omega64: Well, I've had Aero off for ages, but just don't remember the top bar in Galaxy looking like that. >_<
Doesn't fit with the rest of the program. Why would you use the default windows bar.
Galaxy always had a default system titlebar. :)
We are aware of the problem. For people with beta updates now - for all users later - titlebar in Windows 7 with Aero disabled will look slightly different than before.

For transparency:

We did some changes and optimizations in window handling, and external library we're using doesn't support this combination well. We cannot revert this change now, but this issue is definitely on our roadmap to be tackled. :)

BKGaming: It would be nice to get some info on the v1.3.0 beta. Even a simple ballpark estimate for when we may see the release would be nice.

It has gotten way to quite in here and you guys should really communicate more please. Thank you.
I'm afraid you (users in general) will not get any info on next "big" versions ETAs... I'm sorry because I know you're personally eager to know or to participate in the beta. :)

I can assure you we're working hard to strike you all with features. :)

Kavalor: Since the latest Update for Win10 last week . Galaxy is randomly freezing. You can still maximize /minimize the Window but you can't click anything. Only a restart of Galaxy helps.
Is this already known?
Which version are you using? :) Best create a ticket on http://mantis.gog.com with logs attached.
Hey,

we have released GOG Galaxy 1.2.39 for everyone.

This update consists mostly of the changes, which were already available through our Beta updates.

Apart from that we've decided to increase number of download threads to 32, based on our tests, it seems like a good switch, especially for those of you living in areas where we did not yet fully develop our GOG network.

Full changelog, as always you can find either in GOG Galaxy app, or in the sticky post in this thread.

Enjoy!

MarkoH01: Yes, it is. The Galaxy cloud saves are stored under more->backup & goodies so that you will be able to back them up.
avatar
bushwhacker2k: I see "Neverwinter Nights Diamond - Saves backup", and when I click it, it seems to act like it's downloading something with a size of .1 MB. It doesn't seem to do anything past that. How do I use this?
If you open the list of downloads (click on the bar with the down arrow, where the download size and speed are displayed), then you can click the magnifying glass icon (it appears when you hover your mouse over a download) to open the folder.

The cloud saves backup is downloaded to the same location as other backups and goodies (offline installers, soundtracks, etc.), i.e. in the game's folder (under "!Downloads") or the folder set in settings (Downloads -> Other downloads folder).

The size being displayed as 0.1 MB is a known issue.
avatar
BKGaming: (...)
I am not the most competent to respond about the problem above, but I can say there are some optimizations in terms of downloading threads and CDNs used incoming. We have observed similar behavior (stuck finishing download) before.

Does anyone reading here have similar issues like BKGaming?
Hi,

we just released GOG Galaxy ver. 1.2.40, with a new feature: now you can log in to Galaxy using your Facebook account. There’s also a new Add Friends window that shows you a list of friends suggestions based on your GOG friends and Facebook friends that also use Galaxy (if you connected your account of course).

For full changelog see the first post.

Cheers!
avatar
bhrigu: What effect will it have on people who don't log in with Facebook account?
No effect.
avatar
BKGaming: Cool but I kind of wish it was laid out differently. The Facebook connect button should probably be under settings with a dedicated connect account tab (this will allow a place for future account connections) like perhaps twitch or something down the road.
We're considering a settings section for that.

avatar
BKGaming: Also am not crazy about the friend suggestions being at the bottom of the friends list were friend invites end up nor about it being yet another pop up. But I'm not exactly sure what to do about it. Maybe have it as an attached window to the site of the friends list or something that is collapsible?
You can collapse the friends suggestions in Friends window and it will remember your choice. If you click to ignore/accept all of them, the "accordion" will disappear.
avatar
MarkoH01: Aaaaand it still looks ugly as hell and chat ingame still is not working (see attachement). Great prioritys, GOG
It's a totally different group (and competence) of people that were working on fb login, than issues you've mentioned.

Pawel1995: FB login feels really unnecessary and not needed AT ALL at this moment of Galaxy's development.

Also I feel like either someone at GOG is trolling or they missed the hole "Facebook stores even more than you would"-news that popped up 2 days ago. I mean, I don't want to give you tips, GOG, but that's not how you do it :D If you hear about companies doing whatever they want with user's private information, it's not a good idea to patch a "connect" feature with that service 2 days later xD
Yeah, the timing is great - we're trying to be as funny as we can. :P

JK. For the feature, we're making logging/registering account easier for some users that want to use it. Actually here, you're giving GOG data from Facebook, not the other way around. It's also optional - you don't need to give permissions neither to your e-mail (you can type it later), nor to your friends list (you just won't get suggestions). You can use it just to log in, or not use it at all. :)

--

The thing I'm mostly hyped with is friends suggestions from your (2 or more) common friends from GOG itself. :)

--

btw. (my private opinion) I'm not surprised at all that FB is collecting shitloads of data (it's visible in permissions you give and in network traffic on websites) for their algothythms to use the data to make money from advertisement or targeted content. You can block it if you wish and everything still works.

Pawel1995: UI, chat messages not visible, notifications missing
Can you elaborate on that? :)
avatar
skeletonbow: ...
Yes, if you've disabled the "Searching for me" option in your privacy settings you shouln't be included in any friend recommendations. This is a bug, and we're working on fixing it.
Hi,

we just released GOG Galaxy Client 1.2.41, introducing User Profiles - a new feature allowing you to share and socialise among your friends. As always there are also some additional improvements and bugfixes - please see the first post for full changelog.

Enjoy!
avatar
BKGaming: Would have been nice if you guys had taken the opportunity to do bit of a redesign there. For instance, friends on "friends activity" should be clickable and should take you to their profile.
You mean Activity Feed? When you hover over a user's avatar and username, you should see a tooltip with links to their profile, wishlist, and chat

avatar
BKGaming: Achievements should onle show 2 recent achivements with "show all" being replace with a link that takes your to your profile with the all the games listed achievements.
When you click on game title on the activity, you should be redirected to a page with all unlocked achievements in that game by that user
Hey,

we have released a new version of GOG Galaxy 1.2.42 Beta.

The reason behind making a Beta release are big changes in Galaxy's local database structure, this could cause problems such as:
- Games disappearing after GOG Galaxy update
- Incorrect configuration of games (Cloud saves/overlay)
- Problems with installation or updates the game

This change allowed us to simplify databases structure, hopefully reducing number of bugs and easing up development process.

Other than that, very notably change is that GOG Galaxy will nearly immediately stop downloading data after you pause/abort/shutdown GOG Galaxy with download in progress.
