Keep an eye out for these localized game versions that just hit our catalog.

Throughout the years, many of the games that are part of GOG.com have seen localized releases and we ventured to collect many of them with the help of our dedicated community and a thorough search through our master archives. Today, 21 games featuring some of these elusive releases enter our wonderful, digitized catalog.

Learning a foreign language is no easy task, although games have been known to expedite the process. And hunting down localized versions comes with its own challenges but we are not ones to give up easily. Besides, we were not alone in this noble quest. Many of the localized versions on this list come from our personal collections, others we acquired through persistent eBay hunting, but a good number of them were submitted by members of our wonderful multilingual community, that humbled us with their generosity. Let’s take a moment to offer these people a resounding high-five and a warm "thank you" for making this Community Language Pack possible with their contributions.

Without further ado, let's take a look at the extensive list of localized versions, debuting today on GOG.com:

Correction: The French version of Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi was submitted by MaxFulvus. Telika supplied the French manual. We apologize for this error.

A huge thanks to all these people and the team at ScummVM.org for their numerous donations — both physical and digital. Good job, you guys. We may speak different languages, live in different parts of the world, or even enjoy different genres. But we are all gamers, and that's a word that sounds awesome in every language, n'est-ce pas?

Note: These language versions will be getting gradually rolled out today, so don't fret if you don't see your language version right away.

Nergal01: That's a nice Easter present. :) The Wing Commander games in particular received really good German dubs which hold a lot of nostalgia for me. :D

Thx, GOG and everyone who contributed.

Here's hoping for German WC IV to arrive as well, at some point. :)
I have offered it to GOG but they declined because afair they awaited new official WC versions as well. I still have it so in case GOG is interested they know how to contact me ;)
nice

sixsixfive: So you can use user contributed languages but you can not provide/enable already included translations? like: https://www.gog.com/forum/nexus_the_jupiter_incident/multilanguage

weird...
avatar
JudasIscariot: Nexus is being worked on, just trust me on that one :)
It's maybe a good time for me to gather some feedback regarding the SimCity 4 French manual ;)

JMich: Nice one. There's still a severe lack of Greek language option, but after hearing the Greek spoken in QfG5, that may not be such a bad thing
Honest question: Was a Greek version ever released for most videogames in the 1st place? I recall Deponia from the top of my head as having Greek subtitles, but not many more games have such an option. And this might also have to do with us Greeks practically having to learn a lot of languages (because tourism and stuff) and because of this happening the distributors in Greece probably thought that making a Greek localized version wasn't worth the trouble or something... I also wonder what other causes caused not only the lack of localizations, but also a great dearth of games written in Greek/made by Greeks that weren't made for edutainment purposes...

P.S And yes thanks to everyone who provided more languages even if we Greeks don't have much use for those...

Thanks. I add several of them to my wishlist.

Where can I report translations to be added?
Very cool! Thanks everyone!

Ethan: Meteor Hunter also has Greek text, according to GOG.
Thanks!

Now I really want to play Gothic again, if only I hadn´t lost my CD...would you kindly do a Gothic sale? :P

Trust me, you don't miss that. The German dub of KQ7 was hilariously bad.

It's rare, and mostly not done. I was interested in translating Worlds of Magic in Greek, though I seemed to be the only one interested in that, and interest just fell of, but they did say that support for Greek letters required modifying the engine, so that is another thing to consider.
I do think there are a few games that provide Greek language support, but not many of those, much to the dismay of a few friends of mine :/
First Gothic in CZ?
Well done, GoG. Thanks. :)
And what about sequel?

mrkgnao: Ethan: Meteor Hunter also has Greek text, according to GOG.
Yes, that too. Thanks for reminding me of the title this game - I did recall there was an Evan something game that also might have Greek text but didn't recall the exact title so I thought I wouldn't mention it. I own the version Humble Bundle provides though, and I haven't played it yet, so I don't know if that version includes the Greek text as well.
Mini Metro also relied on volunteer translations for languages and had a partial Greek translation in Transifex - I tried to add some stuff there, but there was also the consideration that the text shouldn't be longer than the button and overflow or something, so that was tough, but that doesn't explain the lack of Greek translations since I'd bet this happen with every localization...

Yeah, apparently indie games are more accessible for volunteer translations than AA games - I mentioned Mini Metro in my reply to mrkgnao in this same post, and yes it dosn't always work that well for various reasons. I was more wondering about whether there was even anything official and not-volunteer made, as in, aren't most localizations for other languages kind of official and made by the distributors in each country? (at least that's what I thought happened). Even casual mobile games and web games at least have Greek translations, even if those are made by Google Translate...
