Oh, you mean the graphics downgrade for The Witcher 3! Yes, I remember reading something about that. I was thinking it was some financial thing.
Well, maybe they can make up with their fans by releasing the game with an improved engine for the PC.

shmerl: Now instead of communicating changes more, they don't communicate at all about anything. It could be a way to avoid such marketing fiascos. But I think it's an inferior method. Communicating more helps more.
It is clearly a method of protection. The downgrade issue may have reminded them that they do not want to be the next Ion Storm.

Compare it to Start Citizen. They communicate a lot. By announcing changes in advance and explaining what they are doing they can avoid most of such "ion storms" much better than by not saying anything at all.
I already bought Witcher 3 when it was advertised on Steam that it was coming to SteamOS. It's been sitting in my steam library since release.
Patiently waiting for port :/

I was just saying I understood, not that I considered it the best choice.

I do not know Star Citizen, but as a backer, the new Torment game sends me regular emails with progress updates, previews and other information. They clearly put an effort into it, which is nice. I know so many programmers that hate writing documentation. Seeing team members taking the time to produce well-written updates to people who already paid for the game feels heart-warming and amazing.

Ultimately, just as different people deal with their problems differently, I suppose we have to expect different companies handle their problems differently. Let us also admit that some consumers do not make this "open disclosure" easy.
I'm really surprised that outside the GOG community so many people care about ports of other AAA titles more. In my opinion, The Witcher 3 is currently the game that Linux lacks.

I think enough people care about TW3 for Linux in general. New strategy update from CDPR though doesn't mention anything about Linux, which isn't a good thing.

Missing Linux ports have prevented them from becoming one of the best gaming companies, imo. Supported OSes are currently (where there's so many companies that port to Linux) as important as DRM-freedom if you expect to be among the top three gaming companies.

Did you watch the interview from before they discontinued the GOG Downloader? They said we could expect the Downloader on Linux in the future... Then they probably thought -Galaxy is going to come out soon, making the Downloader port redundant, let's forget about the Downloader- and then the Galaxy port didn't happen either.

The situation at GOG could very well be exactly the same as the one you thought might be the one delaying the Witcher 3. We haven't even got any clue whatsoever how much work they've already done if any.

I am very disappointed with CDPR for not wanting to make the port a Linux Witcher 3.
If they have no plans to do the port, could leave them in the hands of Feral Interactive for example, if they show interest in Linux to portage many games for the platform
i want wither 3 for linux too ;P
+1 for a Linux version please! Or as others have mentioned please hire Feral to port it, they have done a great job porting other AAA games to Linux.

Please also consider releasing Cyberpunk 2077 for Linux, I expect Linux support to get better and better by then with all the effort Valve are putting into gaming on Linux, plus Vulkan releasing.

It's not a good idea. CDPR should better do it themselves. Those who outsource porting usually don't care about supporting their engine on Linux. I.e. they do it as a cheap way to make one time port, rather than maintain their engine on Linux properly.
