Final surprise of the GOG 17th Anniversary!

From its haunting beginnings to a bold new era – SILENT HILL f is now available on GOG, alongside its Digital Deluxe Edition and Digital Deluxe Upgrade!

For decades, Silent Hill has stood as one of gaming’s most powerful explorations of fear, emotion, and the human psyche. Now, with SILENT HILL f, the series embraces a new generation while staying true to the heart that defined it. We’re proud to welcome this title to GOG, where it is DRM-free and yours to keep forever.

Check it out!

Please note that the Pink Rabbit Costume DLC and Bonus DLC (including the Artbook and OST) are currently available only through GOG GALAXY. We’re aware of the issue and are working on a fix to make them fully accessible offline in the coming days. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Just a quick FYI if you create your own shortcuts to the game (and not use any that GOG create) you need to have -GOG command at the end of the target line. So for example "C:\GOG Games\SILENT HILL f\SHf.exe" -GOG

SHf-Win64-Shipping.exe also needs the -GOG command at the end of the target line, if you want to launch it from that exe. (You don't need it on both only whatever one you want to launch the game from.)

Without the -GOG command the game will not run.

Shmacky-McNuts: Silent Hill title. But....not Silent Hill.

Feels like china making copies of famous cities and towns. Before you ask, yes, it has happened.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Memecchi: I swear people are too hung on the town, speaking as a OG games fan, by SH3 I already had enough of it, like a "yeah, this is a nice closure, I think we can move on to other places"

And funnily enough, Team silent thought the same (and no, it was always intended as a SH title, not a new IP)
You clearly do not know what you are talking about. The entire story series revolves around the Silent Hill city/town, due to a cult that made it the nightmare it became. It cannot be a Silent Hill title if it has nothing to do with the town. The name is not a franchise. It literally is about the one town, because of the events that happen in and around it.

The mistake of having part 4 and and this game "F", is the cash grabbing. 4 and F have nothing to do with the one place that holds together the plot. Thus its not a Silent Hill game.

Though both 4 and F could possibly be good on their own. Blame the guy that named these games, something that it should not be.

Side note: The cult that made Silent Hill a nightmare, has no connection to anything asian. The story is well documented, even if anyone has not played the games. I have.

Congrats, gog, this is definitely a big catch.

Konami, a small introductory discount would have made a world of difference but f is a very welcome addition to the storefront just the same, it will absolutely find its way to my shelf soon.

Iohannis42: And sometimes they are alive with the sound of music...

But mostly silent.

gog144: It is settled then. If a tree on a hill falls and there is no one to hear it, it does not make a sound unless the hill has eyes; if the hill is alive with the sound of music, the sound of the tree falling may not be heard over the sound, or it may provide the percussion section of the music.

AlexTerranova: One of the few AAA releases, that really got me interested. And the most impressive addition to GOG catalogue at the Anniversary event.

Japanese setting is quite appealing, thanks for including the voice-over. :)

gog144: The 1960s Japanese setting is very appealing to me as well. I also appreciate that the characters were modeled directly after their Japanese voice actors, and I appreciated the Japanese voices very much too.
What in Bruce Cockburn's rocket launcher.....

this is interesting. is this a first with this game? a one off? it better be. i mean if nothing else, this means double clicking the exe will not work. imagine someone doing that (or creating a desktop shortcut from it) and the game just won't run and they have no idea.

this needs more info as to why, etc.

i command you to dig deeper and report back.

I love the look of this game but HATE that it is called Silent Hill, especially hearing about how they messed with the combat. Also let me be honest, I WOULD buy this game even if not called Silent Hill, Konami. This game looks like it could stand on it's own in my opinion and seeing a completely new Horror title with these visuals would help Konami with so many companies doing repeats or remakes or remasters.
That being said I will buy this game at $50 or below, $70 is way too much for 99% of new games for me. I disagree on those complaining and wanting a discount considering this came less than a month after the earlier release I think.
I hope GOG keeps surprising us, I would LOVE Capcom to offer Monster Hunter Stories 3 here or to see Konami follow up with re-releasing the PC version of Silent Hill 3.

The only thing I want from Konami is Snaaaaaaaaake! Or maybe Suikoden.

Silent Hill 2 & 4 do not need it, in fact as far as i'm aware no other games (or at least the ones I own) need this (i've never seen it and did a quick search for it and found no other mentions of it.)

Indeed just double clicking on the exe does not work (the game just thinks about it then goes to a blank screen then straight way exits.)

I'm not sure why it needs this, thats something only GOG can answer.

It's possible they didn't take out Steamworks or such and just basically switch it off. Be interesting to see if a steam emulator would make it run without the added command line.

Its possible.

You had me curious about trying it with a Steam emulator so I tried it with Goldberg (both just replacing steam_api64.dll and then with the experimental Steam client and the game either was a hard no (nothing happened) or the same thing happened as when you try to launch it without the -GOG command (opens then closes straight way.)

Edit: After some more testing I got it working with Goldberg but you have to have the -savetouserdir command (instead of the -GOG command) before the game will launch. So it seems unless you run it through either Steam or Galaxy directly both versions need some sort of target command.

Edit2: All the DLC is also working in game (and the Pre-Order stuff is there so it seems GOG's Steam wrapper just doesn't have the code to unlock the Pre-Order items, but the files for them are there.)

Thank you for explaining the lore I already knew to me :D that doesn't change a single word I said, visiting a hospital three times in a row was enough, the series needed to move to other places and as long as the defining aspects (physiological horror, symbolism) are there, I really don't care if they can link it to the cult or town

And SH f is perfectly in line with the original games, not just in quality and intent, but also thanks to certain elements (that I won't spoil) that it shares with SH and SH3

I wish every old-ish franchise got spin-offs of this quality, even if they have to sacrifice a thing or two, I'll certainly take it over stagnation and remakes
