Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

GogRobus: Staring blankly at the screen, I keep waiting... soon I will start talking to myself!!!
avatar
GhostwriterDoF: Post in the thread here, it's more therapeutic than talking to yourself...
I loled. Thank you!

JudasIscariot: Someone had to keep them busy :P

TurnipSlayerr: Ha, I thought you meant at work! I think I need to sleep :D
See, everyone, we had insomnia too :)

darkmoment: DRM free, yes.
But the price must be right too.
avatar
shadowknight2814: I'd say EA has sort of learned that lesson as they have games here on this site... They just don't apply that lesson to newer games, like Deadspace. :(
Yeah, that is what I meant as well look at there origin store, they hardly ever have price drops or sales on the newer titles.

I thought you meant that you played poker at work, too.

And i merely nodded my head, thought to myself 'yep typical day for you guys' ^_^ I was thinking back to Atari of America, when back in their day, they did all sorts of things at the office during work hours that didn't seem game related - but it was all part of the plan.

snip3rfire: I had to exit my place briefly last night. I never do transactions on my phone, but I still took it with me and kept an eye on the GOG sale while I was out. Thankfully, I didn't miss anything.

booyabojangles: Seriously, this is what I did all morning while working. My phone died before I could get a lunch. Never been so stressed out typing my credit card info into my phone before.
Haha, nice.

stg83: I just registered on this website today, and this thread has kept me entertained throughout the day. For all those AAA publishers that think that PC is the hub of piracy should check the number of games sold on this site. Its amazing so many people are buying copies of games which they already own despite the fact that it is DRM free. There is a huge lesson here that many big companies like EA have yet to learn.
I´m pretty sure they know this, just look at Kickstarter and all the big games that got funded, Capcom said that the fans did´t want Mega Man and people showed them just how wrong they where. The "spiritual" successor Mighty No. 9 got around 3,9 million dollars and that based only on concept art.

FreDDaN: You wanna know whats funny? PS4 launches today and here we are waiting for old classics too go on sale instead xD
Honestly, after losing a job and selling my XBOX 360 I started focusing my game investments on my computer (can't sell em back) and I realized that there is nothing that comes out on a console that my computer can't run. I no longer see any sort of use for a console. Well...one. I do use a wired XBOX 360 controller for a gamepad on my comp. So I say let others spend their day standing in line waiting to get a console that will probably be faulty (like the ps2 and ps3 before it) and a limited selection of games. I will stick with PC gaming....

Have a good one :)

Schemilix: Tch, I just played a Street Sam. My first campaign was really high on the BP from the offset, so he started off with Improved Reflexes and the ability to shoot twice in one round.
He was also mentally incompetent and needed my friend's Hermetic Mage character to look after him, since he's an escaped clone with the experience and mental abilities of a child.

Faenwulf: I started with an orkish bear shaman of the nrodic tradition who is part of a Go-Gang (Like the rest of the team) in the German Rhein-Rhur-Megaplex.

Really funny cruising around on Harleys and stealign stuff. :D
Mine were more towards white on the grey scale of morality in Shadowrun... That said the guy who decided to train a basically four year old elf to shoot more dakka probably had issues.
Has Don't Starve passed yet ? or is there still a chance.
avatar
Alien8n: I double checked and the only game I've not seen sell in round 3 was Baldur's Gate 2 and the free version of Sniper Elite, I've watched every single other game since then...
avatar
MGShogun: Hmm, according to my email, I got BG2 at 8:36 pm, pst.
Sounds about right, the list at that time was saying

Sniper Elite
BG2
Sniper Elite (free)
Unwritten Tales

was posted around page 600 :/
Well might as well watch Batman Tas while I wait for the slow runners too sell out.
avatar
Devoidless: Is it really still Magrunner? Or did my counter freeze
avatar
MGShogun: 22 more copies of Magrunner to go!
good I didn't miss anything. Had to get some shuteye after realizing oh crap had responded to an old post too much a telltale sign some rest was direly needed.
avatar
Revenile: On the plus side I found a spare 2 bucks, which I'll use on thief gold.
Thats odd. While I was out on a stroll waiting for magrunner to end some guy with a ski mask and combat knife robbed me of 2$
avatar
JudasIscariot: Nah, we played some poker instead :)
avatar
nijuu: that would have been interesting to see ;).
In all honesty. Pretty good sale. Nice sales tactic. Needs a few tweaks.. but then you guys will have read many of the comments already :D. I give it a 9/10 ;)
9 out of 10 definately... It made dinner conversation yesterday with my friends when I would casually walk to the computer and try to get the next free item. (They liked the Bear screen!)
