Concerning the "Input not recognized" Bug, I'd like to update the description with some more details. Can you tell me:

a) what triggers the bug to occur?

From what I know so far, some people get it after rolling, while others get it when they press "r" to use a quick slot weapon. Are there other variations?

b) what exactly is the effect?

I kow that for some people all controls except camera and moving (via wasd keys) are disalbed, while there seem to be cases where only certain keys are affected. Is that correct, and if it is, which keys?

c) how long does the bug last?

I've read that in some cases the bug stops when Geralt is hit by an enemy. Are there other variations? Do the controls return to normal after some time has passed?

Thanks in advance!

@agga11: sounds like something went wrong when installing the patch. Re-installing the game (and all patches) should fix this.

@vAddicatedGamer: I'll try if q gets disalbed for me, too, and if it also affects gamepads.

As far as I can see, there are 3 kinds of issues:
a) The problem with "R" / bomb- or knife-throwing:
- What triggers it? I haven't been able to replicat the problem reliably, but it happened to me a few times. I think someone mentioned running and throwing bombs/knives at the same time.
- The effect I lose part of keyboard control (I think at least 2 of WASD, "Q", and "R") and certainly LMB and RMB.
-how long does the bug last? I recover upon getting hit once or twice. I am not sure if regaining control happens after some time, as usually I get hit when this happens which causes me to die or restores keyboard control.

b) Casting signs after dodging: I do not lose control of the keyboard. But coming out of a roll, I was unable to cast signs for 1 second or so (neither pressing or holding the key works), regardless of whether I stand still or run after rolling.

c) Inconsistent performance regarding blocking and dodging. Blocking seems to undergo a noticeable delay after I get hit but not dodging, whereas dodging seems to undergo a noticeable delay after I get blocked but not blocking.
I've added the Enhancements don't work on Silver Swords bug and also a bug I found myself, "Quick Slot Icon not updated". I also updated the "Input not recognized" bug, but it's still rather vague. Information from more users is still welcome!

I duno if it's a bug but isn't it supposed to be raining in the Kayran fight?

That sounds cool. I wish it had been raining when I fought the dragon.
Another issue (from what people have told me, it is not a bug as much as an imperfection in the mechanism).

Problem: Hit detection issue where Geralt gets hit while far from being in contact.
Procedure: This is prevalent in enemies who charge esp. large monsters. To reproduce, you need to record the video (e.g. with FRAPS). Find a charging (shield-bearing) soldier or large monster (such as Golem) and do nothing but dodge. Review the video and slow down the speed if needed.
Workaround: (I guess) Foot work II to avoid the (invisible) offensive hitbox altogether.

Another minor bug

Problem:
a) Circle of Vigor having the same effect as Circle of Life (vitality regen +2 outside combat, +1 during combat).
b) If you stack the two, there will be the two icons and timer. However you only get the effect of one (meaning instead of vitality regen +4 out of combat, +2 during combat you get +2 / +1). When the first one expires, the bonus from the second one does not activate either.

Procedure:
- In Chapter 1, Circle of Life can be found just off Roche's ship, a shrine by the waterfall, shrine directly south of Flotsam, and at the hospital ruins near the dog's corpse.
- Circle of Vigor can be found en-route to the troll, Vyeopatis' shrine, in the buffer zone at Flotsam's south gate.

Workaround: None
Status: Occurs in v1.2
Old Entries

This bugs have been fixed already.

Enhancements don't work for Silver Swords
Problem: Enhancements, such as oils and whetstones, only work for steel swords, not for silver swords.
Procedure: Apply Falca's Blood or a Whetstone to a steel sword. Compare damage listed on character screen and damage dealt to a certain enemy (combat log) before and after. Notice the damage has increased. Do the same with a silver sword. Notice the damage remains the same.

Status: This problem has been fixed in patch 1.3.

Quick Slot Icon not updated
Problem: The icon in the lower left of the screen, that displays the currently selected quick slot icon, is not updated when you've exhausted your supply of that item.
Procedure: Put Samum bombs in a quick slot and select them via the quick selection menu. Notice the Samum bomb icon in the lower left of the screen. Throw Samum bombs until your supply is depleted. Notice the Samum bomb icon is still displayed in the lower left corner of the screen, even though you don't have any.
Status: This problem has been fixed in patch 1.3.

Gamepad: Control Sticks not working in Menus [fixed in 1.2]
Problem: The XBox Controller's Control Sticks work during gameplay (to move Geralt and the camera), but not in menus. This includes the quick selection menu and the main menu. As a side effect of this problem, it is currently not possible to scroll through journal entries with the gamepad.
Workaround: Tools that assign gamepad intput to keyboard keys, like XPadder or JoytoKey, can be used as an interim solution.

On the controls not working

When you use all you bombs/knives/traps, and attempt to throw one, the game looks for the item since it still shows at loaded in the bottom left. However you ran out of that type of bomb, so the game will continue to attempt to throw that bomb, which is why no attacks or signs work. Getting hit seems to break this bug, just hope you had quen up. I can confirm this as I've replicated this error numerous times.

I've noticed after a clean reinstall of the game, I've decided to increase caching and downscaling in an attempt to deal with a 100% cpu CTD, that loadscreens will pop up during walks, fights, and areas you would not expect to see loadscreens flash. I expect that opening doors and going from outside to inside, but the fact is it happens in the middle of the first Letho fight, usually putting me in dire straits. happens while moving around the waterfall area near flotsam. Not sure if this is from caching and downscaling or that the new download was corrupted.

Reinstalled because for some reason, I was getting conversations that were bleeding through. IE Talking to Dandelion about Henselt and he'll replace a line with from one of a conversations in Flotsam. Only could think that It somehow got corrupted. so I deleted everything and did a fresh DL and install, but the above two issues are happening with the new install.

I tried replicating this. I managed to get the keyboard-control-not-responding bug several times but I still can't find what causes this. Using up all the bombs never caused the bug, at least for me. There was once I used up all my grapeshots, and changed to samum, then on my second samum I got the bug. The other time, I simply got it after a few bombs of the same type. Then the third time, I think it happened while I was throwing grapeshots after using up all your samums. And sometimes it works fine even while I use up both grapeshots and samums.
Re: Sounds disappearing in Loredo's house.

This happens to me quite frequently, and seemingly more often when using a 7.1 sound system. I have always been able to resolve the issue, however, by leaving the area (back into Flotsam proper), and saving/reloading the game. It has never been 'permanent' for me, as described in the original post, forcing me to go as far as to re-installing the game. This is, of course, assuming it's the same bug as you describe.

I will have to retest with to determine whether this is while running, and in combat and out of combat. Often I reposition myself to throw bombs. But say I have 5 grapeshot, I'll move out, and hit the R button twice x 6, this should use up the 5, the quick slot will still show I have a grapeshot, even though looking in inventory shows none. the 6th try locks out all but movement keys/camera.

I have seen that getting hit can unlock this. I have also had a similar one occur where switching out swords can unlock keys, its maybe happened a dozen times. The bomb glitch I can say happens a few times a day if I don't pay attention to my inventory.

I will add I am using a dual action logitech gamepad. Sad, I actually had to dust it off, the first time in 8 years, but I still had issues trying to map to the 10key pad after the fix, so I decided to map the keyboard to the gamepad.

On the unarmed combat, it's annoying and I agree that its quirky. The feel tends make me think that it was supposed to be qte. You unsheathe your fists, I don't have issues with using witcher signs. I've even managed to get a crit kill in a fist fight in LaVallete, Geralt went to punch and it gave the cutscene of him setting the guard on fire.

You mean when you go into the shortcut wheel (where it lets you choose sign/bombs/trap) you can still see the grapeshot bomb even if you use up all of them?

In the dungeon? I thought you have a blackjack with you? I tried it with the Scent of Incense bandits and Dmitri and his merry band. Stunned with Aard and I didn't get any crits - just normal attacks (and I think without the sound effect of hitting).
