Keep an eye out for these localized game versions that just hit our catalog.



Throughout the years, many of the games that are part of GOG.com have seen localized releases and we ventured to collect many of them with the help of our dedicated community and a thorough search through our master archives. Today, 21 games featuring some of these elusive releases enter our wonderful, digitized catalog.

Learning a foreign language is no easy task, although games have been known to expedite the process. And hunting down localized versions comes with its own challenges but we are not ones to give up easily. Besides, we were not alone in this noble quest. Many of the localized versions on this list come from our personal collections, others we acquired through persistent eBay hunting, but a good number of them were submitted by members of our wonderful multilingual community, that humbled us with their generosity. Let’s take a moment to offer these people a resounding high-five and a warm "thank you" for making this Community Language Pack possible with their contributions.

Correction: The French version of Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi was submitted by MaxFulvus. Telika supplied the French manual. We apologize for this error.

A huge thanks to all these people and the team at ScummVM.org for their numerous donations — both physical and digital. Good job, you guys. We may speak different languages, live in different parts of the world, or even enjoy different genres. But we are all gamers, and that's a word that sounds awesome in every language, n'est-ce pas?


Note: These language versions will be getting gradually rolled out today, so don't fret if you don't see your language version right away.

JudasIscariot: As for everyone else:

All of the games in the newspost now have all of their offline installers added for every supported language. With that in mind, this roll out is complete.

In case something is missing, feel free to PM me if you're missing an installer or a language isn't showing up where it should :)

MaxFulvus: Good news, but I'm surprise to not be mentioned in the donors list. I sent you my french version of Nosferatu Wrath of Malachi in April 2015. Then, black-out until now.
You told me that Telika submitted you only the manual, not also the game.
Not a drama, but a clarification is necessary, in my opinion.
Ah my apologies :) It's been a while. Let me see what I can do on my end to get this corrected :)

I am visiting my father in Germany right now, and he loves to Play Point and Click Adventures. We played through the remake of Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers which had a German localization, and I really wanted to immediately jump into Gabriel Knight 2... Unfortunately, it lacked German subtitles and voices, so it was a no-go for him.

More translations are always a good thing :)

MarkoH01: To tell you the truth: GK2 in German does not work really well because one of the charms it had was that it was about an american in Germany including language problems. Having all people dubbed in German destroys this feeling completely. It's really confusing when Gabriel does not seem to understand what another one said even though he spoke the same language.
Good Point, I actually noticed that that Problem came up in the first game to some extent, so I can imagine how bad it would be if most of the game takes place in Germany...

For example, I was tasked with translating a German Poem that I already understood. It took me a while to remember that Gabriel didn't understand it, and probably couldn't act immediately after reading it.

kpz: i found the english GK2 pretty silly if you understand german. 90% of the actors obviously couldn't speak german and sounded mostly horrible when they tried to do so. it's highly unintentionally funny, when there's a guy in bavarian costume, who has a hard time pronouncing any german word... so both version do have their flaws.
You are correct I have already forgotten about this.

I have always my discs of Vampire : The Masquerade - Redemption, with the very good french version. If I extract the localization files, where do I provide them to GoG staff ?

Is there a list somewhere of the games you can release translations but for which you don't have any ? French support is a lot better now than it was a few years ago but I may have some French translations for you...

For example, I have a patch for In Cold Blood that translate eveything (if I recall correctly) including cinematics in French. It's a zip file that overwrites some files from your installation folder.

I've got the same for Alone in the Dark 1-2-3 (not sure for 1) as well as The Nomad Sould. MDK 2 language can be changed by renaming some files.

I might have others but a list of yours would be easier to know where to look.

Got a very stupid question to the whole topic. I always thought that certain languages weren't aviable becouse of legal issues. I never thought that gog maybe don't have the files. I would love to help you with some games from you catalouge were the german versions are missing.

Maybe you can pm me and we can talk about everthing. Would really like to help gog as much as I can.

Edit: I added you JudasIscaroit. Hope we find a way to add some more games in german ;)

Ahh... it's happening - Gothic is in polish! As a classic, here in Poland it would be heretical not to use polish version, which was a big con for buying it here. And thus - it's fixed~

Now, GOG, Judas... Gothic 2 in polish when? ;)

I'm really getting tired of the complete lack of care by GOG.

I have tried contacting GOG (as ScummVM developer) several times about the major sound problems with Lure of the Temptress, due to using ScummVM, rather than DOSBox. Specifically the sound under ScummVM is broken (Adlib) and incomplete (Roland MT-32), which makes the Black Smith in particular difficult to find. But the new languages for Lure of the Temptress are still using ScummVM!

Also while on the subject of translations, why is the Pajama Sam series still lacking all non-English versions, compared to Steam? I expect GOG are losing many sales, due to the continued lack of any non-English versions.
