65 assorted games 70% off, no risk of getting trampled!

The time has come to unveil our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/black_friday_weekend_promo_291113]special Black Friday promo First, let's put things in some perspective, though. There are a few great things about the Black Friday retail festivities, and one really, really bad one, that kind of spoils all the joy for many people. On one hand, you can go out there and grab consumer electronics, games, movies, and other tech-goods with insanely attractive discounts, finally getting those things you wanted, but without the guilt of paying too much for stuff that's not essential to your wellbeing. On the other, you risk getting seriously battered-up in the process, as hundreds, or thousands of other people will be trying to do just the same and they won't take competition kindly. Each year people get injured in their pursuit of great deals. Badly injured! Killed even! Even if the media blow the thing way out of proportion, the risk still exists.

Why take any risks? You're entitled to great Black Friday deals without exposing yourself to raging crowds. Take the digital route, this year! We've prepared a huge selection of titles for you, and applied a huge discount to all of them. Games that usually cost $9.99 are now available for only $2.99. Titles with $5.99 regular price tag are up for grabs for only $1.79. That's 70% off discount on a selection of 65 fantastic games. You can greatly expand your DRM-free collection and emerge victorious from this whole Black Friday ordeal, without staring into Death's cold eyes even once. You don't even need to rush in--we give you plenty of time to plan your purchase, so you don't end up with something you bought because it was dirt cheap, not because you really wanted it. That's Black Friday GOG.com customer love style! The offer lasts until Tuesday, December 3, at 10:59AM GMT.
Ah yes, a Black Friday sale. And two of the 60+ games in this sale are in my wishlist. For less than 2 bucks I can get a downloadable DRM free backup copy of RCT1. I could also check out Worms... but just like with The Incredible Machine I'll want to try the demo first to see if I'd want to buy it. There's time. :-)

Either way I just might take advantage of this sale.

justanoldgamer: Older games aren't great at handling alt-tab. Heck even some recent ones, CIV V makes my video card overheat if I alt-tab or run it in a window.
avatar
Nirth: I just wrote that alt-tabbing solved it. :P
Oops sorry about that, I read it as it forgot the path you set (it disappeared).
avatar
Nirth: Two complaints though: first is the AI pathing. It doesn't seem to be the best and at the end tutorial 5 mission it started to glitch real weird but then I alt-tabbed and back and then it disappeared, I have no idea what that was. Maybe mouse drivers conflict? Is a compatibility setting like Win98 or XP SP2 recommended?
Pathfinding is one of the worst aspects of this game and it was already annoying in 2000. So unfortunately you'll have to deal with it. Making ~5-6 squads with ~20 units is a very good idea and may help you a lot.

Nirth: The second one is that the music and sound effects keep changing volume in-game in a weird manner and I've seen this before with older, especially RTS games. If I start to build something with many workers it's like the sound increases incrementally for every worker and it becomes really loud in some situations. I would prefer to keep it consistent, it doesn't add anything if it's intentional.
Try switching off any fancy sound settings (like 3D sound effects). It should help a lot.

Also: don't expect AI to be good. He is pretty dumb actually, but the game is rather hard because usually he is in a better starting position + a lot of scripted events (I mentioned them earlier) which are good for him and bad for you (at least in 90% situations). Anyway it's still one of my favorite games, and definitely it was the game I played most in 2000.

wrathsinger: Save yourself some pain, pre-build your chars at nwn2db.com
Haha, this is what I spend hours using!

Oh. Well, then there are NwN2 wikis with some insane builds like an "18 attacks per round untouchable-level AC melee dual-wielder".
Sadly, I found no builder for NwN1. Now, THAT would take me hours to play with. ;-)

Yup :D A classic gem, even better since it's local, haha. I hope I'll have enough funds till Sunday-Monday to purchase a copy and maybe give away 1 or 2... Let's sponsor our few game designers here, even if it's a game made a decade ago, lol.
Oh no. I quickly scrolled through the list and saw I only had 2 or 3 of the games. I don't need to look at the list and spend more money....

*sees Raiden Legacy mentioned in the posts*

Damnit..... Time to read over the list.

Edit: Also I'm glad to see Capitalism Plus and 2 included in a black friday sale. It wouldn't be fitting without them.

I asked about it an hour or so ago and nothing. People must be afraid of it. :D
Tzar seems to reign over this promo. :-)
Me, I grabbed some royal guards instead. Praetorians, to be precise.
I mean, seriously, is it that common for an RTS to have no resources (except population and glory), different types of terrain with some of them impassable by certain unit types (say hello to ambushes) and a good history-based plot?
Pretty epic promo.
