Also, the expansion is sold in all regions on Gamer's gate, but it won't work with the boxed version.

Sadly I don't. I tracked down a boxed copy of the game, so I never had to worry about regional restrictions of that type when I bought mine.

I had it (both games and the expansion actually) gifted (traded for gog titles because blue coin gifting did not work, at least back then.) to me a while back. I haven't installed River of Time yet but don't see why it wouldn't work.
