I only have a few minutes before work. I have read over the thread but would like to re-read and comment better tonight.

@Flub - You are mistaken that is bourbon in my glass and no thanks to you offering any to me. =)

@Yogs - Not a fan of Rootbeer at all. Prefer Coca-cola as for butterflies the monarch is wonderful to watch..in both forms.

Will be back tonight or if work lets up wit a more valued reply. (See yogs I am all for real posts too I just wish I had more then 5 minutes right now to contribute)

Lifthrasil: Oh, and one small request to trent and Pilot: please don't use the monikers Books1 and Books2 or variations thereof. It is confusing. Please use either the full name or unambiguous identifiers like adalia and wyrm.
How do you feel about books3? ;)

I've read everything so far, but it seems to me like just a lot of splitting hairs and trivial bickering. Nothing I've seen so far really screams SCUM...although the fact some people are so quick to cry "scum!" has raised my eyebrows. (I'm looking at the two of you, bookwyrm and flubby!)
ARRRGH forum just ate the post I spent half an hour on. Oh well here goes round 2...

I don't want to be out of RVS. I was looking forward to Vote: Bookwyrm267 as he signed up right after me, which is obviously scummy (NOTE: This logic does not apply to adaliabooks)
Also I would say that in the hands of a scum the vengeful is a pretty powerful role, though not so much with a townie.

Yes pretty, pretty, please.

I have not seen this tag before, please direct me to the documentation.
Also +1 to seeing the bidding at the end of the game if possible.

What??? You must be scum...

On the whole doctor thing:
I would say that instead of being extra suspicious about doctor claims, we instead need to change mindsets where roles don't necessarily mean townie and act accordingly. I also don't see how the power of the doctor is affected in this set-up, they has the same wild guessing as usual, at least for the first little while. It would be the most useful if the Doctor just went to the end of the thread, noted down the scum, and then came back here to tell us quick like a bunny.

A couple other obvious things:
Depending on how the roles went out we could be facing a very tough game.
Those with X-Shot power roles should be very miserly.
Flubbucket is scum.

I don't know how to conclude this as I have made no conclusions so... keep watching the skies!

JMich: I said that doctor role was overrated? When? Where?
Or did I misread flub's post as well?
Unless I missed something, neither you nor I called the doctor overrated. However, both of us responded to comments made by another player about the doctor role. Flub said "The mentioning of it [the doctor] by both you [Bookwyrm] and yogsloth is noteworthy." but he somehow neglected to mention that you (JMich) too spoke about the role.

And to clear a possible misunderstanding: I was referring to my vote as weak. Notice the next part of the very same sentence: "and I'm hoping to see something better within another day or two, but for now"

Happily, in my mind, Flub is building more reason to lynch him. He's picking sections of sentences, peeling off any possible context, and claiming it as scum evidence. I suppose he can't be too serious about it though, since he hasn't placed a vote yet.
You are so scummy. This is not even a joke anymore.

I will hound you for rest of this Day Phase and you can take this to the bank.

Vote: Bookwyrm627
Your whole argument is strawman. I never postulated anything about you or JMich claiming anything about the doctor role being overrated. I specifically stated that myself!! Your points?? are becoming scummier and scummier!!

My post #60 is quite clear and I'm not going to allow you to mudsling without calling you on the carpet. You are caught and that is that.

flubbucket: The power of the Doctor is overrated. The mentioning of it by both you and yogsloth is noteworthy.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Picking on certain people while ignoring others, Flub? You call out Yogsloth on it, that's fine, he brought it up. You call me out on the same thing, but skip JMich, to whom I was replying and whom also talked about it?

This is weak, and I'm hoping to see something better within another day or two, but for now: Vote Flubbucket.
There's a difference in talking about the role and making the role out more than it needs to be. You and yog's are pushing the doctor role, JMich is pointing out irregularities with yog's and your observation.

I will stress again, the only people who will benefit right now in discussing roles is scum.

Bookwyrm627: Conclusion: I figure scum got 1-3 roles. They could chat during the bidding phase, so they could coordinate their bids to avoid any overlap. ...
OK, now I am curious. And I am amazed that this seems to have escaped everyone else: How the hell do you know that scum could chat during the bidding phase? Did CSPVG tell so somewhere public that I missed? If so, please point me to the post where he said so. If not, the only way you could KNOW that scum could chat during the bidding phase would be, if you are scum yourself!
And don't say you were speculating. You worded it not as a speculation but as a fact that scum could chat before Day 1. Before the game even started properly.

So, until you can show me where CSPVG said that scum would have a Night 0 (or even pre-game) chat, I have to:

unvote HijacK

vote Bookwyrm627

I'm still mulling over whether Flub and I have a misunderstanding or whether he's trying to smear me. Trent's post indicates that it might be the former, but I have reservations.

Lift's question, however, is easy. It was flat out stated in the Mechanics section of the Mafia wiki. Check the last bullet point.

Ah, OK, thanks. I missed that and since CSPVG said, he would use that setup verbatim, your assumption even makes sense.

Therefore back to my previous suspect:

unvote Bookwyrm

vote HijacK

Reson is still the same: he refused to read a post because it was too long, even though it offered the most content to be analysed at that point. And since then he has only made some useless banter posts.
@CSPVG
Could you clarify if the part of the PM templates that is in parenthesis on the MafiaWiki page apply exclusively to scum?

I assume that they do, as the number of partners is limited to two, and we know that we have three scum, but I'd like a confirmation if possible.

I need to do a reread of what's been posted so far, but here are a couple of my initial observations.

yougsloth's analysis of the roles and what he expects to see scum do feels a bit like he's underestimating scum. Even if they had considered doing any of the things he suggested, would they still do them after his analysis?
If he's town, it's not wise to underestimate scum, even less to (indirectly) point out what they should not do. If he's scum, then what looks like "underestimating" is quite likely pushing an agenda, given that scum know for certain which roles town got.

The fact that yogsloth and Bookwyrm627 think alike, by their own admittance, is going to be a headache, especially if they're on opposite sides. The one on the scum team could use this to hide behind the one that's town, and go unnoticed for quite some time.

Not sure yet what to make of Hijack's reply to yogsloth's analysis. "tl;dr"? That sounds quite belittling, even for him. Unless he's scum, and counts on reactions along the line of "even scum wouldn't be so open and blunt, so perhaps he's not?".

I'm pretty sure he was joking...if not then you're right, but I definitely got the vibe that he was joking.
The Social Media Manager for Murder, Mayhem, Prizes! was numbly staring at her laptop, wishing she had chosen to study something other than a degree in 'Communication Theory'.

She scrolled past inane comment after inane comment. Suddenly, one message in a long list of mindless nonsense jolted her out of a fugue of boredom. Gavin Alterhauser, resident of Tacoma, Washington, had written,"LOL!1!1!!1 wish i could see more eviserasions. Would prefer if by tiger or lion!"

Brilliant, she thought, whilst making a note which read,"More violence involving predatory mammals."

She opened her web browser and went to the Mayhem, Murder, Prizes! stream. She watched the various contestants shout back and forth for awhile. "I don't get this show," she said aloud, and then closed her laptop.

Answers to players' questions:

Yogsloth: I followed the rules as set out in the Wikipedia page that I linked. As I have interpreted them, if a role was not chosen by anyone in the power draw phase, it does not exist in the game.

Bookwyrm627:

1.No, NKs/ vig kills do not reduce the number of real life days that make up 1 in-game day.

2. I was planning to share the power draw bids with everyone after the game in anyway. Rest assured that I shall do so.

HypersomniacLive: I used the role setup given in the Wikipedia page verbatim. That is all I shall say. I hope this does not sound too harsh.

Lifthrasil: Really? In a game that depends on reading and analysing other players posts, you dismiss an extensive post with 'tl;dr' ? That is a very scummy thing to do. Sure, now you will say that it is your playstyle again and that you are just trying to provoke ... but not reading just because some entry is too long and you can't be bothered is still very scummy. How do you want to play the game, if you are adverse to reading longish texts?

Just now my RVS vote on you transformed into a real one. So it stays.
