I really do try to avoid Steam but...........................

DProject: Can't say I'm an expert (I only own one game on Desura...Hatred), but don't you need a client to download games there? So that it's like Steam.
No, the Desura client is optional (I've never even downloaded it). You can download the games by using your browser. Not all games on Desura are DRM-free though (but most of them are). Some need online activation, a serial key or come in form of a Steam key.
Pretty bummed about it not being here, I am trying to cheer myself up a bit by saying "Hey at least we get the steam workshop." But a DRM free version would be great as well my internet has been wonky lately.

d2t: look everyone, GOG didn't release Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue = another proof for GOG not supporting freedom of speech!

seriously, do you treat all boutiques as oppressors to freedom of speech because you cant buy X there that you've seen at walmart?
The main difference being that Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue doesn't have 3,5k votes on the wishlist.

DProject: Like I mentioned before, very strange move by GOG. Seeing that the game will be sold on multiple sites now, not just Steam, they wouldn't risk becoming "worse guys than the others" if they had decided to sell the game.
And again, I have to refer to the 3500 wishlist votes. Those absolve GOG of any "moral" responsibility. "Oh, you don't like that game we sell? Well, tough shit, our community asked us to. Blame them!"

Fenixp: GOG refuses anything else: "Well that's a shame, I guess they didn't deem it good for their catalogue, can we do something about it?"
GOG refuses Hatred: "SJW warrior politically correct free speech haters!" SJW bullshit. (yes, calling someone SJW works both ways.)
So much that.
I learned yesterday that GOG rejected "Sunrider : Liberation Day", but strangely I didn't make a forum thread claiming that GOG was "taking away my freedom to play Manga Girls Piloting Big Robots because they feared to put a game with nudity, when they already have Larry games here". They probably simply decided it was not up to their quality standard, something I strongly disagree with since the previous Sunrider was a nice tactical wargame, but it's their shop. They get to decide what they sell here. I'll simply get Sunrider : LD elsewhere, and not hold that against them.

And certainly not try to force their hand because of politics.

Not sure why anyone's surprised, GOG have shown time after time that their decisions regarding releases make very little sense. Wouldn't be all that surprised if they did release the game months from now, when just about everyone that wanted it already bought it elsewhere and general interest in it has died down. Because GOG.

Alhazred: Would be nice to read an official statement on why GOG decided against selling the game. Would stop rumors and it's always nice to have a good communication with your customers.
"Good communication with your customers" and "gog" in the same sentence...

Ah... ahah... ahahah... ah... aaaah..., good one. :P

Curious to see the eason/person behind the "can't"...

JudasIscariot: Good, I might actually reinstall Windows for this game :D
Can somebody just put you in charge of deciding which games are allowed on this site and which aren't? ;)

Sorry but I would probably not be all that good at that :)

You wouldn't be replacing someone any better at it. You're way more in touch with these things than the team/members currently in charge of it.
What was the reason it was not allowed here?

Ehhh not really, I am not all that with it, trust me :)

Just Another Wallet: Yeah, I saw that post right after posting mine. I thought GOG didn't sold AO games.
I don't see why GOG would give a rat's ass about the AO rating, AO is an ESRB rating, GOG is a European company and they don't even care much about conforming with European rating systems. Despite what some people may think after the removal of Commandos for German users, GOG doesn't even care much about the German rating system, still selling tons of games which are banned in Germany to German users (including ones which are banned for the same reasons as Commandos). I think the thing is that the AO rating is most commonly given to games with pornographic content and GOG simply refuses to sell that. That they refuse to sell Hatred is probably just about the personal preferences of the GOG staff (excluding Judas, obviously, who clearly has great taste).

Don't underestimate yourself (after all, you "have ways" :P) and overestimate your co-worker's skills. And don't make me write about the web designers/developers ;)

I will say more, you should replace iWi and The FrenchMonk, that way maybe GOG starts to give a damn about their customers.
