So many jokes I want to make, but I think I need to squelch them for length. :(

The role bidding process seemed clear to me. Several people (I stopped counting at 4) have commented about some unsureness, so this next bit should help at least one townie.
<teacher hat>
The bidding process goes like this:
1) Everyone submits a bid, consisting of a number and the role they want.
2) People are ordered by their number, with uniquest, lowest numbers coming first, and with uniqueness taking precedence over lowest. In the event of a full tie on these two properties, RNG will determine the order of those so tied.
3) Roles are assigned to those who bid for them, starting at the top of the list. If your chosen role has already been assigned by the time your position is reached, then you get to be vanilla.
Ex:
Player A bids 1, doctor
Player B bids 1, doctor
Player C bids 25, doctor
Player D bids 12, vig
Player E bids 15, vig
Player F bids 4, Commuter
Players are ordered:
F (4)
D (12)
E (15)
C (25)
A (1) [Random number generator favors A]
B (1) [Random number generator favors A]
Roles are passed out:
F -> Gets Commuter
D -> Gets Vig
E -> Gets vanilla (Vig already handed out)
C -> Gets Doctor
A -> Gets vanilla (Doctor already handed out)
B -> Gets vanilla (Doctor already handed out)
No one bid for JOAT, so no one received JOAT.
Therefore, 0-8 roles can be in the game. If no one bid for any role, then no roles are handed out. If all 8 roles were bid for, then all 8 roles are in the game. If all 14 of us bid for the same role, then there is one role in the game.

I figure we've got 7-8 roles in the game; we have enough diversity in players to cause most/all roles to be selected. I'm really looking forward to post game, and seeing how the bidding went.
CSPVG, please save the bid list (who bid how much and what role), and post it at the end of the game? Time for an Assumption: Scum are intelligent.
Conclusion: I figure scum got 1-3 roles. They could chat during the bidding phase, so they could coordinate their bids to avoid any overlap. That gives them better odds, as a team, to nail at least one of the roles they bid for. Beyond that, we don't really have enough information to guess how well they did during bidding. Who knows? Maybe they didn't get anything, maybe they got all of their choices.

yogsloth: Doctor – for traditional reasons, but we must also be highly aware that this role could have fallen into scum hands. If Town has the role, it will play the usual key role. If Scum has the role, my first thought is to be highly cautious about a doctor claim – more so than usual. Scum could have sought the role to be used later as a decoy claim.
JMich: Love how you set up the scene in such a way to be able to suggest lynching anyone that claims doctor. Especially love the touch that you have it as the most important role.
Unless of course if you know that scum has the role, which does beg the question of how do you know it.
At the risk of getting lynched myself if Yogs turns out to be scum:
I can't be the only person who took a look at Doctor and thought "Scum will want to keep that out of Town hands". Maybe it is because he and I seem to think alike, but it looks to me like Yogs is pointing out what should be obvious: Don't discount the possibility that scum may have made a successful bid for this power.
