yyahoo: In what way?
Very few updates, almost nothing about actual in-game stuff. The beta is scheduled for Q1 2014, which is a year later than the initial announcement, IIRC. And recently they said that Reincarnation will have DLC, and backers would receive the basic Starter Pack. Then after some nasty feedback from some of the backers they rectified and confirmed full package for everyone.

Am I remembering correctly that this was the best of the series?
That's the way I remember it anyway.

jimbob0i0: You'll get a lot of debate between 1 and 2 on that ...

I preferred 2 .. many preferred 1 ... very few will defend TDR2000 ;)
Yeah, IMHO 1 was great, but 2 was so much superior. The vehicles handled better. The physics were highly improved, and the variety of possible damage to vehicles was multiplied ten-fold. I seem to recall one time literally wrapping my vehicle around a pole to the point that when I pressed on the accelerator the car would simply spin in circles like a dog chasing its tail. It's been a while, but that is a very vivid memory. I'll have to try to replicate it...

Do I need a reddit account for that?
Yes, you'll need to set up a reddit account. Takes two seconds, don't need to provide an e-mail or nuthin'.

Just make sure you dont slam the window shut too quickly
Personally I preferred the first as the second missed the character of the first game, peds were less fun, no opponent bio's etc. and I generally liked the cars of the first game better, like that 2CV with a lawnmower up front and the blooddrenched ambulance.
Still C2 was a lot of fun although the Brender engine was showing its age even then.

Today is a good day for all.
hmm...

There's only five games on the front page being advertised on top. Usually it's six.

I feel like something else is coming by tomorrow :) (just don't know what...)

Carma 2 was otherwise superior... but it could have done without those pesky time-limited special missions, something that I don't recall the first game having. Whenever I got into one, I was "God, not again...". I don't particularly recall enjoying any of the time-limited extra missions in Carma 2, but having lots of fun with the freeform levels.

One might think they are a nice diversion from the otherwise generic gameplay, but to me they were the opposite of why I liked Carmageddon games to begin with. Not having to rush through a level in time, but take my time, explore, kill pedestrians and enemy cars (in order to rake more time to explore more) etc. Yeah there was a time limit in generic levels too, but you usually needed to just kill a couple of enemy cars to get several minutes of extra time for exploration, and with little searching, finding time bonuses etc. you suddenly had 10+ minutes of free time to do whatever you wanted.

It was like some of those old point&click adventure games that just had to cram some action sequence somewhere in the game, something that adventure gamers didn't want there.

As for TDR2000... I've played my retail version only slightly, and to me it seemed to change a bit more from the freeform gameplay of the first two games, to more generic racing against other cars. Or was it feasible to win the TDR2000 levels by just killing everyone, and not caring about the ongoing race, if any?

It could be due to the free Witcher promo expiring.
Woo hoo, thanks for the free game GOG! That was indeed painless to do and quick to receive.

I'm trying to stay positive ;D

Also, there was no saying that the b-day celebration was over. It was made out that the end had a big announcement or release. If it was over, I'd think they'd say so (well, I'd hope).

It is true that this is a big giveaway, being 50k copies of Carmageddon. That's pretty crazy.

Judas didn't calm my curiosity when i asked and he just said "I dunno" in return. Drives me crazy, he does!
