A fistful of vengeance.

GUN™, a gun-trotting action/adventure in the wild West, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com.

There is something about the Old West that keeps fascinating us. The dusty towns, the gold rush, the dames of questionable moral fiber, the bullet-ridden saloons, the twitchy duels, the tobacco-chewing villains - they blur the line between history and fantasy in a particularly alluring fashion.
GUN is about breathing in all these things as Colton White and also engaging in bounty-collection missions, poker matches, buffalo hunts, train robberies, horseback shootouts, and just about everything that an open-world adventure has to offer to a daring gunslinger such as yourself. Just remember that sometimes the stealthy, more cunning approach is preferable to direct violence, even against the lowlifes that have wronged you.

Enter the vast, opportunistic land of the Wild West and dish out justice with your GUN™ in hand, DRM-free on GOG.com.

MarkoH01: Greeat idea because it's also indexed in Germany :)
avatar
mk47at: Only until 2002.

The reasoning for the additon to the index in 1984 is crazy. Especially their choice of verbs. They use "bespielen" (no translation available; seems like a mixture of playing and mounting) instead of "spielen" for playing.

Edit:
I've never read that verb before, but it gives the impression that they are talking about rape.

"Bei älteren Jugendlichen führt das Bespielen von ‚River Raid’ zu physischer Verkrampfung, Ärger, Aggressivität, Fahrigkeit im Denken, Konzentrationsschwierigkeiten, Kopfschmerzen u.a. "

Playing (or whatever) the game causes physical uptightness, anger, aggressiveness, fidgetiness of mind, concentration problems, head ache and other problems.
Oh, did not notice. But then again I do not follow if such an old game is not any more on the index.
Their reason for indexing this is stupid as hell and also wrong. It's unbelievable really given the fact that those stupid bastards from the BPjM are neither psychologists nor doctors. Oh please, someone give me a bomb. At least they can then say "they knew that it would be better to (technically) ban all violent games from all German people". I am so f**king mad at those stupid idiots in the BPjM.

Hang on... $20? I would have expected this to fall under the oldschool $6/$10 pricing

edit: so did the everyone else in the thread, naturally

Those decisions were made by old, chainsmoking women staring at a wall with a screen the whole day, having to watch porn and play games that they were bad at…

It's no suprise that this work situation led to really crazy decisions.

Given those criteria they should also ban the Comments sections on most websites.

With those criterias they could also ban my workplace ;)

Oh, I don't know, I usually only feel nauseous, angry or frustrated. ;-)
What a bargain!

Are you kidding! At that price it's a steal! ...of the highway robbery kind...

Well i doubt they were going to price it less than they do on steam, strange thing though this one cost more than it does on valve platform, weird.

I'm not not one to usually complain about the price of games on gog or anywhere else but yeah,it feels a bit overpriced at this point and i already have it on steam so...

As for the game,of course it's not comparable to red dead redemption but still a fun game, great soundtrack and a serviceable story.
high rated
Came here to see, why I ended up in the "show all games" screen instead if this game's one... just as I thought. Oh well - I am just so glad our government and law protects us from all that evil in the world, with the help of all these faithful paladins at GOG, Steam, Youtube...

I would love to see all that censorship stuff be gone someday - but being in my 50's now, I'm afraid I'll not live to see that happen.

On a side note - Please consider to add it to the description of games, if they are region locked. Could help to know, if there are problems with the account or just no access to a certain game.

I've never read that verb before
That's because German officials are illiterate morons and complete imbeciles. Reading any Beschlagnahmebeschluss (the wretched papers on which German courts justify their decisions to ban games) will have you question your own sanity, because you wouldn't believe anyone could possibly be this goddamn thick. To name just one example, when banning Condemned, they simply copypasted the case file for the Manhunt ban and replaced the game's and the protagonist's name.

And we have this excemption for works of art, right? Can't ban a work of art because of showing violence in Germany? Well, worry not! Because all it takes is one small sentence: "Ein Kunstanspruch konnte nicht nachgewiesen werden." Those six words basically makes all claims that you're dealing with a work of art - be it a computer game or a movie like Romero's "Dawn Of The Dead" - null and void.

Sorry for repeatedly mixing up banned games (which doesn't apply to GUN) and blacklisted games (which is the case for the uncensored GUN), but it's really all part of the same cancer that is the dreadful German nanny state.

fronzelneekburm: According to the leaked list, TimeShift will be here soon. Not for Germans, though. Another region lock incoming, mark my words.
avatar
tburger: You should move to Poland ..you get the same prices as in Germany and no regional locks ;-P
I'm currently residing in China. They get a bad rep in the West as far as the internet is concerned, but at least I have access to the unexpurgated gog catalogue here. ;)

avatar
IAmSinistar: I'm not really interested in getting all pedantic about it. I was just trying to make a quick and slightly humorous reply to the original poster. Split hairs if you want, but either way German people can't buy the game on GOG.
Your post still got a +1 from me, bro! Any time a non-German user posts something in German warms my heart - especially if it's for comic effect.

avatar
tinyE: WTF!? There's no blood, no Nazi imagery. Shit, it's a bunch of blocks moving up and down on a screen. :P
Same could be said about Custer's Revenge, but people still get their panties in a knot about that one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

avatar
IAmSinistar: General question to folks here, and sorry if I missed it, but what are the differences in the censored version?
Ohh, you know... stuff.

Click here for a list in Kraut. They used to have pictures for comparison on that site, but they don't show up for me. Maybe you'll have more luck. In any case, the length of that text alone should be an indication that the changes were quite extensive.

Seconded. It was precisely why I came into the thread.

viranimus: If people did not buy V:TM-Bloodlines for that amount (Or Morrowind for Bethesda) then they aren't going to buy Gun which was at best a "Middle A" release at best.
I must be a big dumb-dumb then since I've bought Bloodlines, Morrowind, and even RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 + HoMM V at full price at the time of their GOG releases. That said, while Gun looks definitely interesting to me it doesn't exactly have the must-have status these other games had.

About the pictures not showing up (they don't show up for me either) : there was interesting post in the german sub forum about that...

I would have bought Bloodlines at full price too, if I didn't have it already on disc and on Steam. So I waited. But as you said, you can't possibly compare GUN to Bloodlines.
