Which side are you on, boy?

Black Moon Chronicles, an epic fantasy RTS about choosing the right ally and going to war, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Wismerhill is not a hero, yet when he comes into possession of a small kingdom, he knows he must become one and fast. War is brewing and the half-elf must choose who to side with, in order to ensure that the kingdom of Garundel does not get swallowed whole by the tidal waves of history.
Wismerhill can fight alongside one of four factions, each with its own personality, units, and unique advantages. Throughout his adventure he will hire new soldiers, research new unit types, spells, and abilities, fortify his castle, and pit his regiments against those of his enemies. Preparation for battle is key, but the tactical decisions you make during the real-time combat may prove to be of equal -if not greater- importance. Will you manage to maintain, and perhaps even expand the kingdom of Garundel amidst the chaos?

Guide an upstart king towards greatness and rewrite the Black Moon Chronicles, DRM-free on GOG.com.

I'd recommend to buy it on fireflowergames.com instead, for two reasons: a.) It's a charming little shop with nice people that deserves your love and b.) it's half the price compared to the always notoriously overpriced dotemu. ;)

Impaler26: Another RTS... Meh.

I already have more RTS than i can ever play so i'll pass. :D

Accatone: I know this is your usual, generic reply (or a version of it) but it's your loss! :D Besides, just because you have more RTS than you can ever play, it does not mean that Black Moon Chronicles is a game that you can just put into your backlog and forget about it!
I'll just forget about this game without putting it into my backlog. :D

I've got it from there myself, but would like to see it on GOG. And like this game, it's actually based on a bandes dessinees as well.
One of the few games I still have on CD. Nice.
With one more Cryo game on board, does it mean we are getting Dune and the rest of their classics soon? *wink*, *wink*

Vythonaut: 4GB RAM was a sci-fi scenario back in '99. :P
avatar
Cavalary: No kidding. I only got a computer with 32 Mb in autumn of '98. And it had a 3.2 Gb HDD, so not even 4 Gb there.
Still, you got a decent PC for the time being! ;)
Ok, few things:

There is pause option if combat is too fast for you.

Your base is separate map between battles on map screen that allows you to build and unlock new unit types, upgrades, spells of sort, no base building during battles.

Losing heroes is not instant game over but will cost you a lot of gold to revive them, there is few of them as your comrades on top of main protagonist of the game.

Cavalary: 4 Gb RAM requirement for a game from '99 that I find originally required 32 Mb? Oy.

Clearly, some work was done to make it run better on modern systems, but the other listed minimum requirements are very modest compared to the 4 GB memory requirement.

This has to be a typo of some kind. Can't we get some official clarification on this?
Never heard of this and I played more or less every RTS I could get my hands on. It does look very much similar to Tzar. Might get it later today.

Russonc: Looks good but I'm not a huge fan of RTS (My brain is too slow... : ) )
So, what do you play than?

I could get it from steam too, but this is a pretty old game and I'd rather have it on gog where I'm sure it'll work even after more time passes.

Brasas: Holy f#$%...

This is such a pleasant surprise. Especially if it implies more to come.

Not that the game was super good, but it was quite faithful to its theme and I have a huge soft spot for it. :)
exactly, i know the game and it wasnt a super fantastic game but it was one of the age of empire clones, and i like more of the same, thats why i bought the game right away, the good thing is my poor old pc can run it :D

I hope we get more old games like these, and there are hundreds of games like this one out there :D
so basically gog should be able to continue providing good old games for years to come.

Anyway, a game doesnt have to be AAA or a record breaking sales in order to be good imho, 90% of my old and new games are the 'underdogs' among the games, and i like them.

Forget the 10 billion sales, it doesnt mean if a game sells far less isnt good, if we google i bet we can find hundred of old games on the so called 'abadoned games' sites who usually also offer faster download if you pay, i mean they get money on games they dont own or have a license for , but still get away with it.

gr4phic: So, what do you play than?
Mostly turn-based... some RTS w/good pause features... First Person Shooters (usually on easy!).. and lately liking weird/artsy indie adventure games...
avatar
timppu: Oooh, a RTS game I don't even recognize! And I like RTS!
avatar
Pawel1995: Same here :D I know alot of games from 90-99 like the Settler Series, HoMM3 and co. but I NEVER heard or seen anything about this game, interesting...
It was kind of an underdog back then even; only popped on my radar because I read/collected the graphic novel series which run back then. ("Die Chroniken des Schwarzen Mondes" in German).
