously scout the unit cards visible aiming to choose leaders or other units with special skills to try and activate those in appropriate timings. Historical war view points learns about how ancient war was indeed not any more than sending blobs of men to march into one very big blob, and well they've certainly managed to capture that aspect of war very well. Personally i feel a more automated approach with commanders assigned certain points or targets and some room reserved for a lot of autonomy would do the game more just and maybe who knows, technology might be at blame here for not progressing fast enough. Still, the game feels like cheap and i'm annoyed for falling so easily to it!

Anyways... ThZe pictures

Pic. 1. From a safe distance, i'm awaiting the arrival of the ai commander. blue arrows indicate to what points he commands his units, I'm thinking, I would go mad controlling such a large force on 2 fronts. There are a couple of tricks such as location shortcuts and double click to select all similar units but, that needs some thoughts on forehand. Ensuring similar units don't end up in both formations for one. I do feel a bit silly for looking down upon armies shared by others on TW fora with a lot of similar units... they where realtiming of course! Where specialists armies are only comprehensebla to the insane and the non time limiteds.

Pic. 2. That stupid hold the enemy was hiding behind severely limited my moving grounds, and his options too now it seems, silly stretched line

pic. 3 Enough of the wait i Banzaied my forces into the enemy, which actually went pretty well. This Slaaneshi commanded army splits up in a nice Nurgle only department (which is very slow outside the frogs) A main segment which is made up out of different but strong melee components and a fast all Slaanesh flank unit that is really terrifying.

I'm not sure what happened with everything moving so fast, but we won in the end!

Oooh so nice :D :D :D

Actual screen shot from The Caligula Effect: Overdose this time as I had no kitty running interference.

So what's going on here is that I'm in a dungeon level called the City Library. The Lost Soul is an enemy, but I'm too busy talking to Yui Chiba (an NPC) at the moment. To make things more interesting is that if an NPC is at 50% or higher, they'll turn into an enemy too.

Additionally this screen shot is shown while hanging out with the protagonist group. You can alternate back and forth between the protagonist and antagonist groups in this game, each of which is convinced that they're the heroes while the other is bad.

However this game really is for people that like spreadsheets if you're going to do all the side quests. There's 525 NPCs, each of which has a side-quest. If I take more screen shots, I'll have to include a screen shot one.
Swords & Guns ...aka Elex

It's been so long since I last played it, I decided to do a complete do-over. It's going pretty well. I think I may not be that far away from the end. Toured pretty much all of Magalan and I finished the Berserker route. I couldn't in good conscience go with Clerics since their brainwashing Suggestors are something quite sinister, not to mention that unbeknownst to most of their flock they seem to be worshipping a dead megacorp that wasn't quite on the up-and-up from the audio logs and text snippets I found about them. The Outlaws are just batshit, so, yeah, Berserker route made the most sense. Soon we'll be bringing the fight to the Albs. Get those whities! ;)

Been playing just with a gamepad this time around, and I find it to be actually much more fun that way. *shrug*

Fantasy Action Hero ...aka Dragon's Dogma

Just like Elex this is is the third time I've started this game, and I'm expecting to stick with it. Definitely working a bit on that ole backlog (without getting distracted by something new and shiny). So I'm off with Zelda and the girls bringing a beatdown to the monsters of the world. Road trip! :)

real time training pt.2

REAL TIM'N

this time decided not to shy away from a battle with reinforcements, on opposite sides of the battlefield.
this was a crazy battlefield with that stupid toad tak'in almost every dino in his kingdom with him. the predicters said 'no'
my skellies said 'rkrkrkrkrrkrkrkrkr'

bloodrushed we followed his fleeing army only to attack again when he was almost near his capital. Supporters came from the capital to their rescue, fresh and motivated troops but a secret deal with the Ogres ensured we had some fresh things coming from our side too. another victory! Soon we laid siege to the capital but here a terrible thing happenend.

my hands, derived from a decent bloodflow for quite some time coupled with the drums of war hazing through my head, nostrils filled with the dried remains of saurus blood accidently pressed autoresolve... with yet again a valiant defeat predicted.

ah well, 2night we gonna do it all over again

krkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkrkrrrr

Played and finished Ashes, a tiny little game about a murderous asshole locked in a dungeon. Or something like this.

They said it was an easy game, but I think even the definition of "game" is misleading for this short, almost relaxing interactive experience. Anyway: after the ordeal of Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection, I needed something like this to heal my gamer's brain injures...

I'm still enjoying myself in No Man's Sky. :) Managed to find a small charming moon to build my second base. I even adopted a ferocious feline beast and a cuddly alien puppy. So many sights to see and space pirates to kill! I find the in-game camera quite addictive. :P

Monster Hunter =P ...aka Dragon's Dogma continued

Just changed my vocation to magic archer, which kicks some serious ass, although bigger beasties tend to be more work since climbing and whacking things is not nearly as effective as my previous strider role - not pictured. Love those magic arrows though. Also changed my main pawn from warrior to mage, since it'll be a much better progressing support role than the other interchangeable pawns which tend to come with random skills.

While the pawn AI is actually quite competent for the most part, one of them decided to take a leap down an endless chasm while I was merely running around collecting stuff. Smart.

Nope, I had it installed on 3 different PCs since I bought it, and none of them had any issues to speak of.

The Trouble With Kings ...aka Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Seems like I'm on a string of playing games (and sticking with them) for the second or third try. I suppose I really didn't give KCD a fair shake the first time I played it. Yes, the beginning can be quite slow and plodding, but I somehow enjoy the game's overall slower pace this time around. It's also a much more pleasant experience playing with a gamepad. I found combat extremely awkward and fiddly with mouse and keyboard, but it's a much more enjoyable experience with a controller in hand; it still far from award-worthy though. *shrug*

KCD may have some jankiness to it and some odd technical and graphical glitches at times, but Warhorse certainly did a great job creating a fairly authentic medieval atmosphere - love the codex entries with the actual historical factoids. As far as open worlds go, this one may be one of the smallest yet, but I actually like its narrower focus and in context with how little most people actually traveled back then it kind of makes sense. I also like I'm not out to save the world, merely trying to avoid everything from going to shit with a bit of revenge on the side.

KCD may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's quite fun to me. :)
