The Tower of Time is longer than I expected, and certainly longer than the times provided by HowLongToBeat.

Or I'm proceeding more slowly than usual... :D

Maeve is my protege... All extra bonuses go to her! She is the archer of the group.

Portal 2

I think I got it for free on Steam many many years ago, and have started playing it already years ago but got sidetracked to other games already in the beginning, I wasn't instantly hooked up.

I recall enjoying the first Portal game very much. Although I am a pretty slow gamer, ie. I tend to search every nook and cranny and solve every subquest in RPGs etc., I think it took me only one or two days to finish the first portal game.

I think it was quite fine or even positive that it was quite a short experience, it had just the right amount of gameplay for my needs and for the story, and I really enjoyed the hilarious ending and the antagonist.

Portal 2... I dunno, it is kinda the same thing with extra stuff, and apparently considerably longer too as I have played it at least over a week now, on and off. At chapter 5 or 6 (where I think I am now) I thought I'd be already near the end, but according to some walkthrough I was not even 50% completed at that point.

I enjoyed the game at first for similar reasons as the first game, the puzzles are just enough challenging at first where you'd be first scratching your head but slowly (or sometimes fast) getting it what you are supposed to do to proceed, and it gives you slight hints to nudge you to the right direction. And both your antagonist and the sidekick were mostly pretty funny too.

I am unsure in which chapter I am now (6? 7?), but I am in the areas where you have puzzles with that blue goo that makes you jump higher, so quite a lot of jumping puzzles. And I am watching my clock and wondering when is this game ending, hoping to get done with it already.

In this section I have encountered a lot of areas where I have no idea what I am supposed to do or even where to go. In a couple of areas after the "escape", I think I was running in circles wondering "haven't I been here before?" and was going the wrong way.

In this section I've had to revert to Youtube walkthrough videos to get any idea what to do, and there has been several jumping puzzles where it gives no (clear) hint where you are supposed to try to get. Those puzzles have been more like, just try to set up some extraordinarily long jump that will randomly catapult you to some direction, and that is probably where the game wanted you to end up. There is no actual indication that is where you want to or should go, you just randomly set up some very long jumps and then hope for the best that you get to some place from which you can proceed. This is one of them, but not quite even the worst.

Here is another:

And another (with that actual blue jumping goo), but I think I was actually able to solve this one on my own:

Truth to be told, I am not enjoying the game that much anymore, and hope to get finished already. That announcer voice in this section is not as funny or interesting either, as e.g. GladOS.

Unless something special happens in the rest of the game that has me floored, this is a bit of a disappointment to me, partly because I had high hopes due to liking the first Portal game, and also hearing this is like Portal but bigger and better. Bigger yes, better... nnnnnyyyaaaa...

I guess it doesn't help I am not a big fan of pure puzzle games, but luckily Portal games have some story, semi-interesting world, protagonists and gameplay as well. To me pure puzzle games feel too much like work or school, trying to solve math problems at school or the client/customer problems I solve at work every day. A game has to have something else besides just problems to solve.

So yeah, even back in the day when everyone else seemed to rave about the Lemmings games, I was always rather meh about them. I just didn't see the point of trying to solve 10.000 levels and logical problems with an increasing difficulty. For what? Is there a cake waiting for me at the end or something?

dtgreene: Zelda 2. (SNES)

Got the Raft and Reflect spell. Have all magic containers and 3 heart containers (missing the one that needs the boots). Have not done palace 4 yet. (Can't do 5 or 6. Could do the Great Palace if I so chose.)
Is it hard to navigate? I thought this game had cryptic directions like in Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.

I've played the game too many times to be able to give a good answer, as I already know where everything is, and I've known for decades, so it's like second nature to me.

I have, however, heard that there's clues for everything except for one particular magic container, which is unfortunately mandatory. With that said, it's the sort of item that you can reach by exploring every overworld square. (Hint: It's in a maze like section with invisible action sequences and no random encounters.)
