gamesfreak64: i have "The Three Kingdoms: Fate of the Dragon" on old retail cd,
but as expected it wont run on 64 bits....too bad..
awalterj: This is odd, I have the game and it works fine under Win7 64bit. Couldn't install and run the game from my original DVD so I had to resort to downloading an alternate version and I somehow bastardized that version with files from the original DVD and somehow got the game to run, at first only in Chinese but eventually in English...I can't remember what I did exactly, anyway i just wanted to say that the game can be made to run under a 64bit WIndows. Not playing the game anymore right now because I find the missions quite tedious with having to switch between different map areas.
i have a cd version, its a cheap simple amaray case, it says PC cd-rom
UBISOFT eXclusive
these games were very common in big stores, v&d (now closed) , free record, toys r us, and sometimes even at more common shops like marskramer, blokker, bart smit etc etc etc...
google on ubisoft exclusive, click images and you will see all the games.

So maybe these 'cheap retail' versions are crap? i dont know...
Anyway i think the devs who make games, are the ones responsible for non compatible games, if they programmed by the rules the old games would still be working , desperados (the first and best one, cause desperados 2 is bad )
original cd game ( have 2 retail copies) work on win7 64 bit, so it is possible to run games on new windows (minus the bad win 10 ofcourse , that win is very bad).
The old redalert 2 and expansions also work on win7 64 bits, i havent tried tiberian sun and expansion yet, but maybe these will work aswell on win764 bit.
