Has anyone tried that Underrail game? I've read that it's similar to the original Fallout.

masayersuk: Quite honestly this is the most muddled sale I think I've ever seen.
[...]
It has also made it harder with the sale adding new games to the sale every day, at this rate I'm just going to end up waiting till the last day of the sale and trying to work things out based on what I most want and how much I can afford to spend.
Yep, this is the most annoying big GOG sale i've seen so far. I lost interest in checking the frontpage for new games on sale every day. I just check the 15 games on my wishlist and *might* have a look at all games on sale at the last day.

BlackThorny: I do have an inquiry though about the following listings:
Man O' War: Fledgling Griffon $29.99 FREE $0.00 12/5/2016
Man O' War: Reik’s Fashion $29.99 FREE $0.00 12/5/2016
Hmmm, what? when did this happen? or is it just a price mismatch for a yet to be listed game?
See here.

HypersomniacLive: Yeah, got me scratching my head. Now I wonder where things went wrong - was it intended to be an Action Bundle all along, was one of the two bundles supposed to come out at a later day, were there supposed to be tow Nordic Bundles?

This sale gets harder and harder to follow. Sorry, GOG, looks like you're trying to joggle more than you can handle.

masayersuk: Quite honestly this is the most muddled sale I think I've ever seen. The problem is some of these groupings are games that have rewards for already owning part of them others are just flat prices. It becomes even more confusing as some games get a discount in some bundles but not in others, and besides going through every bundle and seeing if there is or isn't a benefit your out of luck.

...
The problem seems to be that we have a new type of game bundle: a 'Build a Bundle' game bundle with a deeper discount triggered by a certain number of games selected for purchase. Since this is GOG (trying to be fair to customers that already bought some games), already owned games count toward the deeper discount threshold. This might lead to a paradoxical situation where some games will have different prices depending on how you view them (from a Build a Bundle bundle, from a Curator bundle or from the store page).

To get the best deal, check out the Build a Bundle type bundles first, because they will have the deepest discounts, and if you have some games already you usually won't have to include any filler games just so you get a better deal.

If you do qualify for the better discount in the build a bundle, the game will have that discount, even if you get it from a different bundle that has a smaller discount. The checkout page should have the correct discount percentages, no matter what the catalog or bundle pages say.

It's still ridiculously convoluted for a sale. It's seriously off-putting.

Opinion, and respected. I don't find it any more convoluted than other sales, but I keep saying that I am weird.
Anyone having difficulty redeeming games that were earned with XP during the sale?

Yes, the it might appear that the game is more expensive than it actually is, but that is because the actual discount calculation is deferred until you begin the checkout process. This is probably done due to arctophobia (fear of GOG bears).

Ignoring the stupidity of the Devolver bundles, I agree with JMich. It's pretty typical for a GOG sale to have different discounts on the same game, depending on bundle or not. The YouTube "packs" kind of add another level to that, but it's still not really any different than previous sales.

The Devolver BYOB's are seriously stupid though.

Devolver Hits 1: There are 9 games, you have to pick 10 to get the full discount. So you have to either buy at least one DLC, or one base+upgrade to get to the required 10.

Devolver Hits 2: There are 6 games, you have to pick 7 to get the full discount. Same as above, 1 DLC, or one base+upgrade.

Devolver Hits 3: This one takes the cake as ultimate stupid. There are 9 games, you have to pick 10 to get the full discount. There are no DLC available for any of the games, so the only way to get to 10 is to pick a base+upgrade.

Actually, what bugs me more are all the "Not a Bundles", the Bundles which are all individual discounts. It's not a bad idea to group games that way for exposure, but would be nice if these were somehow more distinct from traditional bundles or the new BYOB bundles.

And on Monday I think it was, one of the new daily bundles showed up in the "Other Bundles" section rather than the top.

I agree it's a little convoluted on the face of things.

but when you have a situation where publisher x gives the OK to this price tag for this game in bundle A but publisher y gave the OK to that price tag for this game in bundle B, and you're running these things side by side, I think it's just nice to see and one of the reasons that gog is great that gog will give you the cheaper discount from bundle A if you meet the requirements of bundle A when buying from bundle B.

a simpler way to do things is just only have the cheaper price exist if you're buying from bundle A, and say "well, bundle B has these different games, and that's the price of it".

I'm assuming that's how it works. admittedly I haven't paid much attention to this sale. I already spent a bunch of money on Steam and may not even buy anything here. we'll see. Steam usually has a Holiday sale that goes over and after Christmas. if gog has one like that again, though usually it's in Jan and if memory serves isn't all that compelling, I'm mainly looking to that one.

The build a bundle thing isn't new it has been something that has been used for a long time with gog. They have had the following formats:-

1/ Buy everything to get the best discount, a smaller discount need to buy it again.

2/ Buy a minimum number of items to get a bigger discount, smaller discount for buying individual items

3/ No additional discount for buying the whole bundle or multiple items.

Items you already own you don't need to re-buy things.

The problem is they are throwing them all together and including overlap and confusion.

Right now the sale is making people think a lot and probably as a result of that buy a lot less.

I have nothing at all against these twitchers and youtuber, I'm sure they are probably nice people with lots of people who enjoy their content and no doubt many of them have some excellent taste in games but adding that into this mix really is making it more difficult rather than less.

Maybe I'm just not understanding things properly but it also seems this time around many of the discounts aren't anywhere near as generous as they previously were.

Some of the publishers with multiple titles decided to split their collections over multiple bundles in what I can only assume is an attempt to get you to buy more to get the discount on what you want. I don't like sales tactics like that so my response is to usually buy less and hope others do the same so they stop doing it in the future.

You forgot the "Each item you add increases the discount" one they first had with a D&D sale. Ah, fun times with all the complaints about it.

You sir are completely right... but in all honesty I can't remember one for so long I assumed they had given up on the idea.
